I read an article once about an undercover investigation into a dog fighting ring. The cop said when he was taken thru a "yard" full of chained pitbulls, they would position themselves to where their tails would get touched as the guys walked past them. My cousin's boyfriend came clean once, and told us he used to participate in dog fighting in his past. He said one day, he looked out and saw this female pit bull (one of the fighters), and this dog came up and started trying to kiss him. This dog was going through hell on earth and still was giving love. He said it was like a switch flipped in his head - he suddenly realized that this wasn't okay, that these dogs were pure joy and love and that this wasn't aggression and fighting - it was merely torturing small, loving animals. He said he immediately grabbed her and took her home with him and never went back. He's had pit bulls ever since, and he's a major advocate for them and against dog fighting. He also managed to convince a lot of his old friends that dog fighting was bad, and managed to show them just how lovely pitties are. He is the only person that I can forgive for dog fighting, because he's truly changed, and does everything he can to make up for it.

So she was either a fighting dog or a bait dog so she was not trained the right way and yet she is still the most sweetest dog ever. I think sometimes digs are just sweet. They are just born this way and no matter what humans do to them, they do not have a nasty bone in their body.

Rescue is the way forward. So many bull terrier breeds in shelters here in the UK. There is no need to go to a breeder. My last 2 staffies were rescues and they were the most loving family pets.

Car Silk I couldn't agree more. My pitbull loves my kids and only my kids can keep up with her energy. She is 7 and still zooms around the back yard and acts like a puppy. Once they are all done playing, they lay in a pileion my living room and become a bunch of lazy butts lol. Everyone intertwined and snuggling together. 76% of death or serious injury dog attacks in the USA are Pittys. However about 90% of those Police reports clearly show the dogs are only defending their property/land.
