I live in Orlando. I have lived here since I was a teenager. It's really just an affordability issue. In the southeastern region, income inequality is particularly high. People that work in the area can't afford to go to Disney unless they are willing to give up things the rest of the country would consider part of a normal life . Not everybody wants to live off ramen noodles just to go to Disney once a year.

Hands-down attendance is suffering at Disney because of the CRAP LOAD of money it costs to go, not to mention all the nickel and diming that Disney does with their Fast Pass alternatives and having to make reservations to get into the park of your choice. Honestly, if you're a local and you've been once or twice, it's too much of a hassle to put up with. Let the tourists feast on the carcass of a theme park, locals have had their fill

Also, another big mistake Disney made was getting rid of the complementary Magical Express from the Orlando International Airport to Disney World and back for those who have a Disney resort hotel room reservation and telling their guests to “Take an Uber or a Lyft”.

Disney was PACKED this weekend! It’s quiet Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then ramps up on Thursday through Sunday.

Walt Disney World has positioned itself as a luxury experience. It's essentially an elitist thing now. It’s not for everyone-much like how a Rolex and Porsche aren’t. Many feel that they’ve been priced out, and they’re not wrong; that seems to have been Disney’s intention. My only advice is to get use to it. Prices rarely come down once they’ve gone up, and as long as people are willing to pay those steep costs, they’ll stay that way. Business 101.

The German/Japanese car vs. American car analogy is very, very on point. One day that over indulgent fantasy wish granter reputation that the company is known for will get old and people will start asking the companies that want our dollars to first and foremost show responsibility toward people. This is something more companies could get a head start on, but unfortunately for us most are afflicted with a neck condition that prohibits them from seeing anything above the bottom line.

I don't think the community is something where disney truly cares. They've priced out the community. They don't care about bringing in the local K-12 kids because they won't be able to afford the expensive food and merch. They wanted the affluent travel families. Filling the parks with kids who barely scraped by on discount or free entries is only going to make the lines worse for those that paid top dollar and will be spending throughout the parks. Disney should care about their cast members and have a heavily subsidized living for them since they pay such low wages. Disney spending on livable, but basic, cast member quarters is much needed.

I was at Hollowood Studios a week ago and the Droid Depot where you assemble your plastic robots only had three stations busy with people building a robot. The place has always been packed. I went back two days ago and was amazed because the weather was quite nice but of the 14 stations at the droid depot only two were occupied and as you walked through the park there were people looking at merch but the cashiers were just standing there twitting their thumbs with nothing to do because nobody was buying anything. To be honest it reminded me of Disney during the Pandemic only maybe worse.

Sadly regular people cant afford to go to the parks anymore. It is a major investment to take your family. I completely agree that their community and educational interaction is lacking - yes there is still the college program but this is a mere opportunity now to get cheap labour. Cast members no longer have the pride they once had in 'the Disney difference' and 'the Disney look' nor do they have the level of training and corporate ethos that once existed.

Disney is losing because the things that made it nostalgic that made it special. They have a eliminated. And then they’ve hidden it all behind a giant pay wall meaning that you have to pay for everything. I’ve been the Disney parks around the world I grew up going to Disneyland in California And I’ve steadily watched parking prices go from $15 a day to 45 yet. They haven’t built any structures any new roadways nothing new. They haven’t even hired more staff parking will increase. As well as getting into the park. Disneyland one day ticket is $192. For one part by yourself, so the fact that I’m a local and I literally have to save up to go to a park. I used to go to on a whim is ridiculous. The year passes they got rid of. They’re not nearly as good now the reservation system is a complete fallacy, finally changing of classic rides altering the ideas of the original, Walt Disney imagers and Walt Disney himself. This is the issue that will continue to linger in with this leadership. Can evolve, but you can also keep one foot in the future 1 foot in the past which is what Walt Disney did so well this new ownership is all about greed. I heard Bob , Walt Disney imagers and Walt Disney himself. This is the issue that will continue to linger in with this leadership. Can evolve, but you can also keep one foot in the future 1 foot in the past which is what Walt Disney did so well with this new ownership is all about greed. I heard Bob Eiger referred to Disney as a tech company and it’s nothing like that. It’s a pioneer in the theme park business that’s what you should be doing. Well everything else is secondary. The the cruise ships, vacation, clubs, movie, theaters building neighborhoods, and getting into real estate is all secondary to the theme parks that’s what made you your money! But Disney has squatted so many opportunities. They lost the generation of people. And I feel that it’s only going to get worse.

