This is awesome. I’m a recreational triathlete. In 2018 I had a heart attack after a triathlon. Found keto then and I have spoke at a Dr Westman conference. Now carnivore and all of this rings true for me. Still doing all the same activities 69 YO. My times have stayed fairly steady.

Former pro athlete. 67 many broken bones an injuries.... Just got turned onto Carnivore bout year ago... mainly do kind of animalish.. I do milk, eggs, also. Prior lived on steak, beer, popcorn, potatoe chips, vegatable Garden.. So far with no beer or carbs less sugar my wieght is now college wieght. Far as recovery, excersice, etc will I have hell staying fat adapted or in ketos.. cheat now an then, doesnt take me much.. So will see what happens.. No beer n carbs which i lived on is huge improvement , so whatever happens still winning!

Thank you! @Low Carb Down Under and @Anthony Chaffee MD At 53, I am celebrating my 2nd Carniversary right now. In mid-November 2022, I was in a dark place with insanely high pain/inflammation and several other chronic diseases and afflictions. I am blessed and truly grateful for discovering Carnivore, which has been immensely healing. Dr. Chaffee was an early influence (and still is) on my Carnivore journey. ALL of my chronic illnesses and afflictions have either been ELIMINATED or almost completely resolved. I am healthier and more fit than I have ever been, including when I was a NCAA D-1 athlete. 4 weeks ago today, I essentially did a half-marathon with a commercial walk-behind mower that weighs 100 lbs more than me, mulching leaves for 5 hours straight, with no breaks. This was essentially fasted, as I only had two cups of coffee earlier in the day (with heavy cream only). A 2 lb steak and 6 pasture-raised eggs the night before powered me for 28,000+ steps, which displayed as 13.28 miles on my step tracker. I could NEVER have done this two years ago! I've forwarded this to my son with a note to watch from the 45:20 mark to see the section about the diver, because my son also suffers from IBS. Thank you so much for posting this lecture! I've already sent it to two others, because I know that it will help them in their Carnivore journeys.

Dr Chaffee, been watching your videos and am grateful for all the time you spend making this content. I started Carnivore 3 weeks ago. I have psoriasis quite severe and have been hoping it would clear my skin and reduce inflammation . I seem to be more inflamed for some reason and wanted to know if you might know why. I lift weights every week but haven’t been doing cardio . Thanks

Absolutely! As a 2-year Carnivore myself, my skin has improved immensely and I'm much more sun/heat tolerant. It's very important to get enough sunlight on your skin and into your eyes for Vitamin D and Circadian Rythmn. As long as you eliminate eating toxic industrial machine lubricants (vegetable-seed oils), the sun will be helpful to your skin (with reasonable doses), and not detrimental.

I went low carb (LCHF) around six years ago at the age of 51, looking for a better Ironman/70.3 fuelling solution and have never looked back. I'm now ketovore/carnivore and run ultramarathons as well (six 100km ultras so far), without the need to eat during races. Just electrolytes and water. A complete game changer and that's without mentioning all the established everyday health benefits of eliminating carbs and running on ketones.

That's amazing! What do you eat before the race? I'm 54 and have been doing 70.3 for the past 10 years with conventional diet/carbs. I just started keto carnivore and am a bit nervous about how to fuel for the 70.3 coming up in June. I suppose I should simulate a 6-hour race with just electrolytes and water.

