Some notes listening to this interesting lecture: Avoid all added sugars and reducere or avoid all refined carbohydrates but if you are physically active its not a Great problem, but avoid eating refined carbs and not moving your body ( go for a walk After eating) and stop all alcohol, inflammation starts early ( 11 years Old) measure your total LDL in the blood, avoid eating animal fats or minimize if you want a long and healthy life and avoid coconut oil and whole coconut milk, peanut butter is ok if it is pure ( without palm oil), avoid ice cream, cheese and pizza, but in moderation whole grain sourdough bread and naturally fermented cheese are not quite as bad ( but still has saturated fat and often too much salt) - take 3 blood tests: triglycerides, LpA , ApoB to check your cholesterol levels 🙏❤❤❤

But I was 16, and I really didn't understand why that was so bad. Knowledge of the "why" in 1966, was not that prevalent. Our Principal read all the time. He'd stay up late nights, reading books. I am vegan with super high cholesterol. Just reduced it for the second time in a row, still going. But provider told me my BMI is now normal as well! So I watched the vid to see if I could find any additional pointers. It lines up with what I have been doing. The things that really seemed to make the difference was cutting sat. fat, sugars, and wheat, in case the RoundUp is causing inflammation. So anything in a pkg that has more than 1 g of Sat fat, I just don’t tempt myself with. And the sugar thing was not something I initially thought was a problem. When you eliminate wheat flour, Sat dat and unnatural sugars, that about encompasses the package convenience and commercial baked goods. It was easier than I thought - now I grab some raw nuts or guacamole on a rice cake, for instance. It’s really about choices made under time pressure. I did not limit peanut butter (no fat added) and avocadoes as they are supposed to be beneficial for your cholesterol. I had been cooking with coconut oil, baking with dried grated unsweetened coconut and seems like some form of bread every meal which is pretty typical, I think? The coconut is controversial but I only can testify as to what is working for me. I have cut out a lot of processed vegan meats almost completely but subbing for instance when I am too tired or pressed for time to scratch cook with simple foods like air fryer potato wedges, tofu in a fruit smoothie with kale, refined beans & veggies on a corn tortilla. Find your comfort foods that are nutritious and do no harm. It’s worth the investment but does take a long time. Just build on it from there. I am 67 Y O female, vegan since Covid but vegetarian before that for 20+ years. (PS cheese was way harder to give up than meat but I sub with guac plus spices and enjoy cooking with tofu, finally)

Animal meats can be very healthy! To vilify all animal meat is a lie brought to you by the W.E.F., Bill Gates, a Klaus Schwab, U Al, Noah Harari, and the other global elitist! God has allowed for man to eat from the earth, sky, and water. We must not be gluttonous, however. Everything in moderation!!! Too many people do not exercise, limit portions, or eat mainly what they cook from whole food sources at home!!! Too many kids live at drive-through windows and never run around outside and play!!! Meat is not the threat! How we are now living is the threat and eating fake foods!!!

Love Skippy peanut butter, been eating a jar a week my entire adult life, who knew it was killing me, equivalent to eating a can of Crisco, now 69 with high Cholesterol I quit PB except when I go backpacking, noticed lat year that when I am hiking up the mountain, ran out of energy, can't take another step, about 5-6 tablespoons worth of peanut butter gives instant energy and I can make it up the mountain. Putting peanut butter on a low carb tortilla + sliced salami gives so much instant energy when I need it, sounds weird but taste really good. To get my peanut butter fix at home I am using powdered peanut butter, add dash of salt & stevia + water to create PB goop.

Refined sugar (sucrose) is easily broken down into fructose and glucose. Metabolism of fructose is insulin independent so it can easily overwhelm the liver.

Interesting about the Coconut oil. Whiile coconut oil is Saturated fat, 50% of it is medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). MCTs may be beneficial for those who have diabetes as they can lower blood sugar levels and increase insulin sensitivity. People who are trying to lose weight & fasting take this. So it is confusing to me. First time I heard about the coconut oil causing high LDL. I will need to do more research on this.

My doctor orders a "lipid panel" (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides) every year, but he won't order LpA or ApoB because he says my insurance won't pay for it. He won't even order them if I agree to pay for them out-of-pocket, so .... I order them myself through an online lab test ordering site and keep the information to myself.

The thing about carnivore that it is quite easy to overeat because every bite is dense food, meanwhile you won't crash the diet when you overate a broccoli. Whether is vegan or omnivore, it's still the same principle of 'move more, eat less'.

If you want to get thin - eat vegetables and fruits! If you want to get healthy and thin eat meats, your body cannot break down and get at all the good and healthy nutrients in plants, you need four stomachs to do that like cows and sheep. Humans are just made differently. You can’t get healthy on beliefs.

Coconut oil for frying if u can tolerate fried foods. A spoonful or two of VCO as my daily therapeutic elevates my overall chol but improved my hdl ang reduced my ldl & vldl significantly. Everyone with metabolic disease has fatty liver disease. Prevent or reverse fatty liver disease if you want to impact metabolic diseases like atherosclerosis. The focus on cholesterol is a distraction. Too much sugar, especially fructose, and oxidized trans fats (the foundation of processed junk food) cause NAFLD that causes insulin resistance that causes metabolic syndrome. Saturated fats and cholesterol are not the problem.

Dr. You blew me away about knocking out Cocnut oils and Coconut Milk. I have read many other comparable reports that were advocates for consuming MCT oils, Coconut oils, etc. which are Medium chain Triglycerides (MCT) . Some doctors recommended that you should toss all margarines, and Butter substitutes for Butter and even lard! The Body need fats - but like everything else in this life, consume in MODERATION. I am surprised that you and others never talk about the benefits of consumming Grapefruits (not Graefruit Juice which is processed with sugars and Cooked to pasteurize it). On two separate occassions in my like, I went on "drastic" diets. Both of which Included 1 grapefruit in the morning, no sugar, and in the Scarsdale Diet of the late 70s, No FATS !! or very little Fats of any kind. I lost 22 pounds in 2 weeks and more importantly, Inches off my waiste and entire body. I had to take all my business suits to the taylor to adjust them. After the two week Shock aspect, the diet is then modified and required Life style eating changes. That worked for a few years, but after going on a Cruise about 4 years later, I gained about 8 -10 pounds in a week! THX or the info that i will show my doctor at the next annual physical. Because of the amount of fat around my belly, hips etc. as a 72 YO man, I suspect that I have a Non alcolholic Fatty Liver and/or HYpothyroidism.

It’s moderation right? honestly the way it is these days we hear something is a better alternative and then we consume it excessively like avocados the fact that one person would have a whole avocado in one sitting is ridiculously excessive. A quarter spread on toast is probably plenty but no we get told by social media to smash a whole avocado on to slices of bread with a side of eggs 🤓
