Thanks Ray. Nice job. So glad our MH does not have those type of blinds. I dealt with a problem in one of our 5th wheels, but just a two string version.

I did the same several years back. I never seemed to get the tension right on the bottom screw on each side. Played with it for a long while. Took all the shades out when I completely redid my interior and went with light/heat blocking curtains that I custom made. No valences, wrap around curtain rods.

That's what I'm dreading. The bottom pegs in the wall and getting the tension right, by myself. I am not patient so I will have to channel Ray the entire time.

Wonderful timing! This is about the only repair project I have on my trailer. It hasn't bothered me too much, but last weekend, with our abnormally hot weather, I would have liked to have the shade working properly.

Great job. Good advice on the beer. Definitely "step two". 😉 I have to redo most of the day/night shades in the Class A I just bought. One needs to be restrung but it's a smaller one, thank God. I appreciate your helpful videos, as always. Thanks much, Ray. Cheers. 🥂

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. The four string one was entertaining.

Had to do the same repairs also a couple. Someone suggested using heavy fishing line instead of cord. I think I used 60 lbs line. Still working great and the sliding motion is super smooth.

I had one of those accordion shades fail and just replaced it with a pull down shade from Lowe’s. It was real easy and most of all real cheap! A lot easier to put up and down as compared to the accordion style.

Ah, we had to repair the 4-string blind strings last summer. It didn't go perfectly, quite frustrating actually, but it works again at least.

I have some version of day/night shades on my RV and they are hard to pull up or down. Have any suggestions on how to fix that problem?
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
You could loosen the tension on the cords via the little round plastic knobs that anchor the cord to the wall. If you let a bit more slack out so they aren't as tight they should be easier to use. I've also heard some people use candle wax on the strings.
@dirtroadsailing64183 жыл бұрын
@@LoveYourRV Thanks Ray, I'll give that a try.

You didn’t show how you attached all the strings on the first rail with the spring.?
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did. Shows them tied to the top spring here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5OrZ3mslr53nMk But, don't worry it's in the manual that comes with the kit.
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
The top of the blind has a thin plastic insert in the cloth material. It just slides into a slot on the metal rail. You'll see when you take the broken on apart.
@bobgodfrey95242 жыл бұрын
How did you determine what length to cut each cord?
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Measure the old broken cord pieces or just use a full length replacement and cut off the excess when finished

You make it look way too easy. Lol those things kick our butts every time. And they break a lot on us for some reason.
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
haha, yeah they are kind of tricky! We have been lucky 2nd one in 10 years and that is full time living using the shades almost everyday. But maybe that is the reason, they stay nice and loose. Cheers, Ray
@WeretheRoberts3 жыл бұрын
@@LoveYourRV haha. We’ve been full time in ours for 4 years and have had every one of them break on us at least once. Except the bedroom one that always stays closed. Lol. We actually have 2 right now that are broken. Kristi says it’s time to put in new roll down shades. Haha.

Maybe the blinds have gotten poorer quality over the years, I wouldn't doubt it. :) I actually recently changed our kitchen counter blind that was a metal blind that my dog pretty well destroyed one time, severely bent a bunch of the vanes. I installed a cheap Home Depot vinyl roll-up for the time being as the exact size is hard to find but I find it's always losing its position, major pain, guess I got to bite the bullet and get a better quality one.
@WeretheRoberts3 жыл бұрын
@@LoveYourRV lol. I’m sure the quality has gotten worse. Hey things could always be worse though right? Haha. God bless you guys and thanks!!!!
@RogerSayers2 жыл бұрын
Ray, nice video but PLEASE! No more fast forwarding! You should have kept the video at normal speed so we all could see just what was being done. That fast forward gets ya a thumbs down, but for getting it done and it working again, I'll give ya a thumbs up. I'm about to restring one of my day/night shades. It's 6 foot wide and I'm sure I'll use every curse word in the book and more LOL Now I've done the two string shades with no problem and only a few curse words.... Rot-R-Done However, I'm thinking about getting rid of all those shades and going with Levolor mini blinds.
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Here is a simple solution for you. On the KZbin video player hit the settings gear icon and select 0.25 speed. :)

The hardest part of the whole thing is putting the rails back on after you have the cord threaded through. Why did you skip that and not show it? That didn’t help at all.
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
Maybe you missed it or didn't see the link but I mentioned I had previously done a video with quite a bit of detail on how to change the strings. Here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJPLk6KflNuafLc

"First one is threaded"...?....magic. I expected to see how it was done...that wasn't very informative...oh well.
@LoveYourRV10 ай бұрын
Oh well, get what you pay for I guess, eh? haha It's not magic, though. Simply push the string through the holes. You don't have to do it all pleats at once; just do a few at a time. It's easy. This is a clip from the first video where I did the 2 string blind kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJPLk6KflNuafLc Cheers! Ray
