What is that extra note sound when you were testing the tracking at 7:45

Great stuff! I found the Octabvre MKIII being very sensitive for fret noise etc as soon as you start dialling up the tone as well as the octave (Tim switch even reinforcing the feeling). In dialled up tone / octave settings you have to be able to play very clean (not sure if the "higher" settings work better with other instruments). This pedal works best with a P-Bass with flat wounds on (compared J-Basses with round wounds). When comparing it to eg. Mu-Fx Octave Divider, the settings on this pedal are much more diverse in terms of sonic possibilities IMO.

Thanks! I agree about the sensitivity on the MKIII. I’m currently working on a review between the MKI and MKIII and I think that the MKI is less sensitive, which makes the tracking better in my opinion.

@@MarcAntoineForget I cross-checked this with Spencer and Tim L themselves with my audio samples and they did not find anything wrong with the pedal. Spencer just confirmed the sensitivity. With the Mu-Fx, for example, you can play much more "freely".

@@musicmanic1979 Hmm, I'll have to try the Mu-Fx then!

The problem often with octave pedals is that in order to get better tracking, you have to boost the signal in. That also means potentially boosting any extraneous noise you may be inadvertently giving the pedal. FWIW, a Jazz bass with the tone rolled off should track better and be less susceptible to noise... with both pickups rolled in you get a scooping effect that puts more emphasis on the fundamental.

Cool pedal, can’t beat the original mk2 but for the size is definitely a cool octave effect

It has more mids and cuts better to OC-2

How does this pedal compare to the Octabvre mini?
@MarcAntoineForget3 жыл бұрын
Never tried it. It's supposed to be an in-between of the MK1 with/without the Tim Mod.
@Jah3lohim3 жыл бұрын
The mini is a smaller version of the mkii w/ tim tuning but no sub footswitch. The mini sounds more like the Boss OC-2 & Mu-Tron Octave Divider, the mkiii doesn't quite have the same sound.

There are better octavers for half the price. Tim Lefebvre is one of my favorite bassists though, his signature fuzz pedal from Amptweaker is pretty groovy.
