Lyrics
Don't ask me how, but guess who hit the big time
Don't look now but guess whose back in town
It's so easy don't even have to try
Your the winner you can take the prize
It's a dream come true which one will it be
It's a dream come true we'll just wait and see
Only the lucky one's get to steal the show
Only the lucky one's really get to know
Only the lucky, Only the lucky one's get Lucky
Same old story somethings never change
With a beautiful girl everything's prearranged
Your whole life it comes to you for free
You wear it well it comes so naturally
It's a dream come true which one will it be
It's a dream come true we'll just wait and see
Only the lucky one's get to steal the show
Only the lucky one's really get to know
Only the lucky, Only the lucky one's
Don't ask me how, but guess who hit the big time
Don't look now but guess whose back in town
It comes so easy don't even have to try
You're the winner you can take the prize
Lucky ones
Only the lucky one's really get to know
Only the lucky, Only the lucky one's

Class of '85 here (high school)! Yeah, these guys had some of the most rocking tunes, especially around 8th or 9th grade or so. This song, and also Working for the Weekend, and some Rush and Triumph songs, of course, were my bread and butter. I used to listen to this stuff on my super-cool Aiwa Walkman, while running miles and miles to train for the track team. Good times!! Now, of course, my knees and back are always giving me crap, so the running needs to be toned down a bit, but I can still listen to these songs.

Probably my favorite Loverboy song. It isn't very flashy or spectacular, but I like it that way. The guitar riffs are great, Mike Reno brings fire with his vocals, and the band is just firing at all cylinders for sure here. Shame it doesn't get more airplay today.

I was 7 in 1981 and my parents, particularly my dad, were huge fans of Loverboy. I remember being shipped off to Grandma’s because they were going to yet another concert. I can remember very vividly the sound of Loverboy coming from the 8-track playing in our 1978 Dodge Magnum and me singing every word to every song even back then. Lucky Ones is one of my favorites and to this day at age 40, I can still sing almost all of the lyrics. I grew up on bands like this and still love them now.

It's not that rare with Canadian, British and Australian bands. American bands are lucky to make it one year with all the in-fighting and jealousies. American bands usually hate each others guts, even the ones who manage to stay together for a long time.

It’s so important to not let these moments, this era, the music, the trends and styles… and so much more… never be forgotten. Even through all the crap we all went through, it was still the best of times

The bass player you see in this video.. Scott Smith died 21 years ago. 30 November 2000. Tragic boating accident. He was lost at sea but his legacy lives on through Loverboy's music. R.I.P. Scott..

DUDE!! I Forgot about this tune!! Dang I love youtube and Loverboy. Love the lead singer's voice. He delivers these songs to death!!! Loverboy makes some of the best strut'n music. I am going to put on my daddy's 18K gold frame Ray Ban aviators circa 1976 and strut off to the post office listening to Loverboy. Watch out..here I come baby..HERE I COME!!!! I am super pumped up!! YAY!!!
