Color Night Vision Goggles Review - Akaso Seemor 200

I test out an interesting new product from Akaso. If you have watched my videos over the years, you may know I've utilized Akaso action cameras, both the older V50 Elite and the newer Brave 8 model. They have been handy in capturing underwater video footage when boating.
Recently, I accepted Akaos's offer of the Seemor-200 night vision goggles for review. The Seemor utilizes AI technology to produce a full-color image even in low light. It has several levels of zoom and can record in 4K video and take photos. I'm excited to test it out this snowbird season in the USA's southwest desert. It will be interesting to spot nocturnal nightlife!

It sounds pretty impressive, but does it live up to the advertising? I'll split my review into two videos to find out. First, we'll see what the kit includes, its physical look and feel, settings/adjustments, the companion smartphone app, and a demo of it in action. Then, after some time using it in the field, I'll return in a second video with real-world footage from my desert camping trip and my review, likes/dislikes, and that sort of thing.

Looks like an interesting little gadget, could be used for spotting critters around your campsite when boondocking. Don't know how much use we get out of it, we struggle to stay up till Arizona midnight (9 PM). I guess I could use it when get up a 5 a.m. to go for a walk. Lol

Very nice review. I appreciate your work and in this case I"m going to hold off on the Akoso night vision goggles. They didn't seem to perform as well as I'd like to see but maybe in your next review they will be better. lack of image stability on a handheld device was disappointing and I don't think you will be able to get much clarity or focus on late night nocturnal critters based on what we can see so far. I have learned so much from you over the years and I really do appreciate you and all your hard work! Thanks

You bet. Seems like a decent device to see things in the dark but I don't think the photos or video of wildlife will be of stellar quality that is for sure. Hoping to get some shots of things like coyotes or maybe Javelinas that I can hear but never can see. :)

Thank you. I'm curious how the camera does recording the night sky when it's clear out. How well does it pick up the stars? Have you tried recording them?

It works pretty good, I definitely see more stars. Footage can be a little pixelated. Here is footage I recorded of last night's SpaceX rocket launch from the coast near LA. We could see it here over near Death Valley. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnekeH5_at91d6M

The footage might have been better if you weren't turning like you were sitting on a record player. I have yet to figure out when people do these types of reviews, they have to turn around and around. Try this for a change, put the thing on a tripod and take your hands off it so people can actually see what the picture looks like when it is still. If yours were the only review on YT, I would never buy this because the video is extremely grainy, you can't make out anything. I know you or other people are not going to like this comment but, if the truth hurts.

Well, it kinda sucks if a product needs to be used on a tripod. Big negative! Would it kill them to add some stabilization given the level one zoom is already quite far out there. Very hard to hold it steady by hand. Here is a tripod example at night with moonlight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5OVYmythqp-l5I The first half is color vision, and the second is IR model level 1. After using it for a while, I can tell you if you expect a nongrainy video, it won't happen with this product even on a tripod. It's pretty impressive, given that it's very dark out, but it's not clear, and even though the files are 4K, it's not that great of a resolution to look at. Same with the night sky. @@LoveYourRV I agree that stabilization would be great and while $300 night vision isn't going to produce the greatest of stills or video, it wouldn't hurt to slow down on the turning since you already seem to know the picture quality isn't that great to start with. One of the reasons it is so grainy is the refresh rate/Hz is very low. The same is true on a lot of security camera's. Unfortunately, for better night vision, you'll need to spend $1000+. I apologize for being so harsh on my comment but, just give it some thought on the turning around. Have a great night.

It is very hard to hold them still by hand even when not moving at all, given the default telephoto lens in such a small package. And when you zoom even more it gets much worse. I think it was good to give people a realistic look at what to expect so they aren't disappointed. Looking at the shape, one would think they could be used like a regular set of binoculars.
