I am taking Seroquel as a sleep aide and as a mood stabilizer. However, I may be coming off the medication due to sky high cholesterol (getting retested Monday) and my heart rate shoots up during my runs. So for right now, under my psych nurse’s instructions, trying 100mg of Seroquel and 5mg extended release melatonin. Today was day 2 of the reduced dosage, and it wasn’t that bad...maybe just a bit of general anxiety in the morning, but it was over pretty quick.

Happy to hear that you’ve been responding well!! :) i started taking 12.5 in addition to my many other meds almost 3 years ago and it was the first time in my entire life (i was 23 at the time) i actually slept a full night and woke up rested. I now take a full 25 and it still gives me the sedation and stabilization that has saved me. Def not a fan of the restless legs or bedtime snack attacks even on that low of a dose but otherwise it has been a miracle. Would love to not have to rely on my meds but i understand now that my brain functions best with them! You are so wonderful and beautiful, take good care and be patient and gentle with yourself during this time hunny. Best of luck w everything love, sending you strength and hugs from toronto canada xoxoxo

Aaaaaw thank you for your sweet message xx how did you manage to take 12.5? Did you have a 25 tablet that you could cut in half? Or did you take the drops?

I have found a way that works for me to keep away Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). I take 50mg of Seroquel every night mainly for sleep. About 1 hour before taking my Seroquel I take Vitron-C 65mg Iron with Vitamin C. The Vitamin C is included in the Iron supplement tablet. Without that Vitron-C pill I get RLS every time.

Hey - hope you don't mind me asking you this all these years later. I'm on 25mg at night but I am unable to wake up until midday which is making me feel very unhealthy and unhappy.

So I take two 300 mg seroquel and 3 other medications for my fun combination schizophrenia and anxiety. My meds are great for me symptoms (including insomnia) but it clouds my mind, its perfectly manageable feels like exacerbated ADHD. I knock out with the seroquel at bed time

I am happy for you that your meds reduction seems to be going so well over all. Im on 600mgs of SeroquelXR. It doesnt even help me sleep anymore. Im having to take melatonin in order to sleep and my sleep isnt great even then. I did have a psychiatrist talk about getting my Dr to lower my Seroquel dose. But he didnt think it was a great idea considering how unstable my mental health is and how frequent my self harm is. I take Effexor 225mgs and Propranolol 10mgs three times a day also.

@fionascheibel977

@@lydiaregaspi3760 yeah. Apparently you can. I don't think I had side effects with mixing those meds. Melatonin does sometime cause nightmares. I changed Drs at the start of this year and got completely off Seroquel and Effexor by late May. I haven't had any real psych issues since then that I would attribute to any of my diognosis. I've had some rough periods. But where I live has had rolling lockdowns connected to covid and those issues aren't looking like ending and this year I had friends move away and I couldn't see family due to not being allowed to travel more than 10kms from home and no socialising or non essential leaving home was allowed. I also have had my dr and counsellor and mental health worker all move on. This year and especially since about Easter has been crazy disruptive. But I've survived it so far.

You can totally do this. Youre doing an amazing job. And thumbs up on your video I'm so glad you're documenting it. Going off meds is the hardest thing I ever had to do but it Is worth it. I totally wish i had documented the acute withdrawal at least. I went off seroquel after only a few months and it was miserable so I can't imagine how yourr doing after being on 5 years😞January 2018 is when I went off the very last one, benzodiazepines. I had been on them almost 9 years. The withdrawal was absolutely hell but totally worth every moment. 💖

How long were you on it? What withdrawals did you have? Also did you taper! If so how? I’m trying to get off 25mg now and I’ve tried twice. Terrible restlessness when going off this

Atypical anti-psychotics: Although these medications were developed to help treat psychosis, because of their widespread sedative effects, they are sometimes prescribed to help with sleep. Drugs in this group include: quetiapine (Seroquel) olanzapine (Zyprexa) Whilst the atypical anti-psychotics can be effective sedatives, they often result in people feeling overly sedated throughout the day. Also, in the longer term they can cause significant weight gain and have metabolic effects that can increase the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Hi.. I can't find a follow-up video of your Seroquel reduction to zero mls. Did you end up going from 50mg to zero? I've reduced from 100mg to 25mg over a few weeks, but I am now struggling with sleep big time. 😢

But seroquel at that doseage just works as an antihistamine and sleep drug. Seroquel is very dosage dependant.

What I had to do was to cut a 25mg pill in half, then in quarters. I also at some point alternated the doses for my body to slowly get used to it. I'm not a psychiatrist but hope this helps!

I tapered off is Seroquel But my doc told me 75-50-25. Then get off. I did that now I’m back on because I got extremely restless and now I need to get back off ultimately she should’ve had me get off slower even though I was just on it for 3 months. I went back on twice I’m back on but need to get off having pins and needles snd muscle spasms

To all that want to taper off Seroquel here s the way:do it very slowly and you will succeed.The key is very slow taper every time.Lower the dose about 10-20% every time and keep taking the new lower dose for at least 1-2 months. For example if you take 100mg go to 75mg for 1-2 months at least(if you are good at 1 month go to next level if not keep it for 2 months).Then go to 50mg for 1-2 months , then go to 25mg for 1-2months and then to 12,5mg then to 6mg.Be careful in the end to taper slowly the 25mg and not cold turkey.If it needs to give it a little more time than 1-2 months believe me it will work.This needs time but believe me the success is sure and your body and mind will feel like a 14-15 years old kid after you wean off Seroquel!
