Marvin ran JCPenny down the drain and then left them to do the same again. Look up his record, he's a curse on a company
@TheBlindingwhite4 жыл бұрын
Funny you say that. I used to work for Eckerd's that, at the time, was owned by JC Penney. The then CEO of JC Penney Allen Questrom had to write an open letter justifying hiring J. Wayne Harris since he just ran another company into the ground -Grand Union. Everyone had to read and sign the letter they agreed the hiring was just. I signed it with a fake name since I did not agree. J. Wayne Harris would go around his buyers, make "deals" himself (probably pocketing some money along the way) and burden Eckerd's with lots of slow moving merchandise. Seems that many companies have a history of being run by buffoons and recycling them to boot.

Hey I was a Lowe's employee at the roeland park ks store. I was a delivery driver. This last summer I was the last driver there because everyone quit so I had a lot of 12+ hour days 6 days a week in 100 degree heat. One day I did 16 hours. I ended up reporting another driver for sexually harassing (groping) his/my female boss on company time in the back. 4 days later i got retaliated against and fired. The driver never got so much as a reprimand despite 3 other reputable employees witnessing this behavior. Lowe's also refused to pay my quarterly bonus to me costing me $400. Then Lowe's BANNED me from all stores permanently because the state department of labor said Lowe's had no reason to fire me and granted me unemployment. I stopped going to Home Depot 15 years ago because Lowe’s was always more helpful and friendly. I absolutely hated HD and swore I would never shop there again. That is until about 2016-2017, when Lowe’s became an absolutely miserable experience every time I walked in the door. Now I only choose to go to Lowe’s to look for clearance items and get in and out as fast as possible. The employees at Lowe’s are no longer friendly and knowledgeable, they are bitter and inexperienced.

We are all bitter now because of what Marvin is doing. Literally eliminating whole sections of the store and cutting hours so much that us employees have no time to get our minor tasks done, let alone help customers. We are so short staffed is not even funny. I was literally the only employee in lumber until 4 O'clock today. I can't drive a forklift without someone spotting for me, so I couldn't load customers or drop product down for customers. Cand get a manager to help because they're all tied up just trying to manage the shitshow that Marvin has given them. I had one ASM that was running appliances, plumbing paint, and helping at the registers all day today. He was calling for help but we are so short staffed that there's nothing any of us can do. Marvin is dragging this place into the ground. I use to love working at lowes

God grant me the patience to get out of bed ... the courage not to either throw back attitude that is given to me by management that cares about budget and upt and get it done with 2 staff and to also hold back from giving attitude back that the customer gives me cause everything is my fault we dont have an item the wisdom to realize that I am just another verbal punching bag to the public and keep calm and not to commit a murder and the faith that one day you'll burn the building to the ground into nothing but a pile of ashes

Thanks for posting these I will never step foot in a Lowe’s ever again! It’s crazy that they are so transparent about their arrogance and selfish mode of operation. How do selfish guys like Marvin ever get to become CEO. Such Greed on the backs on hard working folk and so out of touch with the rest of us. The shame is if he gets fired he’ll walk with millions in severance and stock 🤮

The CEO was the JCPenney CEO until June of 2018. He started doing the same thing to JCPenney as he is doing to Lowe's. During his time at JCPenney the stock dropped down about half the value it was when he started there. He was also in charge of the United States home depot stores. But if you ask him he will tell you he was the CEO. He was not the CEO he worked under the CEO. He has been heard telling people that he wants to make Lowe's just like home depot. But people have noticed that the changes he is making is not for the better. He has actually done things in the reverse. It said that he still has a large amount of stock in home depot. Employees feel that he is trying to destroy Lowe's home improvement stores. Employees of Lowe's are in fear that one day they will go to work and the stores will be closed. A lot of the share holders for Lowe's are Lowe's employees. Like you said he is only out for himself not the employees and not the customers.

