I used the hurricane clips today boarding up for Irma. I think they are great. No holes to drill but you need to get hang of it which is some trial and error for sliders but no brainer for windows. Follow simple instructions and you'll figure it out. Hope they hold up. Cat 4.

Cory Blythe they seemed to work fine. I'm not back yet but neighbors say everything held. We had 100mph winds and 20 inches of rain .

If you can't find clips I believe placing a couple of 2x4s across outside of plywood and hammer wood wedges on ends should hold in place..or you could toe nail ends of 2x4s using screws. ..hope to find a few sheets of plywood tomorrow. ..I have storm windows, but adding plywood will definitely make the weakest link even stronger. ..hope to find somr p.t. 3/4...Will last for years.

Yeah, Lowes doesn't actually carry them. Neither does home depot. You can only get them online, which makes me wonder how well they worked. I really wanted to try them but can't wait for them to come into stock.

I"m thinking of getting plywood and treating it with a fire-resistant coating and using these pylox clips to protect my single pane windows in case of a fire, should I have to evacuate. I know they are for hurricanes but any thoughts on that?

These are great but takes some trial and error to use . You need two people by the way. If you can't find these at the big boxes you might want to try some other place smaller like Ace Hardware. Don't wait till the last minute tho.

I just bought some today at my local Lowes in the greater Melbourne area. Make sure to ask an employee in the lumber department. There was a box of them sitting on the checkout counter there.

We bought ours from the Rockledge Lowe's yesterday. They special ordered them with their shipment of plywood. They don't normally carry them.

my walls are angled out a bit, a little beveled so that they are narrower nearer the windows and wider by the time they end at the edge of the edge of the outer walls, don't know if they will still grip

Linda Rodriguez . on my opinion you can not use this it won't be strong enough, for that you will have to screw 2x4 as long as necesary and then across and then play wood.
