Crate motor is 10K......... Plus the cam upgrade. Even if you blew up 5 of the junk yard motors you would still be saving money. Plus over 800 HP with mild boost..... you want more just turn up the boost :) Love the content Richard. Keep up the good work 👍

I was going to say basically the same thing other than for the price I’d put rods/pistons and port the iron heads and a lot more boost to laugh at the crate motor guy’s! but I’ll just have to stick with my 3.8 v6 as I couldn’t afford the other 2 cylinders

I have a strange fascination for a low budget N/A big block chevy build, Richard. Like a junkyard 454 block, with a cheap stroker crank, cheap forged rods and pistons, bang for the buck choice of aluminum heads milled way down for compression, a ton of cam, and run it on e85... Lol

Here in my area we have a yard that will sell ANY engine/wiring, pcm combo for 350 and if you get everything unhooked they will even pull it with a forklift and load it in your truck for you. ANY ls, big block, sbc sbf etc is 350 out the door fully dressed with wiring and pcm. You can have the trans along with it for 150 or 200 as well. Hell of a deal 🤝. Now I want a BBC in my s10 instead of ls...lol torque baby

I would choose the cheapest one. Wish I could afford to build something like this from new parts but junkyard is my only hope to have a fun street car/truck

I agree with your choice of the AFR 165s. Great head for a 550-600 hp street car: good efficiency, and excellent torque and nice HP potential. Best mix of airflow and air velocity.

For a period of time I wanted to find the medium duty version of the Vortec 454 that they used in Kodiaks that had LS coils and a 24X setup in the front. From what I remember those had forged pistons like the crate engine did as well. It'd be a hard choice between either of these engines N/A. I'd think I'd rather get the JY engine+heads for the money. The ZZ is $9500-10,500ish online and that's a lot buckos for something you're probably going to shove a cam in to violate the warranty right away. Car-Part seems to have them from $500-2500 and I'll say that $7K buys a lot of machine shop time and parts. Even the GM Crate engines can have problems, knew a guy with a ZZ502 Astro Van. He had to get his setup punched 30 due to piston slap. To their credit truthfully GM did end up paying for it to go .030 over. That said I don't quite know if the MEFI3 on it ever ran quite right, he said it was almost always rich.

@@hondatech5000 Two different worlds...I currently have a Procharger car and a Vs 7875 ls swapped mustang. The procharger car is on it's second set of spark plugs in YEARS...the turbo car tries to melt everything under the hood and constantly needs attention. Centri superchargers are the standard of dependability. I have my turbo kit up for sale now so I can slap a d1x on the mustang. Maybe I am getting old, but I am tired of piddling.

Hey man, I get mopars aren’t bringing in the views. I’m just a mopar guy living in a Chevy world but I would love to see a power adder mopar build. Yes I know you have the 440 motor home single turbo build but you also have like a million Chevy builds. 440 source rotating assembly trick flow heads maybe a shot of juice or turbo idk something a little different and a lot more power. Hell get ducich or friebuger to donate parts man, as I’m sure they would be super excited to see the build as well. I can’t be the only one waiting for a 499 turbo build ootb heads and let’er rip build

I really wanna go boost. Single turbo wanna keep ac. 6.0 ls with tsp 224 and 3000 circle d. Have no clue how to choose size. Looking for maybe 850 to 900 hp

I would love to see the gen 6 with a set of oval port afr heads with the factory efi and see how it manages to make power and then boost it then see what it does next.

I SHOWED THE DIFFERENCE BEWTEEN THE STOCK EFI AND CARB INTAKE. THE STOCK EFI INTAKE MAKES SLIGHTLY BETTER LOW SPEED, BUT LESS UP TOP. THAT WOULD COONTINUE WITH AFR HEADS AND BOOST

I need a 454 or 6.0ls for my dump. It came with a 350. But just dosnt have enough in the steep mountains to pull the truck. Or should I just turbo my current engine? It is a crate motor for my application from jasper. 30k ish on it. What would you do gear heads.

The crate will make more horsepower. I commented before I trolled the comments and viewed the video. Let’s see if I’m right. Ok ok. It was obvious. What I’d like to see if you swapped heads and then tested. That would’ve been a nice science equation.

On the junkyard engine, what was the piston to valve clearance? A guy assumes that cam is go with just a valve spring upgrade?

Wait so I can take a vortec and keep it carbureted in my 1974 K5 blazer? I need a replacement for the stock 350 in it now. I would love something at around 5-600hp. Any advice?

I have those AFR 265 oval port heads on my 427 60 over with a 30cc dome on the piston it's got a Howard 235x242 @50 with 618 lift hydraulic roller forgeď crank good rods I'm thinking about a torqstorm super charger my rings are gapped 0.24 çan you recommend a supercharger that you think will work better for close to the same price? Any help would be appreciated.

Richard I need help I have a 91 s10 . Th400 ford 8.8 rear it's it's 5.3 sloppy stage 2 cam . Lifters. Pushrods. Pac 1218 springs. rings gapped to 0.28 thousands. Long tube headers. holly duel plan intake . 750 quick fuel carb . Nx wet kit ...I need help with timing I can change it through the msd box with a computer it's 32 degree on motor and its pulling 4 degrees for a 100 shot ..di you think that is pretty safe or alittle high I run 93 pump gas
