While I appreciate you being transparent and apparently seemingly trying, as a citizen of Loveland for the past ten years and a few run ins with officers here and there I can say they have progressively gotten worse over the last few years and are now very aggressive always trying to "get you" for something. It's very scary considering I was s******* assaulted by a police officer in another state which prompted our move here.. I'm no longer sure that was the best idea. I seriously don't leave my house and fear for my husband when he does (who has also unjustly been targeted after dropping my son off at school one morning). This is no way to live.

While I applaud the quick action to terminate this officer, it always puzzles me why it takes weeks to decide to arrest an officer for an incident like this. If I did anything close to this, I would be in cuffs and jail before the spit hit the ground. Non-law enforcement citizens are told that everything will be sorted out by the courts. LEO can commit assault and battery on camera and still go home that night. In addition, that nurse was a snowflake. She could have assisted in deescalating the situation but chose to be offended by a woman who was being evaluated for mental health/substance abuse problems. (The reason cited by the Chief for her being placed in handcuffs.) She directly contributed to the results. The charges against this woman should be dropped since she was antagonized by the officers and medical staff.

Nice to see how you cleaned things up for your benefit. She was wandering on private property in a parking lot, not on a highway, why are your officers patrolling private property. The officer picked her up for her protection? How did that work out for her? The officer at the hospital slugged her with a closed fist to the face, glad you realized that was inappropriate use of force. Is the lady much safer now that she sat in jail and now has charges pending? The best thing from this incident was letting the rookie, probationary officer go. I don’t see an arrest for HIS ACTIONS, was there some kind of misunderstanding with what he did to another human being, female at that? Was he ever booked for the assault? Charges filed? The playing field must be kept level, especially when dealing with the law. Blue line just getting thicker and thicker. Disgusting behavior, do better.

Charges should be appropriate taking into account any mental health issues. We live in Loveland. My son is schizophrenic and had a psychotic episode several years ago. He felt he was going to be attacked by someone on the street and lashed out with a metal bar. Police were called, he resisted and was tased a couple of times. Later, I was called and explained his mental issues. He was booked and charged. Luckily this county has a great program for offenders with a history of mental health issues. These officers need to be trained on how to handle citizens suffering mentally.

It appeared she spat in the floor NOT at hospital staff and then she spat at the cop toward his chest area AFTER he agitated her by taking her personal papers from her back pocket. Why did he need to take her papers - she already told him no. He instigated the whole mess but as police chief the facts should be presented clearly, not churching it up to make the cops sound less culpable for the situation THEY created! This woman, Angelia, was also agitated by the nurse asking the cop to speak on her behalf as if she were a child. I don’t understand why law enforcement thinks it is ok to treat people this way and expects them to not have any reaction. A truthful, balanced statement - one that included what the victim was put through - would have sounded much different than this.

What a great speech. Who wrote it for you? You can’t admit that you should have immediately fired this rogue officer. His certification should have been revoked. Don’t think about prosecution. He should be immediately charged with a crime. Your department has a terrible history of treating people with various forms of disrespect. Your officers laughed at dislocation of a woman’s shoulder. All police like to think their job is dangerous. Did you know a school crossing guard has a more dangerous job? Bet you didn’t. You probably don’t even care. Stop offering excuses. Clean the mentally unstable and aggressive officers with anger management issues out of your department. Stop those that laugh about hurting people. Take a refresher course on what you were supposed to learn at the police academy. Remove all the oath breakers in your department. Start with that. When you accomplish that, come back and ask the public to offer their suggestions, if any. Mr. Chief, you’re in charge. Start taking responsibility. Professionalism starts at the top! You’re lying. She was not in the roadway , she was in a parking lot devoid of sidewalks. She was harmlessly singing aloud. Your officers needed to leave her alone, instead they escalated the situation to the point this mentally ill woman lost it. The nurse knowing she was dealing with a sick woman chose to drop all professionalism and knowledge and took off offended by a benign spit that never touched her. She, as a professional, should have stepped in and calmed down the victim thus de escalating the situation. Notice I called the woman a victim because that is what she is, a victim of over zealous policing frequently resulting in violations of civil rights as well as physical harm to innocent citizens. You need to do better and if you can’t, step aside. Hand the reins to someone that can.

I through the BS flag here. I would bet that the report will read something like: Internal Affairs investigated this incident and found no wrong doing by Loveland police, its officers and or representatives. Corrective punishment or discipline will be forth coming.

Throw is spelled t-h-r-o-w not t-h-r-o-u-g-h. Before YOU complain about others make sure you can at least spell. Dummmmnnnuuuuuttss. Spelled wrong so I don't get flagged by YT.

@@bensteele5801He's fired but still has his POST meaning he can easily be hired by another agency, and more than likely will because that how they do it. Fire em so they look good them recommend them elsewhere and let them continue being a cop. Nothing changes.

You're only acknowledging it because so many influencers have called you out on it. We've seen the bodycam footage, and sorry, but your summary of events does not line up with the truth. Your officers harassed a woman walking around a parking lot. There were no cars driving anywhere near her while she was talking with your cops. And you still allowed her to go to jail and be prosecuted. You have a responsibility to the people in your community. By firing the deputy on separate and independent means that he won't be held accountable for what he did. That's a bullshit loser way to handle this. Fire him for what he did -- he assaulted a woman who was just singing a song while walking through an empty parking lot.