I went carnivore in January 2023 and I ride a bicycle every day the day before Christmas i road to my sons home he lives by car 50 minutes away, on a bicycle 2 hours after I got home had a a bit of saddle sore from hitting a pothole but I still had plenty of energy afterwards, just have to drink plenty of water wich I add a pinch of pink Himalayas salt to

At age 62 , the first thing when I started the carnivore diet was that I started to think about going back to running . I can't afford to injure myself, but now , after a year and a half on the regimen , I am going to start running this spring . The more I refine the management of the diet ( I ate " normally " for 60 years , it is taking a while to get good at eating this way ) the more energy runs through my system . The only time I ate carnivore in my youth was during pregnancy , when my body would not tolerate anything but steak . I thought it was like a disease , or illness . Now I know that my body was enforcing the carnivore keto burn , so I could grow my babies perfectly . No doctor explained anything to me at ll , or helped me understand . I feel so good now I literally feel like I am living in a new life . Not sure how to explain that . Saw a woman on KZbin lifting a huge weight at age 80 . I thought " That is gonna be me ! " I am making plans for the future , and feel so alive . Thank you Dr Chaffee for teaching us all about this way of eating . God Bless You and God Bless Your Family .

Great presentation Dr Anthony Chaffe. Timothy Noakes found to my knowledge only 10g/hr of carbs (glucose) was needed for over 2hrs running to full potential. For example a 3hr Marathoner only taking in half a 22-25g gel each 14km will see no unstable drop in muscle glycogen (glycogen depletion). So instead of say 5 to 8 gels for a best effort marathon for a fat adapted athlete only needs 5grams per 7km @4:15/km race pace. Very cool. Im actually currently 5mths fat adapted and 6wks back training (only very modest run volume). Currently 44km this wk. Ran this morn a 1:55 half marathon training run/sub maximal... only 1shot coffee and 2 spoons (30ml) of heavy cream this morn (1g carbs haha). Last night was half kg of wild caught salmon. The other runners were taking gels & juice. I sipped a bit of water at 13km. Fat adaption is legit. Doing more training is the main key building a faster pace @73-80% of true max heartrate or 80-89% of LT2 will boost aerobic enzymes in "metabolic zone 2" and oxidise fatty acids in an alkalise state vs a carb based runner slamming a gel every 5km in training is limiting their metabolic health or "fat max". Cheers from qld aus 😊🎉. Im also 6ft 3 & currently 89kg so quite heavy for a distance runner.

Well presented information / data -- particularly point #2 -- which must be reinforced -- the carnivore diet works on two levels 1) bioavailable nutrients, in the ratio humans require AND 2) no 'anti nutrients' which get in the way of our absorption of 1). ❤❤

@@MrSojek true, however in my view (and that's all it is, my view), the nuance will be in the volume and type of animal products consumed by the individual. Someone who is including a variety of fish species, dairy (from cows, goats, sheep), pork, chicken as well as 'beef bacon butter and eggs' will be in a very good position nutritionally.

Dr Chaffee nailed it again 👏. Ketosis is absolutely best for health, longevity and athletic performance. I am All Ireland Open Weight Judo Champion 2024 in my age category. How old? I’m age 66 with metabolic age of mid 30’s and lean athletic muscle with vastly reduced joint pain. No medication or supplements. Carnivore lifestyle for over two years. Anyone on medication should consult a keto specialist first. Not because of the diet itself but because you could overdose as you become healthier.

Thats great. I am 70 today. I went keto about 6 years ago and lost 5 stone in 4 months, started CrossFit and came 3rd in the Republic after only 7 weeks training, as a Male 60+ marster at age 64. That was the CrossFit Open 2019. I then came 2nd in 2020 at 65 year old. Come covid and the gyms shut down, I got my own gym equiptment and compete against myself. I have done 300 sit ups in one set, 250 body squats, 12 chest to bar pull pullups, 30 deadlifts at 90k, 5 at 125.1, 67 push ups, 30 bar curls at 35k, 5 back squats at 107.5k, 30 at 90k, at 69 years of age, no previous gym experiance. Now full carnivour, zero carbs, 18:6 diet, no meds, all good health markers from previous obesse diabetic.

@@murraypooley9199 amazing how strong we can get on carnivore I build muscle doing not much of anything. The other day I was feeling strong and I wanted to see the max amount of pushups I could do. I ended up doing 63 in 1 set, and I might do them once or twice a month without counting. pretty crazy.

