Lima is the only megacity in the Americas and perhaps in the world with a panoramic view of the sea which can be seen from a boardwalk full of gardens along the way. It is also the second desert metropolis on the planet. The historical center is a world heritage site and as such it has "outstanding universal value" according to the Organization for the Education, Science and Culture of the United Nations (that is, people who know what they are talking about). Interesting activities? Surfing, museums with prehispanic erotic art from ancient civilizations, a park with exotic animals from the Amazonian rainforest, the largest water fountains in the world, ancient monumental architecture from the Lima culture which includes gigantic temples and antiseismic pyramids even in the middle of the financial centers, and of course, an interesting gastronomical adventure.

Honestly the city is just horrible. Very noisy, very dirty with buildings in a bad state, even historical buildings, old houses such as the ones we can see in Barranco. The main roads (avenues) are just a nightmare. Again, very noisy but also ugly with a lot of casinos, ads, etc.And from a cultural point a view, what the city offers is really disappointing. There a few interesting activities but only in the richest districts. In the other ones you can't even find a libray. And when you find one, you sometimes even can't see the books by yourself. It is just a small room and you have to ask an employee to bring the books you want... Nobody reads books. There are very few bookshops too. I live near a park, nobody reads in the park. In France people bring books to the park, to the beach, they also read in public transportation.... In Peru people don't. If you want to go to the cinema, you just can see commercial movies. Usually American ones. There is no space for independent movies, except in a few cultural centers. And it is so complicated to go from a district to another one because of the traffic. They are constructing a metro but it seems to be a joke. It is sooooooooo small. It looks like the metro of a little city, absolutely not suitable for such a big city. And there is a lot of pollution too, and very few organic shops even if there are a few organic markets, but only on Saturdays or Sundays. And there is a lot of road insecurity. I am afraid everytime I have to cross a street. People don't stop when they see you, they just use the horn in order to ask you to move. It is very dangerous. To me they are real savages when they drive and Lima has very little to offer.

isaac Bringas True, it used to have european cultural levels, but then inmigration from the highlands happen, and people became. Europa is having the same problem with african inmigration. This happened here but with people from the same country

Also, 3 buildings in Lima have been recognized and have received awards. These include AVA159, Real 2 and UTEC which earned the prize as "The Best Building in the World."

A big part of the culture: old buildings painting etc. has Spanish origins. Ive been more than 10 times to lima, its a not a human city. A lot of problems, delincuency, pollution, etc. Etc.

Don't waste time with Lima. This video looks like propaganda to me because it is so different from the reality. Please have a look at what Lima looks like on Google maps for instance. This is a real nightmare. The vast majority of buildings are awful, even the historical center is ugly. A few ones have been restaured but even in such a touristic place you see awful buildings and it is so noisy!! There are very few parks, you can't move easily from a district to another one. Their metro is incredibly small. It is always crowded although it is really recent (and with only 2 lines I think currently). You can't cross a road without thinking you'll die because they drive like savages. They never stop, just use their horns to ask you to stop. They have to build bridges for pedestrians because nobody respects them and zebra crossings are not useful in this country.... Again, this is really ugly and absolutely not suitable for many people (older people and people in a wheelchair for instance). Some people can't even cross because of this lack of respect. I remember my husband having to intervene in order to help an old woman crossing the street.... In the buses it is the same problem. Their drivers don't even wait in order to let old people get on and get off. Once my husband saw how an old woman fell on a bus because of a driver.... They are savages. There is almost 0 cultural life in many districts and a few interesting cultural activities in Miraflores and maybe in Barranco, and La Molina I guess (the most expensive districts). There are almost no libraries and no bookshops (a few ones, but not many). The educational offer is of poor quality. Really there are more interesting places to visit and to live in.

There are enough parks considering you are in a Megacity, the second largest in the world, situated in a desert. Learn where you are before you say something that stupid. Peru is the center of Andean civilization, so that kind of means the contrary of "savages" The whole country is a freaking museum. Learn history Older people have lived in Lima for hundreds of Years. Really, I checked!
