Quick lore on Swann: He used to work for one of the many mining guilds that made up the KMC. The KMC acted much like the Confederacy, squeezing and exploiting the miners. Meinhoff was, alongside Moria and Redstone III, one of the most lucrative mining planets. So when Swann and his colleagues rose against the oppression of the KMC, they were crushed militarily. Raynor's Raiders showed up just in time to save Swann and his group. A battlecruiser is enough to scare any force that does not have some of their own, so the KMC fled, and Swann joined them.

Most missions can be done with mass marine/medic + tanks and he does have good micro, so he should be fine for the most part. The last mission is the only really difficult thing in WoL.

Yeah, I don't really dig Hellions and the bunker turrets. Goliaths I'm not sure about. I never really used them for anything other than the mission they appeared in because I didn't have any real AA (unless you count Marines, of course). But while I never finished a run on brutal, I feel that for someone who does the coop-mutation missions while occasionally goofing about with his commander choice like Lowko does even a no-tech run should be possible.

Also, as a couple of other people have pointed out, it seems like you're selecting your upgrades in terms of their utility on multiplayer. The campaign is a pretty different mentality altogether, and static defenses will be absolutely essential later on.

Tip: New Folsom mission is a "free" one. You can't make it any easier by bying more upgrades, or mess it up by buying wrong ones - there'll be no base for you to control. Meaning, as long as you have the skill, you can complete the mission and get the resources, free of trouble to build your base and army correctly.

I was watching those bars and it was like ... "Lowko, you spend too much", "Lowko, wake up already", "Lowko, you'll have to restart!!" but you eventually gained money advantage and lost most army ;) Key is to destroy first 3 centers early on, that slows down Orlen's progress immensely and allows to safely build up army once Mira's base is available.

You've probably heard and know already, but there are some missions where you have to make a choice between one of two missions (e.g. Safe Haven vs Haven's Fall). Outcomes aren't too different besides the immediate scenes and units available thereafter. The missions play differently though. You can then go to the mission computer behind Matt and play the "other" mission, but it won't change the course of the game :) I think New Folsom is the next one that has a choice of two outcomes, and then after that it's very much end-game and all that does is change the strategy for the final mission :)

The sample tanks in the lab update when you unlock a new tier of research. Also you need to kill the science facility in the Korhal mission, any unit will do, but the building isn't hostile so you need to target it.

I hadn't realized it before but the adjutant's eyes change colour depending on whose voice it's reproducing: blue when normal, yellow (orange?) for Duke, purple for Kerrigan, green for Raynor and red for Mengsk.

This mission goes a lot more smoothly if you take out the enemy's mining bases. There are a couple missions coming up where you have to choose one or the other. You can still do the other mission and its accompanying cinematic using the mission archive.

Like how adjutant changed eye colour when it switched voices. ABOUT MISSION WITH CHOICE! I suggest you save before Haven or New Folsom on a save, let's say, "before_choice". Take the first choice, finish the mission and save as "choice_A". Then load "before_choice", take the second choice and save as "choice_B". Then decide for yourself what result you like better and continue from that save. Just for your information: Hanson leaves whatever you choose, so you may want to delay Haven mission as long as possible for her intermission dialogues. Same for Tosh, though he stays if you help him.

You don't necessarily need to do that. You can always play the alternate mission from the master archives when you've finished the campaign. That's what I usually do.

Using master archives doesn't change those minor choice consequences. The choices affect 3 zerg/protoss research points, whether Tosh stays on the ship and iirc two dialogue lines in Heart of the Swarm. Also the choice in the penultimate mission is more drastic, and also cannot be affected by master archives, but we should get to that when the time comes.

I usually make the choices based on story outcome rather than research points. Besides, if you do the Zeratul missions before the Haven mission, then you've practically got all the research points already, so whether you get 3 zerg research points or 3 protoss research points don't matter that much anymore.

Well, "whether Tosh stays on the ship and two dialogue lines in Heart of the Swarm" are those "story outcome" consequences based on choice. Moreover, if I am not mistaken, master archives do not allow intermission dialogues with the crew.

that's a issue with most skined unit lol, long time campaign players run away from enemy because in campaign, the fatter a unit is the stronger it gets (most of time anyway) example: very fat marine = betta marine, very fat tank = better tank, very fat thor = odin

Lowko, make sure to save the "last" mission of a mission chain ie. Haven. The respective npcs of the chain go away after, and often times they will comment on the other missions you have access to. (Lots of missing lore/interaction bits). Also, the core mech unit, Hellbats were a Heart of the Swarm unit. They do not exist in Wings of Liberty, so take note.

Is it different? Nova acts like we sided with her on the 2nd mission of HotS, so I think the cannon is siding with her, not Tosh. I always side with Tosh though, his mission is way more fun.

lowko if i was you , i would definitely spend credits on static defense in the last mission you gonna have defense or you won't survive. Bunkers , tanks + banshee are gonna be very helpful , without upgrading these i can't imagine you surviving it , even as a master player in sc 2. I'm diamond terran player myself..

To be fair, the mission menu doesn't give you an achievement preview like the expansions do. Plus, the Solitaire achievement is not something I'd aim for on a Brutal run. Hard difficulty without extra SCVs is pain-in-the-ass enough for me.

More specifically, the zerg/protoss upgrades you get access are actually based on Stetmann's observations of the corresponding tank. For example, the first note on the zerg specimen refers to learning about how zerg automatic threat detection systems work (lets you build automated turrets on bunkers) and how ultralisks have such tough hides (which can be used to fortify bunkers). Later on he will even mention how he only has time to pursue one of the two topics of interest, which provides an in-game reason for why you can't switch back and forth between different research options.

I kind of wished there was an easter egg if you completed a amount of convoluted weird tasks. In doing so after the end of the epilogue that right at the news conference with Matt, the Hyperion drops into atmosphere and sends a drop-pod near Matt. Slowly as the drop-pod opens, the Hyperion slowly turns around on its side while releasing fireworks is a banner and you see the words "Congrats". Valerian Mengsk aboard the Hyperion announcing: "Dear citizens in the Dominion, I ask you to bless a fine general of the dominion today, Matt Horner, as he is finally able to marry the love of his life after bringing peace to the dominion." Que Swann acting like his father saying: "My little boy has made daddy proud!" while trying not to laugh. Mira Han in a wedding dress kicks the drop-pod door open, and then pounces on Matt Horner to his shock. Thus hilarity unwinds with Raynor's smug face watching the news.

The Rebellion missions are difficult for me. Obviously, I am very bad at TvT. I have been trying to complete all of the achievements on brutal. Cutthroat is like the Brood War mission where you collect minerals. So trifling. Imma try vulture / viking.
