I had a 93 2500 2wd CTD that I bought new. It was an awesome rig. The only down side was that unless the truck was working hard, it didn't make much heat. I nearly froze to death on the freeway in sub zero temps even wearing a snow suit. A "Winter Front" for the grill solved that problem. You made my Saturday night - thanks for another great vid!

In the narrow side compartment(s) you can hang jumper cables, extension cords, welding leads (if so equipped, you can modify the alternator to stick weld). The 3.54 gear is much better suited to the 5.9 Cummins torque range with stock tires than those models with the 4.10s on the street. You can change the drive/driven gears in the transmission to correct the speedometer, but mostly you need to know when you are driving 65 mph. You can set the needle to register 65 mph correctly just by moving the needle, that is all you should need.
@ScottDLR11 ай бұрын
IIRC, the 4.10's topped out in first gens at 74 mph against the governor.

The rusted plate steel wouldn’t bother me, except that eventually when you lean against it while accessing the bed, you’ll end up wearing rust on your clothes. If the other side wasn’t in a mismatching primer, I’d suggest some sort of clear coat to seal it, rat-rod style.

Great video. I, like others, agree about the side compartment being used for your ratchet strap collection. I believe that in there, they would probably become even more fun to pull out the whole giant tangled Medusa's head of ratchet straps and ratchets that are inextricably wound into a filthy, rusty nightmare. I await that video with bated breath! Oh! And by the way! Whatever you do, don't paint it. At least not in any good looking way. Maybe if you found some free paint down at the recycle center, but otherwise, paint is just added weight that only slows you down. Keepin it simple over here.

James, l own a 1977 Dodge Power Wagon Sno-Fiter or Snow Commander don't know for sure, it was repainted by an unscrupulous body guy. It's not all original so some things I don't know are authentic. People say it's 3/4 ton w/ 1 ton sispension. It is lifted 6" & has clearance lights on the cab all factory I'm told. The brakes & steering parts are huge and $$$. It's got Dana 60's F&R w/ 4.56 gears & 16.5" wheels. It has full time 4 wheel drive, a 400 V8 & 8' Meyer Snow plow all hydraulic. When I had brakes serviced they left the rear bearings dry telling me they'd get hypoid oil in them when l drove it. After a week or so l heard squeeking when l drove by a curb so l opened them up and they were still dry. I packed them w/ wheelbearimg grease myself. I don't drive it over 60 much & it gets 13mpg best.

If rust on fender sandpaper or wire brush it shine then pentriotion fluid all up and thin layer grease protection from rusted up ! James, 25 years ago, I drove for a van service. We had 1-ton Dodge 15-passenger "church vans", from about '84-91. They had 360 engines and Dana 60s with 3.54s as I recall. Single rear wheel. We learned that 1st Gen Cummins trucks like yours, in 3/4 ton version, had Dana 60s with 3.08 gears, because the 727 trans had no OD! The boss swapped in 3.08s, and whatta difference! The 360s no longer screamed at 3000+ rpm on I-5! Is yours a Dana 60 or 70?
