Question about loving kindness meditation. The book says (Bhante Vimalaramsi - Life Is Meditation ) that I need to sincerely experience the love of love and kindness in order to send it to others. With this there is an example only with a puppy. The question is, do I just need to remember all those good and good moments that I had in my life for this? For example, meeting with friends, thinking about momets with my girlfriend, about family, about positive situations with strangers, or something for which I am grateful to other people. Or should I just try to maintain that feeling no matter what by just smiling in my head and chest without memory things?

Use the memory to remember that feeling and keep it going. Just pick one memory and smile into that and then use that to radiate to yourself or a friend. Its just a way to bring up the feeling. You can't maintain a feeling with no object - it just disappears. Its like you are nudging it along. You bring it up and patiently sit with it and do nothing at all but smile. Then it isn't there anymore so you remember a memory again and take that feeling and radiate that to yourself and so on. It doesn't matter how strong it is, just that it is there. Use the 6Rs when your mind wanders away.

While I was remembering, I want to share this kindness with those people who brought it to me, for example, I remembered that I used to have a friend who shared with me and I really appreciate it, we haven’t communicated with him for a long time, but I want to give him this love, because the memory of him caused love, and not to another friend of mine who did not participate in this memory. Moreover, I have two best friends who are both equally important to me, if I start to remember the good things with one and give love to the other, does it seem to me like a kind of betrayal or does it just seem to me and is it still worth continuing? Maybe I don't understand something. It turns out I can’t evoke this good feeling towards my family or towards a girlfriend, even if their actions were wholesome and sincere and bringing love in my chest? Seems a little strange for me

@@davidjohnson8218 At the end of the practice, I generally wanted to share my love with everyone beeings and forgive everyone, but I don’t really like this story to single out one person, especially when I think it’s not right to do this.

@@FeelsGoood At the end of the sitting you can also share the metta with all beings. That is fine, but use most of the sitting now to work on your spiritual friend. What is happening is you are developing your technique with just one person at first. The metta is weak right now and you don't know the 6Rs very well. Then it will get stronger and as it does you can spread it to other beings but for now to make progress with this practice and get into jhanas it is best if you stay with the friend , same gender and alive. for now. Keep the feeling going by just bringing up a memory when it gets weaker and then just obsevere and smile into the feeling. Don't push, be patient and feel contentment to just sit and do nothing else. Enjoy the sitting - Don't try too hard. Trying too hard will make you tense.

Is it okay to wish for materialistic wellness (such as wealth etc) for yourself and your spiritual friend when doing Metta?

Metta is about feeling calmness and happiness by itself, without being attached to material things