So Marvin used to be at Home Depot. He left for Lowe’s. At Home Depot the “impact hours” used to be called “power hours” at Home Depot. Thank god he left The Depot... he almost tanked us. “Power hours” aren’t a thing anymore. Instead we are now focused on staying in stock and my store is actually in a hiring boom.
@joshuahellfire32874 жыл бұрын
Honestly everything you've said so far that I've watched in the video about Lowe's has been completely true. Up until 5 to 6 months ago I used to work at the Lowe's in Katy Texas and the major problems that we had were horrible bosses who at the end of the day most employees wanted to go home and drink or cry. We were overworked and under paid. Asked to come in on our off days. Had to bend to the customers will even if it put our health at risk. A customer came in and wanted us to hand load a pallet of concrete, (that is 48 bags of 80 lb concrete) I refused but my boss came and still made my co-workers do what she wanted us to. My boss's boss continuously harassed my direct boss whether it was because she's a female or whatever I don't know but there was one point a few months in a row I guess some weeks that she had 80 hours a week because he would keep on calling her in and threatening her job if she didn't come in. And we had these things called Power hours which is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and the full day on weekends. Whenever we complied with that the store would look unfilled like garbage and we would get in trouble every time we would try to fix it or straighten things up. Nothing we did was ever good enough, there were even days where we would work from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. only to have my boss's boss come in and tell us that we had to work overnight as well in order to get a project or some major thing done before the next work day. It came to a point where everyday we came in stressed out and every day we would get annoyed at the littlest things whether it be an irate customer or just hearing some minor bad news. The reason they fired me was poor job performance I think but I know for a fact that I was one of the only three people maybe that worked hard up there. The others seemed to just be there to talk to customers or talk to each other. So, long story short. Fuck Lowe's, fuck the management team and fuck the corporate team for screwing me and thousands of others over.

What does Marvin Ellison, Paul Raines, and George Sherman all have in common? All worked as officers at Home Depot together. They have no clue how to make a company profitable. Only after they left Home Depot the company started doing better. What a shock! If I were a lesser man I could make a crack about the Reaper getting one you and it will be fun to see who’s next. I’m a self employed tradesperson who designs and renovates home interiors. I’ve use Lowe’s as a quick go to for lumber and small fixture parts for 30 years. It’s always been just a warehouse of what I need and my interactions with associates is limited to friendly conversation at checkout. I know what I want and were it is so we get it and get out. But I’ve made friends with associates. They know me and we talk, joke and share stories about our day and work. The culture there was at one point cool enough to make me wonder if I could work there when I’m too old too work on job sites. I thought I’d be a valuable asset and could have some fun helping customers. But it is now so horrible that I don’t want to even shop there. People who I knew could help me just find something are gone. I won’t ask for help because it’s a time suck due to a lack of product knowledge. There’s still some great people there but it’s not what it was from just last year. We’ve shifted all our large appliance purchases to Ferguson for better pricing and service. Lumber quality at Lowe’s is minimal so it’s us just picking up a last minute 2x4. The paint is worthless along with poorly stocked shelves due to that being contracted out. Lowe’s Blows. I don’t blame the associates one bit either. They really just want to do a good job, get paid what they deserve and have their old schedule back. That new CEO has in a matter of months crashed it into the ground and all that’s left is for it to burn as he floats down with his “golden parachute.”

Thank you for posting this! To me, the key here is that the guy NEVER mentions Lowes' customers or employees welfare. All he cares about is the top shareholders, of which he is one. Typical short term Management tactics which ALWAYS lead to massive failure. Home Depot works on investing long term in both their customers and their employees.

These front line associates should legally have more of a say in how they are treated. This is why many companies had unions. This is probably what everyone across the board needs.
@Thagesthoughts4 жыл бұрын
Shit like this is why unions are starting to regain public favor and growing in power again. With big corporations losing their stranglehold on the flow of information thanks to the internet, people are realizing there's more of us than there are of them and the decades of television broadcasts vilifying unions were horseshit. I guarandamntee you in the next 5-10 years almost every industry is going to be unionized as the workers rally to protect themselves from corporate sociopaths and "Right to work" (what a fucking punchline) legislation. Either that, or the economy's going to bottom out and Rome's going to burn. The current model is completely unsustainable.
@nobodynobody15744 жыл бұрын
@Logan Waltz screwing your associates over regardless of how it effects business is not acceptable. Should every company make this standard procedure because people like you dont give a damn about workers. Let's all just under compensate everyone except those at the corporate level . Then we'll cut hours and Benefits to the point were it's no longer worth having a job. Hell then well just be unemployed because it'll be basically the same. You have no clue to the long term picture these kinds of business practices bring about.

Home Depot will send Marvin a thank you card for the influx of highly experienced in hardware retail employees real soon.
@Tony-bp1nr Жыл бұрын
How do the shareholders/ceo think the company is going to grow when they cut payroll like that? When you have less employees and lower paying employees the overall store performance will drop tremendously. So the company may save a few bucks in the short run. But in the long run, there will be a little to no growth in the stock price. Why? The CUSTOMER. Customers will go to Home Depot, Ace, and those Mom&Pop hardware/construction stores. Business 101: If you want to make money, you have to spend money.
