Lately, I’ve seen more lolitas say that while solids are versatile, prints are *easier* for beginners, because it does the color theory work for you. Prints also help set a specific tone and theme which, as a beginner, can be useful. That being said, I am ride or die for solids, so if you are up to the challenge and have a good grasp on fashion skills go for it!

Watching them having a tea service makes me jealous. There is a museum/historical site near me that does tea service with lots of little pastries and finger sandwiches. Last time I went a girl (teens or early 20s) was having her birthday party there. She and all her friends were wearing Lolita fashion. All the other women there were complimenting the girls. I think something particular in seeing cosplayers get into diffrent fashion, is making it personal vs. Keeping a specific idea of how a character will look (in particular to specific cosplayers who specialize in replication of the character. Into real life that i would say she falls in) in the Sweeter pink cord at the end. You see how she was feeling herself, and with the Alice look. That had a lot of good elements, the choice of stockings were possibly based on the choice of emulating the formula of Alice's look. But it could also be the shoes were a miss match. Because the dress has some strong white and black But i love how she used her natural hair for some of the looks and i think it looks really cute with short hairdos.

Lol I recently wore lolita when my husband and I went to eat for our anniversary. It was ott sweet and when we walked into the dining room we were being seated in I had so much trouble not laughing at all the double takes and how quiet it got. If it's something your not used to it would be intimidating. Which is funny cuz my husband is super shy so attention is uncomfortable for him but he is so supportive about me wearing alt fashions. Girls hold out for someone who respects you enough that they are okay with a bit of uncomfortable attention when you go out. It has made wearing it so much more fun and he is even supportive of our 6 year old wearing princess dresses out with me. It doesn't get any better than someone you can absolutely be yourself with.

Actually people in cosplay drive/travel in puplic transport in cosplay to conventions. And we go to restourants after or during convetions in cosplay because food at the cons is bad and expensive. We also hang a lot in the parks around the conventions. And when you stay at a hotel , people at the hotel see you in cosplay etc. People that are really into cosplay also go out with friends (that are cosplaying from the same franchise) to restourants that their caracter would go to, or hang in parks. We also have photoshootings in puplic. Some of us allso go to the cinema in cosplay , cosplaying someone from the movie.

Funny enough the bodyline yellow pink scalloped edge dress was my first official Lolita dress I bought also. I was struggling to find a dress in my price range and with my size and found it on lace market. I wanted something simple and less than $100 that I would wear casually as quarantine had just started where I live and just wanted to see if I liked it. After getting the dress and a quick try on with a old petti I owned I made some additional purchases to start a wardrobe to hopefully make a half decent coord one day. The thing with cosplay is you experience strangers being weirded out because as you said travelling to and from the con, or when doing photoshoots outside of cons has you be around people in full or partial get-up with no context and you get a lot of staring and questions - for me at least, I got really used to strangers staring at me and friends when all suited up. Honestly it helps a lot when wearing anything out of the ordinary like lolita or J-fashion and may have people staring; I'm pretty oblivious to it nowadays it's pretty comforting haha.

I somehow managed to actually put my petti on while staying inside my teeny tiny car, and while I didn't use the car's window for a reflection to put on my accessories, I did use my rear view mirror. Long story short, the rushing-to-a-meetup-with-half-your-coord-in-a-bag-in-the-back-of-the-car struggle is so real.

I think some lolitas don't really have option to brands, here in Brazil its really REALLY expensive to buy anything brand and also items that an artist did all in the dresses like the last vid of black owned lolita brands, which was amazing to see but for a plus size brazillian lolita thats just too much, just saying because thats why i dont think any lolita with a plain fabric dress is in cosplay(and there's been controversy in our community too, of saying such lolitas are not really lolitas, lol not everyone has 2k or more(in brazillian money) to spent on a dress
@milenartmeire25884 жыл бұрын
Just when I was wondering about the brazillian lolita community I read your comment. Brazillian here, I'm not lolita, but I really like the style and have always wanted to try it out.(but I lack the confidence to invest on it) I was wondering how the brazillian community deals with how expensive our taxes are for foreign products, since I believe there are not many re-sellers around here. My guess is there might be a lot of improvisation to put coordinates together while still saving money.
@Lyuciferrr4 жыл бұрын
@@milenartmeire2588 Exactly, as a lot of brazillian people can't buy on taobao for example, which is a huge deal for US, Canada and European lolitas, and depend on shopping service, along with the fact that a lot of western products get stuck and taxed, sometimes ONLY the tax is the same or more than the actual product cost, thats why i want more brazilian alternative fashion brands, like cotton candy shoes which i commented about on Lor's vid reviewing them
@Saekaichan4 жыл бұрын
@@Lyuciferrr I'm not familiar with the Brazilian Lolita scene so please excuse my questions. I am a USA Lolita, and we too rely on shopping services from China in order to shop from Taobao. Alternative to Canadian Lolita's we do not have major customs fees / taxes in which they have to pay. My group regularly do thousands of US dollars in group orders from Japan while using a shopping service. Even with the shopping service fees and international fees it is still cheaper to order from Japan than to try to buy 2nd hand within the US normally. I do understand that the currency difference may make it very hard to afford brand, but maybe you can shed more light on that? Thank you for reading.
@Lyuciferrr4 жыл бұрын
@@Saekaichan Yes, it is as you say, even with shopping service it's still more expensive, because of that there's a lot of reselling, but usually from person to person not someone who gets like 50 dresses and sells them here, but mostly lolitas i know end up buying them from brazilian handmade stores, which are beautiful but there's less options on the prints of the fabrics, and a lot of stores do replicas/inspire from of pre existing dresses, as not many are artists themselves, so there's been some discussions on replicas here but a lot of lolitas will stll get one if thats all they could get, also some could not get japanese/chinese brand because they are an unique size mostly, and it don't fit curvy ppl much, i hope i have helped, i'm not a lolita but i love the fashion and i have Lolita friends.

I feel like pattern is entirely personal preference. I find it odd that lore would dissuade newbies from a non pattered look simply because it seems closer to a costume. If anything it feels more wearable because a plain colored dress with frills is less shocking than one with teddy bears. I think it’s the perfect dress for a beginner and it presents more options in terms of styling and dressing down the look for non Lolita outfits

This is a genuine question: can i wear lolita in cosplay? Its basically a coord I already own, so its the same as a closet cosplay (Closet cosplay is when you use items you already own to recreate your favorite characters' outfits. It's a great way to get creative without spending money. It's great for turning anything and everything into a costume.) I was wondering because it might be considered ita or something else.
