That truss of green tomatoes is still attached. You could probably leave them to ripen a little (get a blush of red to them), then you can pick them to further ripen in your house. Teach Maggie to climb your fruit trees and toss the fruit at the top down to you. 😄

I have always been using Ash to treat powdery mildew. It has never fail to get rid of it. All I do is lightly dust leaves with it. One or two applications usually do the trick. Also love your coexisting with the wasps.

We were just watching Charles Dowding. He removed most of the leaves from his melon plants, as like you, he was having problems with mildew. All is not lost for your infected plants, you should be able to remove the leaves too! Once you increase the airflow, they should grow on well. He also treated his tomatoes the same way.

The patio was one of the best ideas ever! It was half that size before and made out of rotting wood. Now it's an amazing area to grow and spend time. We're so happy with it :)

Hard work pays off! I love your gardens and property so much. So inspiring. The past 2 days we've been spreading 2 dump trucks FULL of arborists chips around our property in the scorching heat so I can appreciate all the work you have done. @@Lovelygreens There is a large section of our acre that is "country grass", weeds and this awful ground cover sedum type stuff. We have very sandy soil here. Tired of using gas & time just to cut weeds so had the thought to build the soil and create a food forest and perennial flower beds for my retirement years. There was no way to source the amount of cardboard needed so we just laid it on super thick & hope for the best. At least now it will retain rain water longer than 5min ☺️

It really is outstanding what you have achieved together in one year, structures, beds, polytrug, its really amazing and shows people it is achievable if you have the garden space. The wasp nest you may keep, what sort? I mean its an amazing structure but the thought of wasps would put me right off entering.

Thanks so much! It helps to have the current structures in and working so that we can move on and add more features to the house and garden. It's definitely a work in progress :) The wasps are called Median wasps, and honestly, they've not been a problem at all. I was very wary at first but staying calm and quiet and minding my own business has seemed to work. I had a couple of scares when an insect was buzzing around me, though -- both times, it was a curious bumblebee 😂

The pond will be bigger for sure! Work won't commence until this autumn to winter though it should be ready to go for next spring :) Bees are fine! Loads of supers are stacked on now, and I'll take the excess off at the end of September. They'll likely continue making honey right up to November, though.

I’ve just got rid of powdery mildew on my cucumbers by cutting off the worst affected leaves and regularly spraying the remaining leaves with milk diluted with water. I understand it works like an antiseptic and there has been some research done on it. Thank you for the tour, your garden looks great and I can appreciate how much work you’ve put in. Please can you share where the vertical grey strawberry planter on your patio is from? I’ve been looking for something like that for my garden.

You mentioned in another video that you freeze your eggplant...how do you do that and how do you use it after it's been frozen?

I didn't show it in the preserving video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2TCZGiPa62dnqc ) but what I did was 1. slice the eggplant into 1/4" slices and salt both sides. 2. Allow the salt to pull the moisture from the eggplant for about 20 minutes (helps reduce future bitterness) 3. Blanch the pieces in boiling water for four minutes. 4. Place into ice water to cool quickly. 5. Dry the eggplant on kitchen towels. 6. Lay the slices on a grease-proof paper-lined baking tray and freeze. 7. Place into a freezer bag for longer storage. Frozen eggplant can be used similarly to fresh, but the pieces are soft when defrosted. Perfectly fine for ratatouille, eggplant parmigiana, or moussaka

It doesn't work, unfortunately. It's one of those false gardening tips that floats around the internet. The only thing that really works against powdery mildew is a specialized fungicide. It would not be organic, and, at least in the UK/IoM, you would need to be a garden professional to order and use it.

The wasps will become more aggressive as the year goes on. Their food sources start to die and they become cold. I've been stung many times by these because my parents left them thinking it was okay, however, they will attack and sting for no reason. Do yourself a favor and take them down before you regret it.
