I think there is a bit of lore-wise irony here. In the lore, Protoss lost their homeworld and became refugees, high in tech but low in number, their golden age far behind. In tournaments, it seemed the same where Protoss players always had a small elite army that was overwhelmed by a colossal number of zerg with superb economy. However, after the legacy of the void, most Protoss united and started to rebuild, and it shows in tournament games as well with this new style. Golden Age for Protoss is back.

They too easy one on one ai with terran, need a good partner for 2 on 2 and it's random selection, you beat them with 3 tanks and 2 bcs but incredibly cheap when you mass their air nuke the tempest they cancel

Max pax is the undeniable worlds best PvP player, so it’s hard to judge who’s best based on that matchup. Weird quirk about Starcraft, if you want to know who’s the best player you can’t just have them play against one another

I really like MaxPax Forge Upgrade Style. He prioritzes attack upgrade and then goes 2nd forge armor. And the fact that he doesn't miss out on the shield upgrade is very much to my liking :D

MaxPax is a protoss machine, and while having him in offline events would be nice, i think it's safe to conclude that there's a significant reason as to why he doesn't participate in them. So long as he has fun playing the game in the capacity that can/wants then i'm satisfied.

MaxPax was born in July 2004 that means he only turned 18 this year. So I just imagined the conversation with his parents when he qualified for the tournament: MaxPax: "Mom, dad, I did it! I qualified for the world championship in SC2!" Mom: "Oh congratulations, son. Where in Denmark does that tournament take place?" MaxPax: "Mom, it does not take place in Denmark. It takes..." Dad: "What?! It takes place in a foreign country? Young man, I have allowed you to play that game professionally but I forbid you from leaving the country just for some kind of game tournament! So forget it until you are an adult." MaxPax (still 17 years old in spring this year): T_T

When I asked him about if he'd be in Valencia the following year if he qualified, after turning down the spot earlier in 2022, he said it would depend on some factors in his personal life, so I don't think it's the under-18 issue.

The zoning with the Archons was a brilliant move. I wonder if a few neural's to take some of them away and use them against the interceptors might have been better than having so many lurkers? MaxPax made it look like Zerg could do nothing. Impressive series Can't wait for him to do his Zeratul impression and "From the shadows I come."

I didn't comment when you did it once but you made some kind of bloopers in your cast and i loved it :) That said, i wouldn't mind if you experiment to upload a cast where you mess up the start. Not 100% sure if i really like it... but every now and then maybe i definitly wouldn't be bothered. :) Might save you some work, which i love. Wouldn't watch Starcraft casts without you. :)

I get that we fast forward past the first couple of minutes because they oftentimes they are completely identical. But here we are expecting something different because of the title of the video. And there's some interesting dynamic between the games that is worth spending those few minutes to talk about. Since very early third nexus vs. heavy ling aggression worked in favor of MaxPax in game 1, how are they both adapting their openers in the second game?

Quick question: can you put a stasis ward up after the opponents triggered one and retrap the units in another one?

I tested this, and the answer is "technically" - but the units in statis trigger the ward, without resetting the timer - which means that you'd need to time it perfectly - which is a waste of APM, and very unlikely to succeed

If PvP, MaxPax is king, and he beat herO in a recent tournament. Also check out MaxPax phoenix control, it's out of this world. In PvT though, I'd say herO is better. And in PvZ, it's hard to judge because herO hasn't fought Serral (except one game in a Wardi event).

I think the lurkers are a trap against this style. Lurkers are exceptional defensively, but on the attack vs Protoss, a few disruptors can really do a number on them. And if you sit and defend vs this Protoss style, they just leap to carries and you're dead. Surely the way to go is infestors - fungal and neural on those archons, to allow the corruptors to go in. Infestor / corruptor / brood lord is surely the way forward. Not saying its a slam dunk or anything, MaxPax is looking super strong right now. Something new is needed from Zergs - I want to see MaxPax vs Serral!

If you noticed, MaxPax always swapped into Carriers after seeing the Lurkers. Disruptors are passable vs Lurkers, but the only strong answer to them is going air.

@@arsteel2388 True! The disruptors are sort of the stalling device to buy time for the carriers. I think lurkers are also just fine - but overmaking them is a trap, and you need to preemptively be ready with corruptors. But again, the whole 'problem' here was that MaxPax so heavily outmacroed his opponent, while having the cost efficient units to boot.
