The ByTerry ombre sticks have a great formula also, awesome on mature eyes, though they are pricey ... I am 50 with hooded and wrinkly lids, and just got a couple of these .... I can actually wear the shimmer without it aging my eyes because they are not super shimmery like powders and don't settle into lines, just love them! Worth the money, in my opinion. I like to mix them with the LM caviar sticks, my combos.... -> LM "Fog" as a base with BT "Mercure" on top of it; -> LM "Khaki" with BT "Mercure" -> LM "Cashmere" with BT "Frozen Quartz" -> BT "Bronze Moon" on its own is gorgeous.

Found this video months later. I really enjoyed the advice being given here. The things I have learned with makeup and eye makeup specifically: practice makes perfect; definitely take time to tweak certain things like placement of crease color / blending color higher or lower on the crease depending on your eye shape and how you want your eyes to look; if you doing your own makeup for an event make sure you give yourself plenty of time and do your eyes first and then your face; less is more!

I love cream eyeshadows. They are the eyeshadow product I use 90% of the time. What works for me is using my fingers for initial application (spreading the product across my eyelids), and then go in with a small brush after for blending. I use the Revlon Colourstay Cream Eyeshadows as I only buy drugstore products.

I swear by cream eye shadow (charlotte tilbury eyes to mesmerize in star gold) GORGEOUS and easy. I pat it down on my lid and blend it quickly into the crease with my finger. I add bronzer into the crease to help make the transition smoother. I personally think cream is amazing.

I love your channel. For me, you are up there with Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge and Alexandra Anele. These are extremely helpful tips - thank you. The only problem with Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and CT products are that they aren't cruelty free. I'm really trying to avoid cosmetic products that aren't cruelty free. I bought some of the Kiko Milano - who, BTW, have awesome customer service - and one of the e.l.f. ones...so, still experimenting and will try more of your tips. I read in one of your comments that you are going to do a video of the e.l.f. sticks? Also, I have lips like yours, and it's so refreshing to see a YT who hasn't gone the road of lip fillers. Hi Shelby I like creams but I always get crinkle lines on my lids eyeshadow is a pain but eyeliner is worse never comes right thanks for this any advice?
@AllyKit4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shelby. You introduced me to the caviar sticks and I love the ease of application. However I have mature hooded eyes. My question is how far to take the transition shade or crease color up the lid? I find that when I do, it looks too shimmery and emphasizes the texture, making my lids look crepey. (I use the original colors not the Amplified) I watched the video you did with your mom a while back and I noticed you didn’t really put anything on her upper lid to make her hoods recede. Am I wrong? When I put all the color on the moveable lids, my eyes look more deep set. I have to add powder on the hood but would prefer not to. Help! Would love to see you do more videos with your mom, with the close up angles you use on yourself. Because everything looks great on you but for us mature ladies, the struggle is real!

I would suggest a really small amount of something like Caramel in the crease if you want to bring a shade up further. I think it's totally fine to define your crease but probably most flattering with a completely matte color.

Thank you Shelby for explaining about the cream eyeshadow. I like the Charlotte Tilbury Jean it’s easy to use .but I struggle with the Laura mercier caviar stick original Amethyst on my mature hooded eyes I think I have used too much and perhaps I will try a different brush as you have suggested it. Thanks for your advice! It’s really useful. I’ve never been very good with powdered eyeshadows. I’m more of a one and done type of chick. But I love the multidimensional look. So I’ve recently started using creams. They are a real time saver. And they look amazing. The only issue I have is that there are barely any good palettes out there. So I’m building my setup from scratch. It’s costly but it saves me time and that’s what I love the most!! ✨✨

I bought my first Caviar Stick today! I bought Cobblestone, because I knew it would be a safe choice since Ulta isn't allowing testers at this time. I'm wondering whether you tried the eyeshadow sticks by The Balm? I picked up one a local cosmetic shopquite a while ago. I believe the shade is Batter Up (they have baseball names) - a pearlescent purple, not full on shimmer. I find the blendability to be quite good, all day wear, and they don't dry out in the tube like my two Stila did. Mid range price.
