Lowering A VS Commodore

Old ED The VS Commodore sits a little high in the front and looks less than ideal. Today we fix that and replace the strut bearings while at it.

You should do a vt-vz brake upgrade on it too. DBA040S rotors have a 70mm centre so you don't need to do the spindles and use a vt-vz master cylinder and take about 8mm off the input shaft so there is no load on the master cylinder. You need some braided brake lines too that are available for this job also. Safe brake or Hoppers stoppers can help you there. I did it on my vs clubsport and I'm glad I did. Good Job mate Good to see your still at it I have just Finished getting the Front End Swapped out in my 1999 Vs V6 Ute with the V8 Kframe Ect the ute was lowered when i got it but it was Horrible to ride in it was like a Brick on Every turn and pot hole i am doing my swap a bit different to yours I'm swapping everything over from a Vs statesman and have decided to go with standard ride height its just horrendous lowered I am on the hunt For a good condition 4L60e for it as the gearbox in the stato was stuffed the gearbox that came out with the engine was a 8hbd i have been told that the gearbox is from a Vt commodore but to be fair apparently as long as its the 13 pin Green plug in it will work with my setup from the 1997 vs stato is this something you are aware of and can clear up for me anyway thanks for the great content hope to see more cheers mate.

My donor car was a VS statesman aswell. I had low springs in the rear but i couldnt use the low springs from the 6 so i had to use the V8 ones so it looked stupid intill i sorted it. As for the 4l60 i would imagine a vt box should still work. But not 100% sure. I have driven a standard VT 5L and the gearbox did change gears different to the VS.

Tuned out fine. Rides fine and no squeaks. Big part of it i think is rounding the edges.

Rounding the edges doesn’t do anything. Get ssl or sl and thank yourself later. Guaranteed it’s bouncy

@@blainerichards76 I am aware it does nothing, I just don't like sharp edges. Couple thousand km's on it now and I feel no noticeable differenced than it was.

Why take the caliper right off you can just take bolt out

Couldn't remove the bolt from the hole. The caliper was in the way.
