Megan, you might want to consider putting small shelves on the back wall of your pantry spanning each of the side shelves. It would give you a little more area in which to store food. It wouldn't take away your access to what's on the existing shelves and it wouldn't be that difficult to accomplish. I think you have a lot to be proud of for turning your life around and becoming the responsible, loving, productive woman you are now. Keep up the good work. You're doing great!

My mom did breakfast for dinner frequently. She told us it was a treat to have breakfast for dinner. Then as we aged, we realized it was because she could stretch the food much easier and farther. I've experienced different difficulties in my life and cannot begin to understand what you went through. A few things I’ve been doing that I find saves on wasting food is 1)shop online & not walk around the supermarket! I only get what I need! 2)meal plan & check my inventory for what is needed for the meals I plan on making. 3) go thru my freezer for meats for dinner ideas for my weekly meal plan so I use up what I already have:) Thanks Megan for being so raw & honest about ur struggles. I think it’s important for many to hear that perspective bc it’s foreign to them. 🙏🏻😂

What about using under the shelf baskets for extra storage? I store my bread loaves, bagels, and sub rolls in there. It’s the perfect size for that plus it never gets squashed 😆 It would also free up shelf space 👍🏼

Thank you for being raw and honest… I was a child of food insecurity and homelessness as well. I just watched fit frugal mom do an entire video about cooking and using expired foods, and it was so good and so like me cooking/using stuff even out of date (not dairy or meats improperly stored of course)

I totally understand not wanting to waste any food we struggled alot when we were first married we had a baby right off the bat so I learned to feed us with between 50 and 80 dollars every 2 weeks so I try to be very careful with my pantry stock but things do slip through have a blessed weekend sweet lady ❤🤟

Hey Megan! It turned out great! I’m watching while I have covid and it’s the second time I got it last time I got it was in 2021 of May and now second time. I’m almost done quarantining Sunday is my last day but today I deeper clean my room get all fresh air in my small bedroom as possible only have 1 window I remember you guys had limited windows too in your room so you can relate. Thanks for the motivation I almost wasn’t going too clean but I’m like nope get your bitt off your bed you’re capable of cleaning put Megan on your phone and clean with her and that’s what I did & I get to go back to work Monday so I want my bedroom all clean and when I come home from work on Monday it’s in Alan fresh slate and I can move on and get better. Want you to know that my family growing up was poor also, so I know that feeling of how you had anxiety of throwing out food I try and not waste any myself but we can only better ourselves and that wooden lazy Susan looks cool I’ve never seen one either. I hope this system functions for your guys pantry you did a great job for your family! 💜😊

Oh girl! I remember the days of bologna and cheese sandwiches. Going back to last week video. I was talking about my closet and how my husband has over taken the situation. Well…I’m still working in the closet,putting in a few more shelves and a shoe rack, but I had to share with you how many clothes hangers that got relieved from duty 73!!!lol Pantry looks good. Hopefully this will work out for you and the fam. My next thing to get straightened out are going to be my countertop appliances. If you ever get your diy itch for renovation: Looking at how the shelves are in there- from what’s shown it looks like you might be able to take one walls off, maybe trim the length, then put on the back wall so it creates a long L shape with the other side. Then you might be able to walk in with more space and even use the opposite wall for wall hanging of aprons etc.

The Walmart brand storage containers do work, they aren't made for grabbing by the lid top bc they will pop off and make a mess. If you would have had them in the front instead of having to grab over things you wouldn't have had a mess. Please give them a chance again in a different location possibly. I am truly not trying to critize you, I have those containers in my home and I love them and they work great....And just to let you know that when I was in a hurry I have grabbed them too quickly and the top did come off and I had macaroni all over the floor.....But that was my mistake for grabbing too close to the top. Loving you video and wishing you the best, it's looking great. From the sounds of your story you have turned things around for yourself, keep up the great work.

Really enjoyed this video. Here is a tip for you. Put a marshmallow or two in with your brown sugar and it won’t get hard and clumpy. I would love to know your whole backstory. I think that moving one side of shelves to the back creating an L shape would give you more space, you can then add a wall mounted can holder which has a very slim profile.

My pantry is always a mess. I try to organize it. But my husband puts things wherever he finds a spot. So I just let it be a mess. And keep it looking the best I can. My husband was looking through my spices and found some pepper that expired in September 2023. No one wants to through food away now days. Everything at the grocery is too expensive. There’s just me and my husband here. We have three small dogs and I feed and give treats to all the feral cats that came with our land. Right now I think there’s at least twelve. Four which are kittens. I need one of the wire can racks. I also need something that will keep brown sugar soft. Anything I have tried hasn’t worked,

Someone else suggested adding a marshmallow to the brown sugar to keep it soft 😊

I'm so sorry you had you go thru that. No judgement I grew up with very little food certain times of the month but my mom tried she became very frugal and creative eating from the pantry until the next month when we'd get government food supplies the next month. Those staples were very important

We do that sometimes just to try to get as much out of our pantry as possible, nothing wrong with being frugal ❤️