Go for it. I’d been keto and low card for about 7 years when I changed to carnivore. The last 13 months have been revolutionary. I feel better and better and I was already fit and healthy to start with. It’s awesome!

I went low carb about a year.5 ago trying to combat different health issues-mostly PEM/fatigue... It helped a bit... This summer, I finally gave the Carnivore a go and that was it ! Literally fixed my issues and almost instantly... I'm going on 43, so I'm guessing I was probably dealing with diabetes issues (don't like hospitals if unless I've broken a bone, been shot or stabbed... So never diagnosed) because I felt little better when I went low carb, but then felt amazing when I was virtually no carb as a carnivore (still get negligible amount of carbs from dairy).... Anyway, highly recommend give it a go... Just remember to choose the fatty cuts of meat. And NO, don't consume the rendered down fat, but yes eat the fat on the meat.... According to my Cronometer App, I typically land between 60-80% calories from fat based on my daily entries

Oh, also this the first year in my almost 43 years I didn't get sick... Never been va 'cks' d, flu or otherwise ....I work in a factory surrounded by people who this summer were calling out ,or showing up sick because they had no more sick time lol ( that one C word was circulating)... And this winter, again lots people getting sick around me, but not me! .... Been eating lots of natural high zinc sources ... Maybe something...

I was low carb after finding out I was T2D, but it didn't move the needle enough. Going carnivore washed all my ailments away, some I didn't even know I had. Carnivore is the way for your body to repair anything, that needs fixing. Even going from 90% to 100% carnivore is a massive difference. Eat meat fish & eggs salt to taste rinse repeat. Commit to it for30-60 days and see what happens. I commited to a 30 day trial 5 years ago, and I will never go back in the matrix now.

So many of the NBA players are trying to be vegetarians. There have been an exceptional number of them having very bad injuries lately. These athletes are not healing their bodies on their vegetarian diet. If you try to ask if there is a link between these things, you will be banned from discussion. This information needs to get to the athletes who need it. Too bad the commonly held idea is wrong. It will probably take generations for the truth to be accepted. Good lecture, Dr. Chaffee.

Dr Chaffee, what blows me away the most about this presentation is the statement that after 12 weeks of ketosis, we have 3-4 times as many mitochondria. This means that when we deviate from our natural diet, it cuts our mitochondria count by two thirds. And we wonder why the human race has been insane for all of written history. Could you provide links to those studies?

It's everywhere, but some of the top sports medicine doctors in the world are in Australia and entire professional teams and national teams on this, so that is a huge factor.

Based on my travels to America, I think we Aussies tend to do more of our own cooking and enjoy a range of cuisines. We are closer to the raw ingredients, and our raw ingredients are relatively more organic. I observed a lot of American food seemed to be fast food/chains, and honestly most of it was almost inedible, as it was so sugar laden. Perhaps we are closer to low sugar/lard carb so it’s less of a leap to a full on keto/carnivore diet.

