Loving Pit Bull Rescued from Dogfighting Raid - Meet Hank

UPDATE: Sadly, Hank
recently lost his battle to cancer. He was an amazing dog and an inspiration to everyone. Hank was a true example of how dogfighting dogs can and do make great family members and should never be judged by their past.
Hank was rescued from the second largest dogfighting rescue in United States history in August of 2013. Help us share his story in hopes to stop the brutal, criminal act of dogfighting.

I am a 71 yr. old women and I have rescued animals since I was 3 yrs. old with my dad's help, the dog in the picture with me is a rescue, I have never had a puppy. I saved my money and I bought 5 acres of land when I was 22 yrs.. old and that's where I started rescuing all kinds of beautiful animals, but mostly pit bulls. I can tell you it was much harder to help animals then because we didn't have the internet and the Humane society. I am so proud of these young people that give all they have to help these beautiful animals. Thank You, Humane Society for all you do.

That's an assumption on your part Derek. I would give it a dislike because I see a lot wrong with it on several areas.One of the first things I saw was the dogs,no matter what you think were being fairly well kept by the person accused of being a "dogfighter", The dogs,especially Hank were at a good weight,not malnourished,The later clip of Hank shows him with signs of obesity from being overfed and not exercised enough. Their areas around where they were kept was clean,the water bowls were full and there wasn't any signs of massive scarring or limbs missing you would see on dogs that were fought regularly. It was across the board,well kept,clean kennel areas with dogs in good condition except for the dogs being held on chains which is a common security measure taken by breeders of APBTS to keep them from killing other dogs. It was clear to me that it was a dog breeder and not a dogfighter.I see the video doesn't mention what the outcome of the court case is.The person involved may have been not guilty as charged.

This gross dogfighting has got to stop. After rescuing, the scumbags (nonhumans) should be made to stand in public...in cage...with photos and video showing what they did. I really truly want to thank humane society from the bottom of my heart, they are truly life savers. I currently volunteer at the humane society near me,also thanks to the people who are so nice and willing to adopt these beautiful animals. Unfortunately, I can't adopt because one I still have parents. 2. My parents are scared of animals.😂 but I can't wait to get the chance to work at an humane society and enjoy my life with animals.🐵🐰🐭🐈🐶💘 (btw if you're wondering how do you like animals if you parents are scared you don't have experience I have a small Maltese and getting 2 baby chinchillas😆)

I know first hand the feeling of love, anxiety, frustration, guilt and anger that comes along with knowing about and not being help an animal in need. The time came for me about 7 years ago, to rescue a lovely female brindle Pit Bull, whom is now my heart. The feeling of saving her life, for me, is unprecedented. Every day I see her eyes, I see the epitome of what it means for an animal to love another being. It's almost as if she smiles at me, with he big brown eyes, she looks almost like a seal pup. It's now going on 8 years of having her at my home and she is getting old, but the loving stare I get is still as strong as it was the night she leapt into my arms after I cut her heavy chain with bolt cutters from around her bare neck. Shivering and cold and starving and dehydrated and in need of real sustenance I took her home, gave her a bath and mended her wounds as well as I knew how and she got better every day. It took years for her to develop trust for man again, I loathed what her previous owners did to her, to the point where it was unhealthy for me, mentally. I had so much hatred in my heart and bones for people like them. I pray and hope every day that evil will cease, but I don't think it ever will. So, all of us good folks out there, just keep being good, and kind. Hopefully one day, things will change for the better.

can't train the savage outta a pit trained to fight. He could attack out of the blue and owner be like "he's a loving dog, don't know what got into him". Dogs don't have "capacity for forgiveness" like the people from these animal shelters want to promote. Dogs operate on "food and rewards" mentality
