If Serral lost this game, he was out of the tournament, but he pulled the victory just barely, and from then onwards, made it to the finals winning the Homestory Cup Tournament. Such and amazing player.

think he did lose; neeb just tabbed out like Idra; tabbing when you already won bc frustrated and dumb ;) . look at the last fight, serral has NO energy left to fungal or on vipers, the fungal is half way over and 8 tempest out of 9 has half hp+ only 1 tempest should die on the last tick and you could micro split them. that would leave 8 tempest, 2 carriers,4 zealots against only 3 spores, 2 queens, 4inf, 2vipers without energy; even IF neeb goes back recharge all their shields then just split up so fungal+viper can only hit 1 at a time, have carriers in front and just A-move; then neeb wins! it is absolutely impossible for a couple of queens 3 spores, 4inf 2vipers to burn through the HP of 8 tempest 2 carriers individually Even if they clump 2 by 2 it would be impossible to kill their HP pool, and EVERY shot kills 1-2 units, and if the Vipers die it is 100% gameover even if all the units clump and move stupidly as fungals alone will not kill them and they can just return to recharge shield whenever they want. it is impossible for neeb to lose this one if he hadn't done an Idra out of frustration (assuming its true those dots wouldn't have killed 50%hp on the lost ticks, but it really doesn't look like it would and even if it killed ust of them you still has two carriers to buffer).

@@Erebus2075 Nah, Neeb is 30 pop behind when he taps out, and with most of his army in fungal+parabomb. It was lost. Serral have 8 queens remaining + broodlords + vipers + infest + 2 freshly made corruptors. Neeb have 6 interceptors and 4 tempest left plus some zealots, not nearly enough.

Hey Lowko, don't know if you're going to read this but I want to tell you how awesome your casts are for me (and many others). My older brother told me about starcraft if 2004 (I was 6 years old), and when WoL came out we played the sht out of it. Recebtly I found your channel and your casts reignited my intetest in the game (as a spectator). A lot of people are surprised that Neeb held his own so well. Neeb used to be the best performing foreigner in the history of SC2. He's still one of the top earners of all time. Before the era of Serral was the era of Neeb, where he was completely indestructible. Changes in the Meta knocked him down a couple pegs, and he's seemed demoralized for the past few years, but since changing teams we're seeing more and more glimpses of the unstoppable force Neeb used to be. I think we'll be seeing a lot more Neeb v Serral in the near future, and I don't think they're all going to go in Serral's favor.

The only anti air Serral had was like 3 dying spores, he still killed the fleet. Never seen a comeback quite like that. I thought it was already over, that retreat of his was so deceiving.

@@Erebus2075 Carriers with what? Look at Neeb's minerals. Those don't have any interceptors. 2 queens? Can you count? Serral had 8 queens WITH energy as they even transfused the corruptor. 1 corruptor survived. 2 more just hatched from eggs. Zergs and broods will kill the zealots. The infestors are waiting for energy. The tempests are still dying from the fungal. Are you sure you're not imagining things? Assuming the Tempests survive. How can Neeb win with them? He has no minerals, no mining. Serral is still continuing to mine. Serral can have a snack and the Tempests still won't be done with destroying his bases. Then he could just rebuild and finish off NEEB.

@@Erebus2075 serral was mining, neeb was not. there were also vipers that were consuming structures. there were also BL to take care of zealots and 4 queens can easily kill that army since they are all red to orange health.