Watching other previous videos Dr Chaffee uses the Inuit people as example of that humans have been eating for a couple millions of years and that humans only started growing food about 10.000 years ago. That said near the end of this video he mentions adapting period when changing over to carnivore diet. That said before I respond further to the adapting period topic I want to say I totally respect Dr Chaffee and his perspectives based on the research he has done and those who choose to go with a carnivore diet as well. When I was diagnosed with both Kidney and colon cancer a year ago I was looking at different research studies and youtube videos about diets that might prevent cancers and possibly reverse cancer and was surprised to see how similar many posts were between those that were on vegan and or mediterranean diet and those on keto and or carnivore and how each of those diets helped people feel healthier. I thought the common denominator must of been the elimination of processed foods high in added sugar, sodium and cooked at high heat in rancid vegetable oils. I now believe it is that and the polyphenols that we get either from fruits, vegetables and herbs or from pasture grass fed meat and poultry or both for those who choose to go omnivore. I also believe gmo corn fed animals and plants sprayed with pesticides aka roundup and DDT until it was banned after vietnam war in early 1970's and replaced by roundup without any real tests to prove its safety, are part of the reason why I likely came down with both cancers as I ate both plants and meat for decades until I went strictly all organic plant based after the diagnosis a year ago which may have prevented the tumors from spreading and I will continue to eat only organic for rest of my life as I now believe the God of nature intended. So with that said my conclusions vary a bit from Dr Chaffee and other doctors and methods used to date fossils for the long time period and short term adapting period topics. I dont believe anyone knows for sure how long ago Inuits lived in the extremely cold climate where hunting animals and fishing was much more essential for survival vs tropical areas where fruits and vegetables grew wild in abundance and humans surely adapted to that kind of diet and then hunter gatherers who were eating both plants and animals depending on climate conditions. According to Google AI search results The Inuit people arrived in Canada around 1200 CE, when groups from northern Alaska migrated into the Eastern North American Arctic. Within a century, they had spread across the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Greenland. By the 15th century, they lived throughout the Eastern Arctic. The Inuit are the descendants of the Thule people, who split from the Aleut group around 4,000 years ago. The Thule people's ancestors are believed to have originated in eastern Siberia and arrived in the Bering Sea area around 10,000 years ago. Also Ötzi the Iceman is the oldest known natural human mummy in Europe and is considered one of the best preserved mummies in the world: was dated to have lived only 5300 years ago. Also Google AI results show Yes, scientists have found evidence of palm trees in both the Arctic and Antarctica, but the conditions that allowed them to grow there are unlikely to occur again: A study published in Nature Geoscience found evidence of ancient palm pollen in the Arctic, along with pollen from other trees. The study's authors concluded that the coldest month mean temperatures in the Arctic were at least 46.4°F. With those results and others found in Nature article about oldest human fossils using keyword search What is the oldest human fossil found on Earth? The oldest ever remains of what appear to be anatomically modern humans were found in Morocco, and are believed to be about 360,000 years old - but it is not a certainty that they actually belong to humans rather than a closely related species.Jan 12, 2022 Dr. Chaffee no doubt likely read different articles with different estimates on fossil dating going back millions of years and these topics have been debated for a long time between young earth creationist who believe God created life on earth about 6000 years ago per bible account / chronology and those who believe the big bang happened about 13.7 billion years ago with earth forming about 4.6 billion ago and life appeared about 3.8 billions years ago and humans evolved from apes. According to evolutionary theory, humans diverged from apes, specifically chimpanzees, around 6 to 8 million years ago. I don't claim to know which events actually took place as I was not there to witness it but there are doubts I have about the theory of evolution and big bang and age of dinosaurs and all species as how could so many babies of all species survive without parents to protect them and feed them. The old debate which came 1st the chicken or egg ? To me the chicken makes more sense which leads me to lean toward a creation event took place at some point and time.... to be continued !

The plants we have today do not remotely resemble what we've genetically and selectively bread them into being. Go out it the woods and find some edible plants, even in the rainforest, you will die pretty fast, relying on fruit that's available for 1 or 2 weeks out of the year. But guess what you can thrive on all year long if you've honed your skills to hunt, animals.

My power and endurance has significantly improved on carnivore, I was keto before that and relatively low carb before that across a 3 year timespan, of which now more than a year carnivore

i just so agree with dr chaffee bout plants…i just cant stand them..just a bite into raw cassava when i was young made me detest them..i dint even chew it just bit into it .The pricking and chocking sensation in my throat..god i can never forget it…

Tried Keto when I retired . Felt great on this diet, lots of cycling without carbs , 100 mile plus rides no problem. But I lost 20%-25% of my vo2 max power. I now carb cycle ,when I plan high intensity rides I use carbs. Zone 2 rides are done fasted or with 30 g of protein before. Vo2 Max on keto- 42 Vo2 Max on carb cycling- 49 Nobody is winning the Tour De France on keto ..........yet! I'm 62 Just my experience, not judging.

