@I like Potatoes Well im more comfortable with Snowden hiding in Russia/China rather than hiding with. Say Sudan/New Zealand/Australia. They don't have the balls/power to fight back. Remember Julian Assange (I think) The wikileaks founder? I forgot which country he hid but after some time (to cool off eyes) And some pressuring And financial incentives through economic deals. They finally give in. And gave Julian Assange to the US. America couldn't do that with Russia. Well they could but it would be much harder than any other country.

Pay phones, cordless, regular rotary dial, touchtone... C.B. walkie talkies... Not 24/7 with everything, but do recall the whole eyes and ears thing spoken of in my younger days. Key words, phrases.."triggers" which begun a recording process... Drug dealers next door, but no socialization with them? Chances were the whole neighbourhoid, apartment complex or condominum was bugged..hidden cameras and such.. 1970's "they" built a creation resembling a wasp or bird with a camera in it, sooo.. figure there was cameras like in smart devices probably in bird houses and other unknown places..listening devices..etc. Every purchase made on credit card on record..bank transaction, mail order catalouge.. "The list is long." Each one of us has some sort of tag, file..description, known associations, friends, family...all neatly tucked into an accessable system for police, governing bodies..what goes in not certian, but know if I go anywhere and they want me, smart device or not, three squad cars or more..matter of minutes, sometimes less..😅. Had a neighbour who within under two minutes had them at his doorstep in that old town we lived in... nearest law enforcement station was near 20 miles away... Strange how they are rapid in response time with some over others. "Makes you wonder." Guess it was only a few who knew back in the day, part of it was definately for legit concern...cold war buisness and all before that.. Rather creepy finding out there was Stazi or soviet union like social monitoring of the local population in our youth, and being told it was all our imagination... U.F.O.'s and fairy tales...told to get off drugs..etc. Recall one person saying, " just find a job, keep busy, stay out of trouble best you can like the rest of us..but do prepare yourself to live in diffucult circumstance just in case." Stuff going on everyday/everynight.. " seen enough" and been pulled over for b.s. reasons despite on ones way to and from work..shopping and other boring daily life stuff. Not everything "they" are up to is of ones concern, bigger fish to fry than most individuals in this predator and prey game via ones data, money and property. But do wonder some days where it all is going. Regular job, enough income to pay bills..food on the table, certian recreational activites in ones free time..(no drugs) and like others.." all good." Miss some of them old neighbourhoods where one could walk about all hours and not worry about what might happen or be spot checked by the law.. Still gets weird out here on occssion, but so far quiet compared to other regions. Hope them "Spooks" reading this realize after this whole time, all I wanted was a peaceful life away from the b.s. around me in my youth and nothing to do with the elements they tracked..go for bike rides, other outdoor activites on occasion and out of trouble spots, " snares" and such. "People are strange." Might not go out much, but not up to anything of concern.." boring is good for me."

Warning: The corona virus is now being used to launch a police state and implement personal surveillance techniques. If your phone is Android or iOS, your movement is being secretly tracked by a "Contact Tracing" app from Google or Apple. Windows Phones may also tracking apps mandated by the government. However, you can defeat any tracing app by placing your phone in a "Faraday Bag" which will stop all broadband signals from being transmitted or received. Just do a search for "Faraday Bag" and you can buy one from Amazon or other stores. As a precaution, turn you phone off (but do not remove the battery) before placing it in the bag. Also, the bag will prevent your phone from sending or receiving any calls, texts, or anything involving Internet service. So just use the bag when you don't want to be traced, then remove it and turn it back on when you want to go back to normal phone service. Also, assume you are being tracked all the time and you should not carry your phone with you in any public place unless you absolutely need to use it there.

Companies like Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, etc do collect personal data about each of us, but in my view, it is done more as a "collective" type of thing -- done more so to "sell" us things-- to direct advertisements/direct market to us, if you will. Then, there's what comes after the ads trying to convince us we need some new toaster or gadget, and that's the messages, often subtle, that try to change or direct out way of thinking. Political "non-ads" that are designed to look and read like actual news, and a great example of that is Russia's effort to sway public opinion in US elections, most notably the 2016 presidential election. It's just a faster, more direct, more pinpointed and more technologically advanced version of stapling flyers to lampposts.

i agree that he did a good thing when he blew the whistle on the NSA for their illegal surveillance... however, it is not good to blow the whistle, and then run to a bunch of communist governments, that have CONSTANT surveillance of their entire population, and could easily snatch him up and stick stuff under his fingernails until he tells them NSA secrets..

@@beunaventura66 Nah, this is just typical of Joe's podcasts. He lets his guests speak and elaborate their thoughts fully, especially in segments like this. He doesn't 'interview' them with an agenda, he just has a natural conversation with genuine inquisitiveness.
