@@MysteriumFX let's say you roll a six-sided die with the intention of getting a six, right? But if you roll 50 dice all at once, each with a 1/6 chance of landing on a six, there's a very very high chance that some of those 50 dice *will* land a six. You guys know what you’re doing. Normally I don’t mind “click-bait-y” thumbnails since I know KZbinrs have to play that game, but when it implies something that is blatantly false or unrelated to the video is when I take issue with it. @Nat_the_Chicken2 жыл бұрын
@@TheOneWhoHasABadName Well, it _is_ technically all luck-based (or, as gamers like to call it, RNG), because where everything is in your world will be determined by a randomly generated seed each time. So the guy in chat and the Mojang dev are both right. But the more tools you have to determine what's around you, and even analyze the world generation patterns, the less your run is likely to die because of bad luck. So you don't _eliminate_ luck, you _overcome_ it, hence the title.

I was expecting to know everything presented here, but I didn't know divine. Entity counting was something I learned in 2015/16 when I started playing on PVP servers. One of my first factionmates taught it to me to show me how to find bases.
@BlueCyann2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's weird how many speedrunning tactics were borrowed from stuff like factions servers, or even basic survival. (There's a micro-strat for blowing up TNT underwater that I first learned about while watching SMP youtubers at least that long ago.) But it still requires someone thinking about how and why these things would be helpful in going faster. Like the only reason the bastion-finding strat doesn't result in more false positives than it does is because bastion piglins (and hoglins) are accounted for separately from other nether mobs and entities. Comparing your E values to other F3 data (not talked about in this video) lets you know you're not just looking at an abnormally large concentration of random nether mobs. The TNT strat would never have been useful prior to ocean strats since before that, runners who had TNT had no reason to seek out an ocean, and runners who were in an ocean had no way of getting TNT.

Still really want a no f3 and no pausing category. I think it's a bit of a hype killer when someone does an 11 minute run in 15-20 minutes because they need to pause and type numbers from their literal debug menu into a calculator.

You want it to be a category? Go make it a category! No matter what time you get, it will be world record for that category :))
@SpookySkeletonGang2 жыл бұрын
@@toastymouse8230 It won't because some people already choose to run like that. Illumina got world record not that long ago, over all the people who still use f3 and pause, without them.

I 100% agree, imo F3 is somewhat okay, but pausing just ruins the point. I think pausing time should count towards the final time.

The pausing rules are probably the most complicated speedrunning rules I've ever seen :l I dislike the retiming, but I'm at least ok with "pauses are retimed to 10 seconds if they're longer" bit: you still lose time from pausing. The "you can just ask for any random pause to be untimed so long as you give a valid reason" is really odd. It stands out as more "we think lots of 'runners' will be kids who would otherwise start screaming at their parents". I've never seen anything like it in any other speedrunning group, it seems so... unnecessary. Especially when runs have to be sub-13 minute for it to be applied anyway: pause breaks are generally used only in 12+ hour runs so that truly obsessive people don't literally kill themselves speedrunning. At the end of the day it doesn't affect me, and it's mostly just a shitload of work for the mods: ie. not my problem lol Edit: Edited bc at first I misread the rules, almost as if they're stupid complicated.

Minecraft is really tame compared to other games glitches. X-ray is impressive but compared to the ridiculous glitches like teleportation, superspeed glitches, literal TIME TRAVEL and manipulating the code of the game.

i tried speedrunning minecraft so many times but i keep failing because my nether portal keeps on taking me to like a island surrounded by lava or just endless bastions. how do i get luckier?

Luck is managed in part by repetition. If the nether spawn sucks, reset and try again.

another fun new strategy in the midst of being developed by fwag is the zero cycle, which relies on a different set of rng based on the seed, rather than the rng of the dragon perching fast
@BlueCyann2 жыл бұрын
Man I hope that works out fully some day. I'm not super hopeful though. You get one of the very best 1.16 RSG runners (TheeSizzler), stick him in the perfect scenario for a low-risk zero cycle (a scouted seed tournament), give him 8 or 9 seeds to try it on, and NONE of them work out -- it's not ready for prime time. And nobody else who tried a zero cycle in that tournament succeeded either. Half-bow is looking good though. I doubt you'll ever see it in a WR run or a close-call PB but it's way more reliable and low-variance for any other purpose.
