For me this is easily my favorite instructional piece you've done. I absolutely loved the section on "getting the shots". When I'm on a day trip or doing an activity, I really really struggle with "when to get my Go Pro out", and start filming. So that when I get back to the computer I have more than just a random selection of incoherent garbage. Clips that don't make sense or connect to one another. I want to record days out and family activities so they look better than Ol' Uncle Arthur's home movies from the 80's. Your Mini Movies are really something to aspire too. I love your enthusiasm and imagination. Many thanks for this one. Cheers Jake. Mike

I especially like this video that shows a little of the Behind The Scenes in how some of your content was created and to get the most out of a short time at a location. Planning is the essence here as you said. I’m looking forward to getting to travel again soon and capture better travel videos/content that I am happy to share with family and friends, and that I know will engage them in our trip rather than put them to sleep 😴 😁👍

I don’t think the GoPro has any aperture settings so I was wondering how I can make films using the GoPro (not travel vlogs). Great tips! I also want to take it to another level. My travel vids are quite personal but I should make it more appealing. I tend to shoot everything in 1080p 120 fps simply because im a bit lazy I guess. Its an easy setting but im going to try and use 4K more.

Definitely try and shoot more 4K - if you're uploading to youtube it will also display your content much better as KZbin prefers 4K or 2.7K uploads

If you upload videos to KZbin at 1080p or 1440p, is there any reason much to record in super high resolution all the time like 4k or 5k? or Should I juststick to everything in like 2.7k and 60-120 FPS instead?

Jake - great stuff, Thank you! I struggle with "story" before I go on a trip to places I've never been. Simply don't know what the story is or will be...any advice for creative story planning ahead of time?
@JakeRichandAnnaChah4 жыл бұрын
Even when you’re going somewhere you’ve never been you can still set yourself a goal of getting a variety of shots - i normally have a shot list which lists: 5 high quality hyperlapse - 5 time lapse - 10 different POV shots - 10 different selfie stick shots - 10 establishing drone shots - you can have these goals before the trip and if you miss some of them, the video will just be shorter 🤷🏽♂️ (or use storyblocks or artgrid - stock footage websites - to fill in the shots you missed)

What are the mods that you use for your gopro? And do you also use a camera? I am planning to buy Sony A6000
@JakeRichandAnnaChah4 жыл бұрын
I often just use the GoPro without any mods or upgrades, just the hero9 as it comes out of the box - if you need accessories then I’d recommend extra batteries, a selfie stick, the max lens mod on hero 9, the el grande selfie stick & the bite mount - anything else is just extra gear that you’ll carry around and probably won’t use - less is more - focus on the storytelling 🤘🏽

@@JakeRichandAnnaChah Sony a7III is really expensive. Do you recommend getting that camera instead of a sonya6000?
@JakeRichandAnnaChah4 жыл бұрын
@@jimmoefoe1471 If you can afford it, I do recommend it. It's a much better camera body - a full frame camera vs the a6000 which is an APS-C crop sensor - big sensor on the a73 means better quality image, less noise, more pixels and overall I enjoy holding the a73 camera body in hand (it's a little bigger in hand and heavier) and shooting full frame opposed to crop (personal preference) for me is a professional choice. I began with the a6500 which I used for 4 years before upgrading. Something to think about
