Lowest Deck Balcony - Deck 5 - P&O Arvia - Good or Bad Upgrade? (Cabin # 5447)

When we originally booked our Mediterranean Cruise with P&O on the new Arvia ship, we chose a grade GD cabin with the option of an upgrade should P&O have anything available.
When our cabin was finally allocated, we were lucky enough to be given a couple of grades higher and were kindly allocated a GB grade of cabin, number 5447 (Starboard side).
This was right near the centre of the ship, but we were slightly worried that it was down on Deck 5. Normally, all of our other cruises have always been on higher balconies. When we read that our cabin would have a storm door that would be closed and locked should we encounter any bad weather, we really did wonder whether we might occasionally be below the waterline! :)
But as ever, we take things as they come and are just grateful that we get the chance to go on this type of holiday, and make this type of video which hopefully helps others.

Ahh, I’ve just cruised on Costa Smeralda and Toscana (sister ships to Iona and Arvia, but operating under the Costa brand), and they had these cabins. I was surprised they were so low, but I really liked them actually - you’re so much closer to the water down there!

We came off the Iona in March and had gone with a bit of trepidation as had level 5 balcony. Apart from the last day and half having it locked shut because of high winds it was an excellent choice and would do it again. It was also on gym level so spot on for me. Thanks for very good video.

Well was that a good up grad or not. It didn’t say what the other cabin was.

We were upgraded to a higher grade of cabin. In effect we went from a cabin near the aft of the ship around deck 10, to closer to the centre of the ship on deck 5.
