Summer is the ideal time for evening walks, family vacations, barbecues, and a slower pace of life. But when we forget to ask God what our souls need most, our desire for joy and rest can turn to disappointment and exhaustion. In the first half of this series, John, Stasi, Stacey, and Allen share how to take the pressure off, play the long game, and leave margin for the unexpected this summer.

My husband & I started a business 24 years ago & the grind nearly took me out in 2023. At 59 yrs old I am finally trying to build in meaningful margin...difficult for my first-born, type-A self😕The big thing that stood out in today's podcast was Stasi's "mantra": a great good is coming. I dread every single day of my job....cry most days just making the 10 minute drive...I have to believe God ordained that I should hear that phrase today, & that gives me hope that a shift in perspective is possible, whether or not my circumstances change! Thank you for all the content you guys put out into this world!

Sitting on the beach in Aruba….feastng on good Christian content with the love of my life, while the kids are at home….because they are old enough. God is good, He has richly blessed me with eternal life, a beautiful lifelong partner, six children and two grand-children. My soul is wants to shout, given the self-centered path I was on until He saved me at 21.

This is great, though it isn’t applicable to me for summer. We are farmers/ranchers, so summer is one of our busiest seasons. What Allen said about unexpected things rang true though. The pickup that suddenly broke down for no apparent reason, the bull that got sick, the cow that died calving, the delivery of the swather part that is delayed, etc.; I asked my husband the other day, “Wouldn’t it be great if everything worked all the time?” Have a wonderful summer, brothers & sisters! I’m looking forward to our vacation in November.😂

Thank you for openly sharing, it helps me to not feel so alone. Sometimes God is quite, so I need to slow down and listen.

I have to set boundaries for myself and have quiet time every day. I need that processing/ restoration time or I get burnt out. What does my soul need every day is the question for me. Unplanned crisis will happen and if I have to set some things aside or take longer to do them, as a result, I cut myself some grace for that. Also, I've learned that taking on other people's responsibilities, when they are capable, is not "helping.". It's enabling their irresponsibility and usually causing exhaustion for myself. A vacation is awareness of God's presence and resting in that. Travel can be a good change of scene, but can also add more busyness, expenditures, expectations and thus, stress.

Thinking of it less as stressful and more of an adventure will help i hope..

This so blessed me. We've had 26 months of dealing with our son's divorce and subsequently watching three children way over my capacity to say the least. And it's still ongoing so I've had to set some boundaries and had some Guilt over that because I just cannot do this pace and I do not have the capacity for it. And so I was starting to feel pretty pressured about the summer and like Stacy said the comparison of well you're supposed to go here go there like there's some sort of script for summer that I'm totally missing when all my soul wants to do is just rest and let God repair the deep wounding that has occurred over these couple of years and still is occurring. So I just fell such freedom and wisdom from this podcast. So I am just so thankful for all you guys. Bless you and I just feel like I already had permission of course from the Lord but I just feel like I have permission to do my pace, to do my capacity ,to do me.

Pondering the question ‘what do you need’. The stuff of life tends to become what I orient myself upon. I need to reposition myself in relation to God. This is where my heart is most taken care of. The wellspring of life. Perhaps I can do this frequently. Simply reposition myself in relation to God.

Seasons change, but our relationship with the Father doesn't, try to embrace what He has for you in each season and grow in that❤

My soul needs nurturing. I’m going to see my son, daughter in law and grandsons next week and it’s been too long since I saw them last. I thank you Stasi for “A great good is coming” as I will need that when I come back home. Thank you all for this podcast.

This is great, but I am laughing at your weather discussions. We live in Florida. The humidity hammer is down. We miss the Florida winter! Lol