@@Erebus2075 Serral still had a couple of queens, infestors and vipers left. You can see right at the end of the game how neebs supply drops to 47, so there was still enough AA damage to kill the heavily damaged units. The carriers also only had a few inteceptors left, with no money to rebuilt them so they were pretty much paperweights. And Serral still had a little money and was mining. Year Neeb might have still been able to pull a rabbit out of his hat, but i think Serral had the game in his bag at this point.

i really love Serral, so patient, he knows what he going to face, and so careful calculate those.... I want to said the army, but he calculate all, including worker and supply, 32:23 omg serral forgot that bottom left base for so long of time, BTW, top right base still got some money, may be better to get that? not sure is it worth tho. 35:39 look at those ultralisk butt skytoss are powerful, but if they have a few storm, the game may be totally opposite

Neeb is looking absolutely incredible. To go from almost retiring to producing this level of game is fantastic to see. I've always liked Neebs style and I'm delighted to see him doing well. Serral for me is the best player in the world and I think pretty much any other Zerg would have tapped out in this game. We know the man is not a machine but he sure sometimes feels like it. Breathtaking game. Well played to both and thank you for the cast Lowko.

It feels like no one remembers when he used to be the world champ. Getting knocked down seems like it knocked the wind out of him, but before Serral he was the best performing foreigner of all time, and the highest earning SC2 player ever. I think the change in scenery is pulling him out of his slump.

I don't think it's anything personal but usually just a case of when people become interested in something. They often don't go back through the history but only focus on the current. Sure thing! I just wish that the numbers of minerals and gas currently mined would be included in the overlay. All tournaments i can think of right now show them. To me those numbers are almost as important as the current money that is in the bank.

Banelings have never had any special interactions with shields, and shields in SC2 are dealt damage just the same way as to the unit's base HP are - if a unit has +Light damage, it deals that extra damage to a Zealot's shields as well as its normal HP. The Baneling nerfs moved a lot of its damage from general damage to being +Light specifically (used to be 20dmg +15 to Light, now 16 base +19 Light), which nerfed them against most Protoss units (sans Probes, Zealots, Sentries and Templar).

I really wish you could blow up probes to restore hull health kinda like wisps in wc3, maybe as a late game upgrade or something, it always feels bad where you have to throw away probes and might end up having to rebuild them, scvs can repair and be phased out with mule mining, while drones can just fluidly added or reduced with static defense. It also avoids the conundrum of do you kill your own red hp carriers and tempest because they would be bad in a frontal clash? Or do you hope it doesn't come down to that and be efficient with your money?

I think there is some significant problem with late game ZvP balance: Zerg spellcasters and ati-air is way more better than anything! Corruptors: tanky, fast, high single shot damage; Queen: OP healing (still thinking it should be nerfed, at least decrease the instant healing); Viper: AOE AA damage (parasitic bomb), Abduct (instakill 90%), Blinding cloud (one of the strongest spells in the game); And finally the Infestor with fungii. Protoss just doesn't have the correct response - void rays are dying to the fungii+parasitic bomb, tempests are vulnerable to abduction because they are slow, carriers are straight garbage unit since 2018 - so whats left to fight Zerg air? Phoenix and stalkers? With no chance to rely on the static defense because it will be killed the moment army moves out? I think there should be some clever and unusual solution other than straight buff to Protoss units, like a late-game upgrade that make Photon canons and batteries able to teleport once in a while. Another approach is to get rid of the Abduction completely because its the only instant spell in the game that almos guarantees a unit kill, hence in the late game where the resourcces are mined out it helps to trade for free.

I think Neeb lacked some macro here. He should've mined a little more when he had a chance, he had real chance to starve Serral of resources. Also it was painful to watch how he committed the whole army to killing the corner base when just like 2 void rays would be sufficient.

For about two years, no one could beat Neeb with anything resembling consistency. I think losing his top spot demoralized him a bit, but the change in teams has kicked him back into gear. It's good to see him getting back in the swing of things.

It's kind of a problem. I truly believe the game is incredibly balanced. Sure there are some tiny outliers. Queens early game just feel very strong. Ghost in the endgame needs some very very small tweaks....but serral just makes some things look so broken

@@Intensi0ns Queens need to be strong because zerg are vulnerable early game. Terran have anti air with the first unit they build, and protoss can build cannons basically anywhere with power. They can defend themselves early on much easier.
