Correction: AETAs don't live in the Mountain Province, they were the Igorots. Aetas live in the mountains of Pampanga, Zambales. There are ethnic group called DUMAGATS, same feature as the Aetas, that live in the mountains of Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon and Laguna. Thank you for the appreciation of this advertisement. Mom is so sweet...I thought when yiu said "tsaka na lang"...I thought "tsaka na lang mag flight"...I think Mom was thinking the same thing when you first said it... We would all love that storytelling on how you and Tom fell in love through signs. 1. For some reason, no matter how many times I see the Norman King ad, I still cry...Sadly, Pinoys are closet racists. We did get that from our fair-skinned conquistadors, from the Spaniards to the Americans (no offense meant to anyone...I am referring to more tumultuous times). But helloooo??? This is the new age! We only like to celebrate darker-skinned people when they’re famous for something. We have to stop that already! 2. The NIDO commercial was so-so. I was a bit turned off when they showed the first one on TV because it was already apparent that they were jumping on the serials-bandwagon. I wanted it to be a kind of surprise. 3. The Jollibee SIGNS commercial was the second of this year’s Valentine’s trilogy. The first was HOMECOMING, which I think you already saw (not saying anything more to not ruin the little surprise). The third was STATUS, which had a good message, though I felt it was the least well-received. 4. Yes, please, it would be interesting to know the TomKim loveteam story ;)

Sorry, the Aetas live in the Central Luzon area not Baguio. The Igorots are also found in Baguio, and they mainly occupy the mountain provinces of Northern Luzon.

Hi Ate Kim! The first commercial is not from the Mt Province or Baguio City (both CAR Region). I grew up in Baguio with my Igorot roots, from Mt Province and Benguet. Mr. Norman King is an Aeta, mostly Aetas are from Zambales, Central Region of the Philippines. ❤

Hi Kim I admire you for speaking you're mom's language. About the first video I learned from "maala ala mo kaya" that Norman's father is the head of the aeta's hence the surname king. Because they were all uneducated they would always be deceived by people from the city and little by little the land they cared for with their bare hands were being taken away from them . His father and their people would always use force to fight for their rights but lost in the end because of ignorance. Having realized that, norman went to school against his father's will and they argued a lot through the years because his father thought it was useless and didn't like the way he adapted to the city ways and life. But one day his father got jailed thru manipulation of the people who wanted to develop a big part of their land into a commercial area. That's the time he realized that his son was right. He had only one request from norman - that is to show the people who he really is on his graduation and be proud of his race. that was why he did not bother to wear the "toga" or gown. After finishing school he spent his life fighting for his people's right through legal means and has fitfully became the new leader of their people as his father passed on to him the responsibility.

That NIDO commercial series made me cry because I can relete to it. I am separated from my wife for almost 8 years now. What made me cry is that, it was easier for him because of two factors that prevent such situation to happen to me: he is apparently doing well and this is not true with me. The other factor is that my transgression with her is hardly forgivable. Sad facts of my life. Happy for you though because you have the priceless values nobody can ever steal.
