DJ Gilla is the founder and A&R for First Word Records, home to artists including Children Of Zeus, Kaidi Tatham, Allysha Joy, Don Leisure and more. A resident at WWFM, Gilla has been exploring the soulful side of music for over two decades.
For my selection I’ve picked some of my favourite UK soul jams, taking in Acid Jazz, street soul and lovers rock. The history of British soul music is too often forgotten so I wanted to shine a light on some of the great music that we’ve produced right here on our doorstep.
