Where did you get the ladder bars
@Rctreadaway6 жыл бұрын
You installed the shackles backwards although I doubt that would make it not drop as much but it could be binding some. Installed them on my 09 2500 4wd and it made a noticeable difference. Have a picture with the designated sides labeled if you want to see it. Just let me know where to send it. The offset is to get the shackle away from the hanger to keep it from interfering.

Can you send it to me. I'm doing this tomorrow

@derekschmucker16097 жыл бұрын
I'd go ahead and connect your ladder bars back up and make sure that doesn't change anything. The other thing is if your shackles are dropped 2 inches that should theoretically drop the truck 1 inch( I think) because of the geometry of the leaf springs. If all else fails you can always pull a Greg A and start pulling leafs, right?

My buddy builds homemade moonshine stills and he tig welds copper all the time. You can tig weld a bead on the end of the pipes to hold the boot and clamp...strip the copper wire out of some Romex wire and then scotch bright the copper wire before you attempt to weld with it. It's a cool trick that allows you to weld copper..👍🏼

When I do suspension work I wait till the suspension is loaded (wheels on the ground) before I tighten any bolts. Theory being if you tighten the bolts while the suspension is hanging loose it will put everything in a bind once loaded. Maybe all your bushings are bound up and won't let the suspension "relax" to final ride height. Try loosening all your bolts and see if you get your 2 inches.
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
Good idea, gonna try that

Ever get this figured out? I'm about to install some on my 2wd 2012.
@kevinlucasr20vet7 жыл бұрын
Place the truck on the ground and loosen the bolts and preload the traction bars and check measurements then tighten to 160lbs.
@juanherrera26727 жыл бұрын
I think Kevin Luca is right on Tom when I did my Carli rear leafs the destructions said torque shackle bolts with truck on ground that's supposed to put the truck at ride hight and not preload bushings or u can ruin the bushings if torqued in the air , kinda makes sense maybe that's what's up with those u put on
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
Gonna try loosening them up, thanks for the idea

I know this video is from a couple of months ago, but I just put these shackles on my truck. Had the same issue, well mine only dropped an inch. Did some investigating, turns out the shackle was hitting the hanger for it. Not sure if that could be your issue too, but it is something to look into.
@brianbecker905 жыл бұрын
I bought these same shackles for my 2004 Dodge also. Did not work for me, plus the shackle and spring bolt where hitting the hanger bracket..... and yes I did have them on the right way..... The guy at the store where I purchased said, sometimes you need to grind out your hanger bracket...... Im like No Fking way im doing that !!!

@jacobmonroe39187 жыл бұрын
Tom you could sil-flos a ring on the end and sil-flos the 1/8th bends together which is much stronger than soldering ...love the look of the copper
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
Silver solder is much stronger, but not necessary for the amount of boost I see
@alpinesky86407 жыл бұрын
the problem with copper is it will transfer heat faster then steel. Not something you want transfering air your trying to cool down.
@alpinesky86407 жыл бұрын
I meant transfer ambient heat from the engine compartment.
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
That being said it should cool quicker also, not sure if the copper would hurt or help more
@Justin-xo4ko7 жыл бұрын
I installed those exact same drop shackles on my '12. I did not notice a difference in drop and I have been driving on them for about 3 months now. In theory a 2" drop shackle should drop the truck 1" since your pivot point will be at the front of the spring and your axle sits in the middle of the spring..
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
After some driving I bet it drops a little
@QuickStyleMotorsports7 жыл бұрын

I'll assume your overload leaf is still installed? If so I'd take that out and leave 1block on the bottom and put the other 2 on top to take up the space for ubolt threads and go from there. Trial and error with doing this. Love watching your videos keep up the good work man
@naildit38817 жыл бұрын
pretty sure he took out the overload spring. I'm like tom, i don't get why it didn't drop at least an inch? it's all in the geometry and if you don't use those math skills every day, they kinda faid away.
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
Overload is out and two spacers are on top
@heavyhans22967 жыл бұрын
The copper inner cooler pipe is cool but you should cut the copper pipe down coming out of the inner cooler boot moving the first 45 closer and then put that difference between the two 45's to look more symmetrical
@alpinesky86407 жыл бұрын
I think you might need to loosen up the axel ubolts to reset them. With them still tight and you changeing the geometry of the leaf ride they might be holding tension and the new geometry is pulling the axel pinon down which in turn could raise the rear because the flat gussets that the leaf springs sit on would not be paralel to the frame causeing the rear end of the leaf to cantilever up. Im no expert just trying to brainstorm.
@TurbaTom7 жыл бұрын
Possibly, gonna drive it some with no bars and see what happens
@reddawng43x915 жыл бұрын
Bro u torqued bolts before u let down the load of the truck ! 😂😂😂 loosen bolts top and bottom “after u jack it up “ then let down jack , now torque to 160 ft lbs. should be lowered now! Your welcome!
@keytopic45786 жыл бұрын
Well, you still have the other half of the spring in the same height as b4... so in theory you can get half of wht the rear drop was.Remove a few spacers or leaves too
@cummins03917 жыл бұрын

definitely looks ""Steampunky "" cool but I think you will start turbulence which can cause air flow restriction It would be cool as all out if someone was to make a 1 piece peace pipe with all the bends in it how ever that can definitely get very expensive but for performance sake Id definitely recommend to just get a regular Stainless pipe made for it which will have less restrictions Every little bit counts in my book How ever I have to admit I appreciate your vision and imagination to create this makes for not only a fun video but also an interesting video Thanks for sharing Bud OH BTW about the shackles I wish I had an answer for ya but I honestly have no experience on suspension when it comes to lowering, lifting or leveling lol But I'm sure you'll have it all figured out in no time
