COULDN'T AGREE MORE, John!!!! at the 24:23 mark, you state, "I think we should REDEEM the word MYSTIC". There's a whole lotta redeeming that we need to be doing as Christian Mystics, IMO. So many of Papa's ideas have been hijacked and distorted down through the years and I, personally, am on a mission to be a part of that redeeming group of Christian Mystics!!! All Glory to Papa !!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Thank you for speaking to the loneliness of being a Christian mystic.

I love this topic and agree it is so relevant for today. AW Tozer spoke a lot on Christian mystics, so I totally agree with everything you are bringing to the table. As a follower of Jesus, I understand that my reality is a spiritual one, and I see things through spiritual eyes that only the Holy Spirit can give me. I rely on that spirit nature to guide me and lead me every day. Without that, I have no understanding and am blind.

As you may have recognized, I followed this series committed and with all focus of my heart. I wanna conclude with something that is just fair: We have to say both- what we do not agree with, and what we agree with. For a long, long time it was always a resounding within me. Not so now. I struggled coming in alignment with your hearts. Why? Oh, some things arent explainable, and we dont have to do so. Lets say: It was that way. I saw pathways I wasnt able to follow. I saw thoughts I rejected, I struggled my whole way through in deep search for a reconciliaton in message & Spirit. "His heart is a good one, Ive seen his heart. If this is not true, nothing is." Maybe...this is what kept me going. It was confrontational, it wasnt easy, and it was above all else, not always clear. Lets say, I ranged somewhere in the 70/80, sometimes only 50, often 90 % of agreement. Never I reached 100 %. It was torturing! I deeply believe there is only one truth. One voice of Holy Spirit. I dont believe in Holy Spirit contradicting Himself. One God. One truth. One heart. Unity. You took clear standings in that podcast by going through the questions, more than you may be aware of. With every statement, a burden dropped from my shoulders. With every answered question I delighted more. With every step I followed I started to shine more. 100 %, John. Total alignment with how I perceive Christ. Total reconciliation. I learned a lot about being shaped and about personal flaws and..above all else, we are called to guard our hearts. And the most important thing in my life- even where we due to cultural/ denominational shaping, personal opinions & stories differ, will always be that 100 % in agreement about Jesus and Holy Spirit, the way we must take to walk in his ways. Thank you for enduring. Dunno whether this series is a result of growth on your side as well as on mine- sometimes, its that way. But I am so, so glad that Im tearing up its that way. God bless you. Your words and standings confirmed my perception and ways I walk. What a story. Have a good time writing Ordinary mystics. May it be filled with mystical new aspects given to you out of a sudden. May Gods presence overshadow the work of your hands. With love. Sibylle.

Thank you for this awesome conversation, it has brought me full circle into understanding what it means and how to find the wilderness/kingdom within. My journey started with the “The Sacred Romance,” what an awesome thing to see us all be on a similar path. Thank you John Eldredge, for helping me see Father’s love, without that belief you helped me uncover, I’d be still be lost. To share with those just starting the journey into mysticism, root yourself in your identity of being a son, a CoHeir with Jesus (Neil Anderson), in my experience this opened me up to “Mystical Union’” to quote Justin Abraham. Just remember, the path is narrow, rest and it will be revealed.

Is praying the Jesus Prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on my a sinner" repeating it for 10-15 minutes. A safe and valid way of setting down thoughts etc. I'm wary of mantra meditation etc.

Thanks for your comments. There's no magic formula to repeating the same words over and over. Depending on the words, it may be helpful to memorize them. But it's never a word repetition issue but rather a heart issue. See Jesus' words in Matthew 6:7-8. Thanks again!

Great content! One thing I’m not clicking with though and it doesn’t have to do with the main thrust of the content but still important. Something doesn’t ring right with the Spirit in me when you say we have to pray to the right Jesus. That there may be millions of imposters I don’t doubt however, for the Christian…those covered by the blood of Christ, I’m quite sure “the right Jesus” the one who came in the flesh is the one who hears our prayers and protects that channel so to speak. To consider otherwise creates an unhealthy and unnecessary anxiety that is not from Him. The need to check all the right boxes in my prayers and communion with Him seems like a form of Gnosticism. Am I right or missing something? As a child of the Kingdom am I not covered and protected from missing some fine point like this? If not, what other little, nuanced mistakes am I making? This is a Pandora’s box of anxiety that threatens my security in Christ.

Thanks for this feedback. We'd suggest having a look at Matthew 24:23-25 to see how Jesus responds when dealing with false Messiahs who appear capable of deceiving his followers. A great example to follow!

I don’t think this is an every day occurrence. Like John said, when he starts to feel like something is off then he addresses it. It doesn’t happen often. But I have had an experience a dream with Jesus, but something was off. I felt unsettled. It wasn’t until years later that I learned, that evil spirits were even satan himself can appear in a way that we would assume it is Jesus. So I don’t think this is something that happens daily or commonly, but it’s important to be aware of. It is a reality and many have been thrown off because they encountered a false Jesus.

Can you please define a "toxic" church environment? In my opinion there is too much weight given to this and it gives people even more excuses to leave churches and then leaving churches aka "church hopping" becomes a habit. People begin to look for the reason to leave instead of looking for reasons to stay.
