I trust the Scannerguy, he knows what he’s talking about. Just ordered one direct from Akaso .

I just ordered this one when I saw your video ! I also just subscribed. I have been seeing the same kind of sky activity here in Utah but I have no way to record it, this will fix that issue. For the first time this last Sunday the 29th of Dec at around 5 am I had some drone activity in the mountain range just to my east. I was wishing I had a way to record it. There were 5 of them. In all of my years living here this was a first. These were not orbs or any other typical aircraft, they were drones with no nav lights only strobes and they were large but made no noise at all. This is getting crazy as I would have never thought I would see this where I live as it's remote outside of a small town in eastern Utah near the Colorado border... Thanks for the information on this camera, it will solve my issue of wanting to record what I'm seeing...Cheers

Needs a wide angle lens attachment and would have been nice for non proprietary battery like a 21700 or something

Like Nightfox kit, Akaso achieves high photosensitivity by over-driving their sensors, running it at a reduced resolution and also dynamically trading framerate for exposure times as available light decreases. This makes such devices useless for UAP spotting, as you can see from the terrible trails demonstrated above - they _need_ the IR illumination in order to get their maximum (usually only 20 - 30 FPS) framerate, so are only useful for close-range observations, maybe hunting, caving etc. For UAP spotting you obviously don't want to be putting out any illumination yourself, since this will only ruin your device's contrast ratios, whilst attracting and illuminating bugs. UAP put out their own IR light, and _this_ is why NV goggles are good for spotting and recording them. Besides, most will be much too far away to be reflecting any of your emissions back at you. On all my NV cameras the IR lights are blacked out! If you can, disconnect the IR LED and save your battery.. For clarity, you want the device to *be* in IR mode, you just don't want to be emitting any IR yourself. I would recommend reviewing the NV8160 as a more suitable alternative in the same price bracket. This unit _does not_ produce trails, maintaining a solid framerate regardless of lighting conditions. Moreover, it allows the user to select constant or variable framerates from a good selection, allowing you to optimise exposure times in any conditions without incurring trails..

Got the Seymor today, went out into the dark and ask myself all the time: "HOW DOES IT WORK???" I mean, it is really dark and still it show the correct color?! I am looking forward to point it to the heaven. I mean, I could see things up there moving all the time just with the naked eye. (long before anyone was talking about drones I mentioned, that there are strange things going on up there)

I was going to get one of those but ended up with an ATN thermal night vision scope. Two very different ways to see things at night but thermal will not see the sky that well. Only airplanes, birds etc. I would like to have both. I wonder what your reason was to go IR instead of thermal? Great explanation video. I appreciate it. Oh wow. That was way cheaper than my scope was. I will definitely get one. I could have bought ten with what I paid for full thermal night vision.

Terrible device. I ordered it and tested last night. Returning it to amazon. It's almost unusable due to the software it has in it, the manual focus is tacky and hard to adjust, can't change IR from colour to B/W whilst recording, nor zoom, nor IR level. IR camera gives you glow effect on the right side of the screen on 2-7 IR level. A lot of shambles if you ask me. Also there are 2 types of IR cameras - military grade catching lower red waves and this... plus the software gimmics (a deal breaker really) - return. When uing it remotely you need to connect the phot via wifi - and it asks you to turn on mobile data to download the firmware and my phone doesn't let me do that. Couldin't find firmware on akaso website neither. When connecting the app on the phone to camera you can't change camera settings at all as the software thinks it's recording when it's not. The delay in transfering image remotely is insane. This whole thing feels cheap. The quality of images / photos of the sky are appaling. High compression and artifacts. 24fps max. The Mp4 container of the vieo seems to be unusable in Adobe Premiere unless you convert it via another software - it says meta header error something... What a disaster.
