By request, I've done this tutorial demonstrating how to create a low-key, art look. I'm doing it on an image of an Orangutan but it's important to note that this look works well with portraiture and lifestyle images as well. ** I am an affiliate for all of the companies listed EXCEPT Affinity Photo. This is amazing! There is so much more to photoshop and the creative process that I can't see without someone like you taking the time to show. Thank you.

From a good but simple photo to an excellent photo, a work of art. Congratulations for the great work and for the lessons left.

Thank you. Another great video which shows how much can be done. You explain all the steps so clearly and the little insets of tools are helpful too. Just wish I could remember everything.! Thanks.

Tx so much for this video. It brought me back to using PS and out of a editing rut. So exciting. I really like your easy to follow steps with rational, also in future vids could you segment them so they would be easier replay certain sections for clarity. tx again Anthony super job.

I learned a ton! I kinda like it without the light rays as if it was a window light. Thanks.

Nice tutorial, thank you. Per the "legacy gradients" -- for some reason the drop down displays the text white on white. You have to hover over the white area for the text to appear.

Great tutorial Anthony but it seems there should be a way to achieve the light rays without having to spend so much time on them. It's a pretty simple adjustment in A.P. Also, there is something visible behind the light rays that is a bit of a distraction. I do realize if you had more time, that would have been addressed as well. I really appreciate the tip you gave regarding the 50% grey pixel layer for Dodge and Burn. Will be using that. Thanks!

Hi, could this be done in on1 Raw?

Is there an advantage to using ctrl+sht+alt+e over selecting the layers desired and converting to smart object

Amazing tutorial‼️ yes I’m in the Adobe nest of apps but rarely use Ps; it’s not as intuitive as Lr. Ps I generally use for photomerge of some 14 or so images to end up with my panoramic. BUT this tutorial has got me hungry to dip more into Ps thank you very much

The subject selection would have been done much easily if you hit select subject on background layer & then selecting the adjustment layer mask & paint with a soft brush... Imo this is much easier way than using a hard brush.
