Great vid. I just swapped out the hub bearing assembly on the drivers side, put it all back together,( which was a pain!) only to find out it’s the ball joints. 😡😡😡😂

I stopped watching when he said remove brake caliper. It's only 3 bolts to remove control arm and replace lower joint. I just sit here and shake my head at these KZbin mechanics.

Any why not just replace the whole control arm? It is not expensive.

Nice walkthrough, as I have to do mine soon. Just curious though, why didn't you just remove the LCA entirely? Seems like that would be easier than messing with the CV axle and brakes

Hey Chris, thanks! I did think about removing the LCA, but then I decided against it. I was changing the brakes at the same time, so it just seemed natural to do it this way. It might be easier to remove the LCA. If you decide to go that route, please let me know how it goes!

Waaayyyy too many unnecessary steps. Literally only need to take out tge 3 bolts holding the control arm in. 1 in each bushing and the 1 holding the ball joint in. Drop out control arm and then reverse process for install.

Yeah thats exactly what I do remove entire control arm. Ive done hundreds of these setups. I just sit here and shake my head at these KZbin mechanics

@@jacobadam4556 Instead of sitting there shaking your head how about you make a video so us who don't know better don't waste the better part of their day after seeing WAY too many videos going through this many steps. Although my ball joint was seized to the wheel hub so thoroughly I probably would have ended up here anyway.

I ended up having to replace these ball joints again last night. I took off the control arms this time. I do like that method better, thank you for sharing.

I bought a pair of lower ball joints a couple months ago for 20 bucks...

I was just quoted $450 for parts and labor. Not sure if that was just the driver side or both front. Regardless, $20-$30 seems a lot cheaper than even $225.

I had a garage quote me 575 saying the ball joints are not pressed in they would have to replace lower control arm
