I've never heard of these mines & I'm from a village hear Sheffield. They look quite secluded though. Interesting video Tony, ❤much love 😊stay safe.

Thanks Carol! 🙋🏻‍♂️😄🙏🏼 those mines are at the derelict Storrs brick works ! They used to supply the clay for the making of fire bricks ! ❤️

Great video Antonio. Know this place well. Informative stuff. Just one point. This was a fire clay mine and not ganister. Most of the mines in this area were fireclay which sits lower down in the Geological structure than ganister that sits below the (Halifax) coal seam. If you head north over to Worrall and Wharncliffe you find the ganister mines. Stay safe!

Hi I had a job as a student at Dysons refractory brick factory at stannington Sheffield. We used the empty the kilns on site of the various refractory bricks, hot work. My main job was to measure the bricks as they used to shrink on the kiln. The bricks that met the specification were dispatched to the steel works the ones that were to small went to the pug mill. Maybe many below quality brick went into supporting the the roofs in the adits. I understand that Dysons had their own mine on site and one further up the hill but I didn't see them. Regards Dave

Hi Antonio, as I was saying on one of Curtis's video's, exploring those sorts of places and setting your monitors 16.5 is highly dangerous because you are still in that bad air until you reach good air again. I just don't think exploring at 16.5 is worth it just for a KZbin video and you have to wonder how long you are actually exploring at 16.6 or slightly above just before the alarm goes off. Thank you for showing however that it is just suicidal to enter these places without a monitor. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

Thanks Sue !, Yes you are right those places should be taken care and not entered without a Monitor !, yes you are right Sue , prolonged exposure to levels below normal (even above 16.5 can lead to severe symptoms complications and it’s a risky ! Antonio x

Sue you are right but we have fine tuned plan which may have not been explained. that plan is we push Antonio down the rabbit hole 1st and see if he still ok, before we push on down. works a treat

on a more serious note we had good air till the 1st collapse and the 2nd collapse was just next to that were we tried to enter . despite the low setting the air was monitored regularly. As long term depleting air can be serious as mentioned

I noticed you have a compass at hand...good idea for orientation there, does it work reliably enough in those environments especially with both the industrial metalwork and minerals around you? Pongy smell....isn't that likely to be sulphur/hydrogen sulphide? Nasty stuff. Is your meter a 4 gas one, CO, O, H2S and the LEL (lower explosive limit; when you are entering the danger level from 0 to lower limit) for combustible gasses?
@UndergroundExplorerUK
@UndergroundExplorerUK 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roger ! 🙋🏻‍♂️👋🏼, I have to say in my experience a compass can be affected by the metal work of a mine !, in the past having surveyed a mine with many metal supporting rings we had discrepancies of readings due to such places creating its own magnetic field ! , my Altair Meter is a 4gas ! And as we measured low O2 and no increase in Combustible gases ,H2S and CO then must be replaced by CO2?!!… I have been adviced to get a 5gas detector which also reads CO2 as it can be a harmful gas !
