I think the pink dress had potential to be really pretty but she just added the wrong details in the wrong places. I didn’t care for the ball gown. I did not like the blonde girls dress. It looks like when you make dress togas out of sheets as a kid, except everything is TULLE. Edit to add: and they have the other queen who employs her show up to the ball looking gorgeous with a beaded dress and then have the AUDACITY to act like she's blown away by Cinderella's gowns MY DISBELIEF CAN ONLY SUSPEND SO MUCH, IT WILL SNAP

Camila’s singing in this is a good example of why pop and theatre have different singing technique. Like yeah there’s some overlap, but not everything works

Well yes, but also if you’re a well trained singer you can do both and merge and overlap the techniques. Like Ariana grande, when she enunciates and does musical theater she sounds amazing and she can do pop as well. Many MT students are learning to sing both Bc that’s the direction Broadway is headed- more pop technique in musicals. A note on the jaw movement: It’s actually not good technique at all. The only way I’ve seen it work is with Ariana Grande, but tbh she’s an anomaly, and hers is much more subtle. Most vocal coaches/teachers will tell you that an over reliance on jaw movements can lead to jaw tension, which is a huge No No. It’s a shortcut to doing vocal runs, but as with most shortcuts, it’s unsustainable in the long run. Vocal runs should take place in the throat where the actual singing is done.

Once, just once, I want an adaptation where the dynamics are flipped, and Cinderella is the awkward out of touch one, and the stepsisters are the beautiful and smart ones. And instead of destroying her dress, the stepmother actually lets her go, so she can completely humiliate herself in front of the prince with her clumsiness and tacky dress. The prince is the complete opposite, but instead of making up for or overlooking her odd quirks, together they make the quirks work for them. Like if she trips while they're dancing, he turns it into an elaborate dance move. That kind of thing. But the twist here is that instead of the night being magical, it's a nightmare because now she's starting to feel everything she was told growing up, about how embarrassing she is, and runs away when she finally can't take it anymore. Instead of using the slipper, the prince requests she show up at the palace for a dance. Why this is genius: all he girls that show up actually dance beautifully, including the stepsisters, so he KNOWS it's not her. Instead of before the ball, the fairy godmother shows up when Cinderella's hiding herself away, to show her a different perspective of the ball. Specifically, what the prince actually thought of her, and how he saw her, klutz and all.

I’m still confused about why they made it completely just ‘im a girl boss I can work for myself’ cause the original Cinderella wasn’t even about having a man to save your life, she saw the ball as an opportunity to escape her abusive family and make a better life for herself and the prince 😭

Cinderella A Twist in Time is so interesting with the whole thing of the prince knowing his true love by the feeling of holding her hand and the magic that hides her step sister and how they’re actually sweet to each other. The way she needs to find him like he tried to find her in the first movie, also my favorite moment where the prince years himself out the window to go after Cinderella😂