Many more people are now realizing they can have a lot more fun without paying a King’s Ransom. I have had a lot more fun for a lot less money at the State Fair, The Texas Renaissance Festival, and camping out in my motorhome and cooking my own food outside on the Coleman stove or on an open campfire (such as hot dogs, chili, and hamburgers) at a State Park than I had at Disney World or Disneyland. Plus, I can bring the dog or cat along as well too on vacation. Also, Disney World got rid of the free Magical Express from Orlando International Airport to Disney World and back for resort guests who booked a hotel room on property and told them to “Take an Uber or Lyft”. Disney today is not the same Disney back when I was a kid and teenager back in the 1980s and 1990s. I would love to see a way overpriced Disney World where the only park guests are the ants and other insects and bugs or spiders on the ground, along with the birds and squirrels.

I know some fairly well off people who are turned off by the high prices, a one-day tix for Ooggie Boogie Bashi s $150, of course some people make it priority to attend these events, but most people generally won't attend. The theme parks are making money oodles of money for Disney Corp, and the management is putting that money into money losing businesses such as streaming Disney+ and movies.; true Disney is an entertainment company, but putting their resources into a money pit is not a wise use of company funds.

Live in CA. Disneyland in Anaheim is similar. It’s not a hi-end city either, population not well off. Like in FL, Disney doesn’t appear to do much locally & their main focus seems to be how to nickel & dime visitors. Our family used to be annual pass holders but gave up long ago due to skyrocketing prices & in all honesty found Universal Hollywood to be much more enjoyable. Universal Orlando was terrific as well & we go there rather than Disney, our kids prefer Universal parks, characters & movies over Disney. That along with Disney’s push towards ultra-left wing progressives & LGBT groups over families with small children will continue to result in a declining customer base. Even if the company were to do more for schools, I bet they’ll do it to push their agenda to which I say “no thanks”. It’s really sad how Disney has fallen since my now 17yo daughter has grown up- when she was young we bought every Disney Princess DVD, storybook & dresses. Now I actively try to avoid Disney & Star Wars and unless things change, won’t look back.

It's bigger than affordability, look at the root cause. Disney used to be the safe harbor for families. Something away from all the world's agenda-based garbage. When Disney decided to go woke and push an agenda ( that suits a minority of fans and rebukes the family ) people actually feel that. They stop watching, they stop going. Viewership is down for those productions and that costs Disney income they felt they were entitled to. About 10 years ago I was talking with a lifetime friend of mine who's been an animator for Disney, Pixar and other studios. He said Disney will spend tons on movies that fail like John Carter on Mars, Lone Ranger, etc. but then NEVER punish the creatives behind it. Instead of axing the writer/director they forgive them, give them another project, then take out the financial losses on the public ( raising prices ) and the cast members ( reduced treatment. ) People aren't doing the math on the root cause. Disney spends big on things they expect to succeed but which would predictably fail; agenda-based messages forced into what used to be a family-friendly safe harbor. People aren't as dumb as Disney thinks. They spend elsewhere. Disney never learns, they double-down and go harder no matter the losses, stocks, etc. Prices go up, and CMs are on the verge of a walkout, but none of these people seem to realize the root cause. Disney went anti-family or woke.

No doubt Disney has taken a hit with regard to public perception, but I think it really boils down to 3 things. The cost of visiting the parks and travel itself is very expensive now. Second, a lot of people splurged on visits post covid and are now recovering from the spending. Finally, despite what the media may say, the economy is killing the middle class. Grocery prices and housing are OUTRAGEOUS and are far out pacing the average American income compared to preCovid levels.

They want attendance to be low. It is by design. They are making sure the rich that can keep affording expensive tickets will have a nicer time in a less crowded park. Its more profitable to charge $1,000 per 1 person than 10 people $50 per ticket.