So actually Chris froome who is a multi-time winner of the tour de France does Quito. There are many more like him as well on the tour de France and other elite level cyclists. Do you bolech study in 2016 actually showed that one ketogenic you are still burning fat at over 90% VO2 max. All the studies showed that the ketogenic athletes, when properly fat adapted, statistically outperformed the carbohydrate athletes, especially on the endurance side of things but also sprinting and high intensity workloads. You do need to be properly fat adapted though, the longer the better. However give yourself at least 6 weeks, And after that you'll start feeling better and better on the long rides. I've interviewed two of the level cyclists who do ketogenic carnivore and they are winning 200km+ racist completely fasted. Take a look at the lecture, I could be surprised at what you see.

I am a 60 year old long distance thru-hiker. I typically hike 8 to 10 hours per day covering 12 to 15 miles over rugged, steep, mountainous terrain while wearing a 35 lb backpack. I just completed a hike of the Appalachian trail from Georgia to Maine (2,200 miles). My experience and data would serve to fully corroborate what Dr Chaffee is saying when extended into the metabolic regime of a long distance thru-hiker over a period of 4 to 6 months on-trail. I am now 5 years keto / one meal a day (OMAD) and 2 years carnivore / OMAD. I hike carnivore and OMAD with no snacks on-trail the same as I do in my off-trail life. I hike in a fasted-state and eat one meal after I am done hiking for the day. All upside, no downside (apart from re-supply logistics) to hiking carnivore and OMAD. I prepared 75 lbs of homemade pemmican (50% beef tallow, 50% dehydrated powdered beef) prior to getting on-trail. I heat/melt the pemmican in my pot with some water and add various combinations of dry seasonings for taste and variety. In terms of re-supply logistics, I receive periodic mail drops from home as there is little to no keto/carnivore food to be found on-trail. For purposes of n=1 science, I wore a Freestyle Libre2 continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and carried my Ketomojo meter to monitor glucose and ketone levels by finger-stick at various times of the day. Glucose Ketone Index (GKI) is well below 2.0 while hiking. My record low GKI is 0.76 (77 mg/dL glucose and 5.6 mmol/L ketones). I see no discernible rise in glucose after eating. Morning glucose average is 94 mg/dL and slowly rises through the morning while hiking until peaking (110 mg/dL) in the early afternoon then slowing falling by late afternoon to the high 70s. Overnight glucose falls to the low to mid 60s (sometimes the high 50s) while sleeping. I also wore a Fitbit charge 6 fitness monitor to monitor fitness and sleep quality. I had comprehensive laboratory blood testing done including a NMR lipoprofile after 90 days on trail. The overall MNR lipoprofile results indicate low risk of CVD and high insulin sensitivity with several individual parameters pegged off-scale to the green (low CVD risk and high insulin sensitivity). Fasting insulin is 2.6 uIU/mL and c-Peptide is 1.5 ng/mL. Total testosterone is 700 ng/dL.

I love that stuff! Last week I boxed 1,5 hours, that 1 hour Studio muscleworkout . I m 57 and now I feel realy 15 years younger, after 3 years Keto/than carnivor. And befor starting tjat, was more ill than good...thanks for all those informations, with that I lost my fear ro start that new diet!!!

If you want to build muscle and get ripped and never be sore, carnivore is the way. If you want to be unnaturally big, do steroids and still do carnivore for better recovery and muscle building.

I need to switch from a mostly ketogenic diet (I eat quit a bit of nuts) to a full carnivore eating style. I have been able to do quit a few 80 to 100 mile bike rides without eating anything but i would like more finishing energy.

Great presentation and the HUGE take home is that MOST wild animals are in a ketogenic state ! we are carnivores ! we SHOULD be in ketosis all the time ... its crazy how so many people argue the 'fad diet' argument to those of us who know that carnivore is the way forward !

