When I worked as a state humane police officer, I tried not to write citations unless it was really, really warranted. However, someone abandoning their dog was a guaranteed citation.

In my state, NC, animal abandonment is a lot more than a citation, it's 1-5 years in prison, which it should be.

How sad that Chivas has no front teeth. As you say, one can only guess how it happened. When watching him eat it becomes obvious he has no front teeth. He has to "gum" food until it reach remaining teeth. In spite of the teeth issue he remains a true lover. His coat has gorgeous colors. He's keeper. 👍👍👍

I lost my dog when I was out of town. My brother back then forget to close our fence and then he gone forever and i only found him missing 1 week before i came back. After back to town still searching him for months almost everyday. Been 10 years already, but still missing him so bad. I really don't understand how people able to throwing out their pets family. If Chivas was brought to America, he would have been adopted immediately ! My state mostly has Pit Bulls/American Staffordshire Terriers for adoption which are not that desirable due to inner-breeding or bred for fighting. Do wish that all doggies were adopted. God Bless !

I will never understand people. Go to the beach and dump your dog? I DO have a lot of sympathy for those people fleeing bombing and Russian soldiers, they often have just minutes to get out and when they try to take pets with them, it is not allowed. That is a terrible situation but I get it but to just dump your pet when you don't have to is inexcusable. Thank you so much Olena and all your volunteers for helping these little innocent souls.
