This is by far the best and safest place you've been. Riding must be very hard after your back problems. You should be very proud. Funnily enough I love being on the lunge as it means I can just sit there and concentrate on my seat and not have to steer the horse. I can just let go.

Thank you, you’re absolutely right. And yes, I am so lucky to have found this place!

I so feel you on everything that happened on the Lunge line and being in your own head! My instructor has done some of this with me and this was a great reminder to ask her to do it again! You showed tremendous progress! Way to go!

I hope you're giving yourself plenty of pats on the back for this ride because everything you did in this video is HARD! I've been on both sides of the lunge line doing and teaching those same exercises and I think you're selling yourself short on what you accomplished. Your trot seat is looking way more fluid and natural and it won't be long before you figure out what works for you at the canter :)

He has such pretty and kind eyes and that flowy trot🤩 Cantering seems to be coming so much easier for you even though you say it makes you heart rate spike😂 Love those confidence building exercise!!! I wish my coach would make me do some I fear my riding needs it and it’s so beneficial for building trust with your horse. Your fear of letting go and loosing control is I think a fear we all have, you did so good pushing through it. I bet you were mentally exhausted after that ride.

I very much appreciate your empathy here; yes to all of these things! Maybe you could ask your coach for some exercises; I’m sure they have some up their sleeves. And yes, Taser is a literal unicorn and our mutual trust grows every day. I was pretty tired after that lesson, but also energized in my soul if that makes sense because I actually pushed through a fear and came out the other side! It gave me hope for my riding future. Thank you for the kind words and let me know if you do any confidence exercises!!!

@GPwithme Thank you for sharing your hardships and your journey, I can relate mostly to the anxiety and fear you are going through. I’m jealous of your calm Taser, my dragon just threw me off three times in my lesson yesterday😂 That feeling of being energized although tired totally makes sense! I am a bit intimidated in asking for it since my coach doesn’t normally do that and like you I’ve never done those exercises before, but maybe I will😊

@Lorke010 I’m sorry you got thrown. Definitely not confidence building. Better time than ever to ask your coach; I mean, you *are* having lessons to learn the things you’d like to learn, and this is one. Good luck!

Welcome to me, your clone. Same issue hahaha. Western saddle is a nice change imho. I love English but I find ridding western capably in a canter helps as you have a longer leg also. Similar thing but a little less intense on muscles I lack. 🤣🤣🤣 I never did pony club and one lady tried to trot me on a line like that and I was like oh hell no. But also the horse was not as chill as urs and I didn’t like him haha. I don’t see many teachers do that honestly tho they always seem surprised when we have not!

Ah, nice to know I’m not alone. I don’t think people realize how difficult riding is, because the better you are at it, the easier it looks. So much to think about!
