Aunt Galya is an amazing woman. Her house is spotlessly clean; she makes her own bread, jam, and more; she takes good care of her animals and has a nice garden; she's always happy, is a wonderful hostess, and can even touch the ground at age 70. @@RussianPlus I think the main cause of this war was the feeling of mutual hatred ( Russian & Ukrainian ultra nationalism) which was fanned by some internal and external forces of both sides with the connivance of their business partners and military strategists for their political and commercial interests.Media proven to be their strongest weapon. The only way to put an end to this conspired conflict which has been going on for the last decade and a half is by eliminating the negative feeling of mutual hatred & distrust( quite a hard task at this juncture) and the conspirators,war mongers that have fanned it. Without this solution, everything else is a temporary solution with which war can be postphoned or avoided for a while but cannot be ended. Unfortunately, people like her are not so prevalent in our world today. Many people could learn so much from her just by observing her everyday lifestyle. By the way, I love dill. I have a recipe that a friend from Germany gave me for cooking a pork tenderloin. It uses fresh dill, onions, paprika and white wine. It is so delicious 😋. It is great to have some spaezle as a side dish with it. Dill pickles and dill relish are also quite tasty. Sanctions seem to hurt the common people more than any government or their leaders. All I can do is pray for understanding and peace for all people everywhere. I realize that is an "impossible dream" but we must always strive for a world where everyone can live their lives in peace. Even though you may travel to a different country and or location, you are not simply a travel vlogger. Your interviews, your personal stories, your ethnography, and more sets you apart. You are missed. But I understand. And I believe you are continuing to do good things. 👍

My mother who is 96 and the youngest in her family, had sisters who prepared meals for the people who worked on a farm in the 30s. It was just like your mother described with milkmaids and enormous calorie meals. The flowers are Veronica.

I grew up in the country on a farm & you are self sufficient, because you have your own garden, you have chickens, cows & you can gather wild mushrooms, asparagus, elederberries & chokecherries. You can make jam with the berries. Bake your own bread. The only thing we bought at the grocery store was can soup, pasta, ice cream & drinks. I grew up in a state (Minnesota) that had the best soil. As an adult I live in a state (Wisconsin )where you can grow a garden but the vegs & fruit are not as big or taste as good. If you live like this you work a lot. I own the farm with my brothers my parents left in a trust for us so we could have family reunions & vacations there. We just had a family reunion in June. It is nice for the younger generation to see & spend time on a farm. My brothers have gardens at the farm. We rent the land out .Which pays the taxes.🇺🇸🦋🍓🍅🥕🥔🌶🍄🍉🌽🍎🍒🍗🥓🍳🌹🌼 Pamela

My mom passed a few years back and recently I had a memory of her making fresh bread. So I have been making my own every week instead of getting it from the store. It just taste so much better and I'm not even a big bread person. I miss a lot of the older meals my family had growing up that seems less and less folks cook. One thing I'm glad was when I was little mom taught me how to cook too so I would never have to depend on some one else to cook for me (or starve while single)...lol

Very nice video. It reminds me of visiting my grandparents farm in north central Wisconsin. The food there was always so much fresher and tastier than what you can buy in the city. Also great to see Vika again. I'm from southern Wisconsin, but I used to go deer hunting in the Minong area where she stayed and I often go hiking in the parks she visited.

yes, i agree. most people are good people with kind hearts and good intentions. and then there’s that tiny bunch that messes up things for the rest of us. they don’t give a damn about human lives. unfortunately Russia has a history of its leadership totally abusing the power. I want to cry right now. My family is Russian/Eastern European and grew up on a farm in USA. Seeing all the old wood and countryside brings back memories. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of news on how Russian soldiers are washing potatoes in toilets and stuff. Its always the "look at how poor Russia is." Trying to paint Russians as primitive barbarians or something. It's so impersonal. So upsetting really. You look at the floors and roofing and people see poverty. But when you live with this stuff, you see nothing of the sort. Could things be better? No. Could it be more convenient? Of course. Thank you for sharing

Not all foreigners hate dill. haha From US here and we love dill. I grow and freeze dill to use on things like potatoes (dill butter). I enjoyed this video and seeing your family and how your aunt lives. I feel there are good and kind people all over the world. It is the leaders and governments as well as wealthier people controlling things that can make things hard. You cannot blame the average person for any of that. Especially when their news or information is manipulated. I am so happy your Aunt is doing OK.

Them pancakes are exactly what I had this morning for breakfast here in Abu Dhabi, just an hour ago. They look exactly the same, we call them “خبز بيض" in Arabic, which literally translates to egg bread. We don’t eat them with jam or sour cream though, we just have sugar sprinkled all over them. We usually have them for breakfast on weekends like today or Sunday morning. The Russian and Arab pancakes are definitely different than the American ones in shape and texture etc. The one you had looks exactly the same to the one I’ve had, and you even folded yours in the same way I did, exactly I did three folds, and you did four.
@ia30782 жыл бұрын
In Bulgaria we cook the pancakes the same way, but we fold them like donner kebaps and hold both ends up eating from one of them. We put jam or honey in them, but they can be eaten with anything really - chocolate, ham with cheese depends on what you want or have.

They're internationally called crepes, but here in Romania, just like Russia, we call them pancakes and eat them with gem or spread them with chocolate and various fruits.

@ia30782 жыл бұрын
@@eEmm1 Oh I didn't know that's the name for those?! Nice info! In Bulgaria this is actually Palachinka ( Pancake 🥞) which comes from the Latin "placenta"... It appears that originally placenta meant "cake" and later in new Latin the term "placenta uteri" is introduced which means "flat cake of the womb"... Kind of explains the ritual of the birthday cake doesn't it, haha? ;) Turns out the name Palachinka(crepes) comes from the resemblance/association of the jam/jelly and the placenta inside the womb... I see that in Romania you use the word plăcintă for somwthing that wraps around cheese, so it's similar, but maybe you called it like this because your dish looks like a genuine cake! More interestingly the word can be seen in almost all Balkan languages including in the Magyar language(Hungarians), but interristingly it appears that South Eastern Europeans - Bulgarians, Croatians, Serbian, Macedonian, Czech, Slovenian, Slovak all (probably) use the Hungarian word... From what I remember Maximinus Thrax was the first Thracian ruler of the Roman Empire and he had his capital somewhere in Panonia... My guess is that after Thracians took control in their hands they made some language reforms and that they spread the word throughout the Eastern Roman Empire.. From what I see after Romanian language reforms from 19th century you renamed it to clătită, but who knows what you used during Bulgaro-Vlachian union haha... Languages in the world are so mixed that it's always fun to explore word origins. I'm done with this word been scrolling pages for more than 30 minutes, haha... or maybe should I say I'm finished(свърших, svarshih or as you say desăvârşit - this is actually a joke

Wonderful video story telling Slava @RussianPlus I enjoy it when you show your family life. It shows what kind of a person you really are. You have a nice family, though I am a little worried about Vika - she seems depressed. So, I hope she finds some joy again. I know that unexpected things come up in our lives and they can take a turn. I trust she will ultimately grow and become a wise young lady. She has so much in front of her, but she will have to see that for herself! Aunt Galya is wonderful. I love her lifestyle, with her chickens, kitties (company and love no doubt), garden, and generous and humorous spirit. It's good to see sweet Elina by your side too. About the "pancakes"; they look more like crepes - a thin form of "pancake", French in origin I believe, and usually rolled with goodies inside, to me. They look delicious.
