Fun Fact: All special units and special objectives are highlighted by different to everyone else player color
@zeradash24957 жыл бұрын
Another fun fact: Due to the old mechanics the way they change the color is just making a new player controlled by an inactive A.I, which has always a different color, and its marked with the ''rescueable'', which makes that the first unit that comes close to it gets the control. Heroes in this game appear just like in the second mission when you rescue a colony
@zeradash24957 жыл бұрын
''Rescuable unit never move, or anything alike.'' I dint find the exact words tbh... but i though that ''Inactive'' was more than clear to explain it
@TheNethIafin7 жыл бұрын
also: 1) gain control of all units of "rescueable" player if you touch their command center (see the terran mission with downed BC) 2) standard SC had no command in script that was able to give units to other player (same for WC2) until it was added in Brood War. 3) the last slot for Kerrigan abilities will be filled with... something... You can see that one of the skills belong to terran (cloak), one to zerg (slowdown)... soooo guess what's next

This is what I kinda missed from Sc1 in Sc2, it really feels nice, having a purple-colored building producing blue-colored units. This also made me have extra caution with units that had different colored suits, like thw white marines from the Norad II mission, I kinda think of them as "Semi-Hero units"
@Urza267 жыл бұрын
Lowko, to properly do muta micro in SC1, you need to continuously do a sort of triangular movement to let them group up because they will spread out over time naturally otherwise. Then, if you're new to it, it's easier to go very near the closest enemy or missile turret and hit "h" just as they are within range. The 'target fire' method is better but harder to execute sometimes.

LOWKO!!! Tips for SC1 campaign. Anything that has to do with a hero is going to be teal color. So the blue CC could have been killed and the mission would continue. Raynors CC was teal thus ending the mission when you killed it. So from here on out, when you see a teal colored unit in the campaign, it is a hero unit.

Hey Lowko, Parasite works like an observer. Use your Queen to parasite a dropship or something else, and you´ll see what they see until the unit dies or get healed from a medic (Only in Brood war) works on bio as well as on mech units. Queens are necessary for the missions later on.

Radio Freee Zerg is indeed treated as "cheat code" due to engine limitations at that time, but in reality it is only an Easter Egg activated by console-like command - something similar to "players 8" in Diablo 2. Just to let you know, if you don't, queen ate useful: 1- parasite: cast on any enemies (bio and mechanical units) and you can see what they see, but can be removed by medic. 2- broodling: kills any enemy and cause two broodling for a sort time. 3- ensnare: slow your enemies. Plus all three cost energy, so use that in your advantage Lowko.

Hold Position with muta ball when you get within range of marines. Move within range, H, Move away. They will engage and attack more quickly. This is obviously most effective when a single marine or whatever gets further away from the others. One reason mutas are stronger against marines because you can't clump-stack marines literally on top of one another. You can engage and retreat and wither them away.
@TomaWalker7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure others have mentioned it already. But you can parasite critters on the board too to get vision around the map. That was one of our old tricks. We would parasite them (especially flying critters) and get their vision. And if you are playing another human opponent they really just blend into the background as most don't pay attention to them. And the only way the opponent knows they have been hit with a parasite is by clicking on them. Then they are forced to kill them or you get to keep that vision.

Starcraft is a lot more about zones of control, placing units like Siege Tanks or Lurkers and strong static defences in strategic positions and locking down areas, while (last time i checked) SC2 is about death balls trying to outmanoeuvre each other. The fact that it’s a lot harder to stack a lot of damage into a small area due to the pathing, scbw favours things like skirmishing with small forces and flanking for maximum damage and makes weak units feel more powerful since they don’t necessarily instantly blow up (lack of smart targeting helps with this as well).

Parasite : Gives you vision of a unit as if it was yours, just like the oracle's revelation, except it's for the remainder of the game. Spawn broodlings : Destroy a unit and summon two broodlings in it's place (Except reavers, archons, dark archons and flying units) Ensnare : fungal growth-like ability that lasts longer but slows instead of snaring and doesn't deal damage. Also reveals cloaked units. Infest Command Center : Infests a command center below half HP, allowing you to spawn infested terran from it. (Banelings on crack, dealing 500 damage upon ATTACKING, they will not deal any damage if killed. They will also just commit suicide if you order them to attack somewhere with the A+move command.)

Teal is the color of hero units in SC1. The main command center was the teal, not the blue. ;-)

Lowko, why doesn't you check the amount of attack and defense of the unit? :0

There's a great deal of micro with mutas if you're muta balling. If you want to give that a try, I suggest looking up Jaedong.

Lowko I don't remember if you've already done this but at least once or twice could you show the old graphics during the mission screen so we can see what the people/things talking used to look like.

left-clicking on critters long enough makes them explode like a nuke, but with no dmg whatsoever. Just visuals :)

Parasite is an amazing ability in multiplayer. It allows you to see what targeted unit sees and the only way to remove it is to kill that unit or use medic's ability Restoration. If you are familiar with Warcraft 3 spells it's similar to Faerie Fire of Druid of the Claw, but it doesn't lower any defense.

in original StarCraft Kerrigan doesn't have that much of "wings" on her back, that looked more like some sort of spikes
