Very good video for us C5 drivers. I enjoy working on my 2004 yellow convertible. Videos like these help to make the sometimes daunting task much easier. Many Thanks, Frank

Just an FYI you can also cut the bushings on the stock bolts. That will save you from buying new bolts, also a heads up, when you lower it a lot like mine was, stock shocks will bottom out very quickly, you suspension travel will be much shorter. I ended up doing the bilstein sport shocks that where not only shorter and much better valving for shock and rebound. Cool videos my friend

Hey bro thanks for the videos. This is my dream car since I was 22. I'm not 36 years old and still have not obtained it. But as of right now I'm saving every single penny and hopefully I will have it in 10 months. Continue with the great videos because it really inspires me to get mine I'm sure it inspires other people as well.

Lots of people like to slam Vettes it all the day down, which is usually too much. Also, you should measure your turns of the socket by 1/4 turns (four 1/4 turns is one complete rotation of the bolt) in order to have some kind of measurable standard to follow for the other lowering bolts. After you slower, you have to drive the car around the block in order for the suspension to settle in. Then measure the ride height to see how much was changed. Yep, you should do a realignment after lowering.

In the process of lowering my 02 C5 (non-z06.) Was very motivated after watching your video. Car looks badass, man! So now, I'm surfing KZbin, waiting for PB blaster to do its job because my front bolts refuse to budge even after I relieved tension from the leaf spring.

Hows the difference in driving Jamal? Also was the alignment merited? The owners video warns against lowering it too much, have you encountered any issue with that?
@JamalsGarage7 жыл бұрын
The ride hasn't seemed to change much. It's honestly not much lower from stock. Also when I had the alignment done, my mechanic told me it was out bad but I had needed one before I lowered it so take it for what it's worth I guess. I would definitely get it aligned though considering how expensive these tires are

I'm all about working on your own guys. But you can rest assured that Chevy spent millions of dollars in R&D to develop this cars ride, suspension, and how it works on the road to operate as well as it does.I just don't see this as alternative to get a certain "look" on an expensive car like the Z06. I won't be doing this mod to my car when I get it. Like one guy said, just open your wallet and get the coil over setup it will be cheaper in the long run.
@bigbuckeye767 жыл бұрын

thinking about buying a 2001 Z06. found a red with black and red interior for 15000. has 70k on it. Should I go ahead and spend the cash or look for something with less miles. (car is all stock)
@JamalsGarage8 жыл бұрын
Personally, I would try to find a 02-04 z06 because the 01's made less power and some were known to have oil consumption issues
@jimmyaikens4868 жыл бұрын
That's good to know, I have my mind set on the Red/BLK & Red color combo. Of course this make my search a little more challenging. Really like the rare magnetic blue (as you have) also. So my search continues. Thanks for the advice. Will go with the 02-04 instead.

@evanmillett68577 жыл бұрын
Doing the interior that way is very easy in the after market, and I would strongly recommend spending the extra money for a low mile z06. The little things that need to be done can add up quickly in both money and time. I picked up a 2003 with 30k miles for 21k, I thank myself every day. Knowing it was garage kept and ordered vs bought off the lot is absolutely worth the extra 5-6k.
@corvette_jake72257 жыл бұрын
you guys know that lowering on stock bolts ruins your suspension geometry and corner weighting right? lowering my c5 z06 was such a big mistake. just spend the money and install some good coilovers like I did
@MF-Rell7 жыл бұрын
corvettekid z06 Chevy says you can do this
@corvette_jake72257 жыл бұрын
King Jerel chevy does and says a lot of things that aren't true. lowering the Vette without changing to shocks that are designed for it will cause you to bottom out on everything (the progressive bump stops help a little bit) A-arm geometry will be slightly off, it will run the sprung/unsprung weight on each corner. it causes more problems than it fixes.
@MF-Rell7 жыл бұрын
corvettekid z06 all I saying it's I watched a video and they said on track days you could lower it like this
@jomaha92277 жыл бұрын
Could be your shocks were already blown out and needed to be replaced. Anything 10+ years old can have bad shocks even if low mileage. Seals just go out with age. If the stock shocks were working properly then it wouldn't have had a problem, so if yours were bottoming out you probably had bad shocks that needed to be replaced. So, that's a good point to bring up for people to know.