Puka Nacua is an animal- his athleticism and focus is outstanding. It's obvious there's something unique about him, but I had no idea it was carnivore driven. He's also an excellent example that DNA needn't be an excuse to remain in a obesogenic state. 'Puka' means fat/chubby. He's anything but.

Professional athletes will do what it takes to win because wining is what generates money. If the ketogenic diet could be used as an advantage over other professional athletes it would be used, but carbohydrates still provide the edge. Professional athletes have been using exogenous ketones for some time because any marginal gains count, but carbohydrates still provide the win and the money.

28:28 they can loose control in some instances, BUT it is as intended, proving your point. The bear for instance can loose itself in a trance eating blueberries. I believe this is how carbs are intended to work on animals relying on fattening up before winter in northern parts. When they find carbs in nature it is important to eat it all, so that is exactly what carbs tell the brain... eat it all! But that would be a strategic beneficial fattening and the fat will be used. So it may not be junk in nature, but it does become junk in humans living with constant resources available. Eating plants all year round is like fattening up for winter without ever having a winter.

Took me a good 9 months to be able to start training again but I was extremely sick. i couldn't do one pull up without getting dizzy before starting carnivore. Now I have no issue but I've been carnivore for 1.5 years now. I heard the metabolism can take up to 2 years to fully heal depending on how damaged you are. Be patient! It's worth it!

🦁I can attest to this being very powerful but I’m doing something different to perhaps anyone. I did it for 50days originally and sadly stopped but do it at work 2/1off(1yr)- now 8/6 7/7(6months)with a couple of 3week stints. Muscle growth is easy(put on 2-3kg and seem to be slowly still losing fat🤷‍♂️ I’m addicted to doing this while it-at work as I have sorted the adapting to ketosis side effects largely-and put up with so days I obviously eat(crave) too much fat. I would not recommend doing it the way I do it and am currently 6days 🦁 and it’s carnivore month nearly so a red hot go at doing way more than 50days. I want to not ever stop. Plants are puss

A "day off" meaning 50-500g of carbs???? Nope, it will take you 3-4 days to return to ketosis and destroy the whole point of a ketogenic diet. Some people cycle in a controlled way, but a weekly free-for-all will not work.

Blood pressure tends to normalize. Try doing 90 days keto/carnivore and if you then still wish for a day off try it. My guess is you won't want to repeat the experience. 🙂

Doc, Please learn that carnivore diets are not always ketogenic. Everyone reacts differently to food. One diet can cause person A to be in ketosis and the same diet may not put person B in ketosis. Keto diets are not defined by the food, but by the ketones that are produced! It is extremely dumb to label a diet as ketogenic based on the food that is eaten. The word keto comes from ketones, ketosis, ketogenesis, and ketogenic. It does not come from the word low-carb or zero carb.

Anecdotally, I have done strict carnivore a few months at a time. Each time, no matter how much I ate, my power always goes down. I’ll slim down for sure, but maintaining power hasn’t worked for me.

Good talk and I respect Dr Chaffee but he’s a little anti-plant for me. Case in point; on his own podcast, he mentioned that he literally felt like committing suicide after eating Thanksgiving dinner at his parents house when the turkey had garnish on it. That’s a little too culty for me……

This reference to "ketosis" or "ketogenic state" is so imprecise sorry. What thats exactly mean? To favour ketones and fat as a primary source of energy? So quotient Glucose/ketones < 1 (both in mmol/l)? As you know, we can eat 0 exogenous carbohydrates and still having a peak of glucose after eating, or having quotient Glucose/ketones > 1 between meals, if we aren't in a depth fasted state, because of gluconeogenesis. In my opinion, it is needed to measure things and talk with more property.

Name one that became a champion on a strictly vegan diet. Most were omnivores and became vegans after becoming successful. Very few remain vegans long term, once they realize their performance becomes compromised eating as a vegan.
