This makes me think about the Hard Rock hotel they were building in New Orleans. Those contractors knew that the building was unstable and were recorded saying that they won't be bringing their families there in the future..but before they even finished the building, it collapsed on them instead. In other words, you'd be surprised how often these people know that they're building death traps.

This has me crying. I can’t imagine the families that don’t know if their relatives are alive or dead. That’s truly heartbreaking. My heart is so sad for that 15 year old boy who lost his mother. For all the other children and people missing, I’m praying in my heart for them. I swear I’ve always been nervous in buildings and parking garages ! I’ve always had a fear of them collapsing on me. Idk why. Maybe in another life I died that way. But it’s always been a huge fear since I was a kid ! I remember back when I was about 9 I watched the news when that huge bridge collapsed with lots of vehicles on them. A lot of people died then as well. I don’t like bridges either. I wish we had strict laws when it comes to keeping these buildings up to date and bridges. Nobody should have to go through something like that.

I'm not surprised. When I had my house construction was being done behind the house for the utility company. My goodness when I tell you the amount of shaking I could feel in the house. I had to call the city and the utility company to have an inspector come out. They claimed the foundation was fine. Meanwhile you can SEE the cracks in the foundation that wasn't there before.

More than 60 hrs have been passed still there are no words on missing 159 precious American lives. Look like the American rescue operations are in full swing using all means to locate and either save or bring back the 159 missing people. I would like to make a suggestion; if all the means are exhausted and critical time has reached to save these lives; please call Hamas volunteers of Gaza; they have rich experience of locating and either saving or retrieving bodies from the concrete debris of high rise buildings. They have carried out such rescue operations of 1400 hundreds building 2 months ago and 3000 buildings 3 years ago without any foreign help.

They are. The experts know more about collapses than random KZbin commenters do. If you haphazardly remove debris without determining which ones are load bearing then you could end up crushing survivors by taking out a supporting beam. It’s a painfully slow process but necessary to minimize casualties.

They need to get a hold of the Engineer and question him. Oftentimes, owners of their building discover unfinished or improper work done to their structure and its costly to repair.

It could be a huge sinkhole under the first section that collapsed. The pile up of debris in that section is lower than the second collapsed section plus a report that the underground basement cave-in.
