Thanks Nick, just bought a replacement filter & was assuming it was the old style filter. Watching your video realised it was the new filter & needed to do the conversion. The filter did include the new cap so was able to complete easily after watching this.

Thanks Nick for this one...I have also installed the Provent catch can and replaced the intercooler pipes on my 2017 DMAX...both as a result of watching your channel. Simple and relatively inexpensive improvements.

FYI pressure relief valve has relocate to stop releasing to atmosphere which is illegal. It has been illegal long as i know but it has caught up to relocate it. you will notice you wont see oil vapour leaking outside of can. However by-product of that is some of the vapour will be now going back to system bypassing filter should there be too much pressure build up in the can.

Hi Nick, are u able to take off the return hose going from the catch can to the intake and see if there is any oil in there at all ? A few people are saying they don’t stop all the oil and a lot gets into the intake still can u check and post a video ?

Great vid Nick. Is it true you can still put the new filter in the older style provent 200 can and just leave the pressure relief valve in the lid?

You can wash the old one with degreaser (I use k&n filter cleaner), then soak it in warm water. Residual oil should float to the top. You can dry it out and re-use or put a new one in and have a spare to use after the next clean.

What’s the benefits of doing the conversion ? Is it purely to prevent the gases venting to atmosphere threw the top relief port if the filter blocks up?

Hey Nick. My MY17 Colorado has 97K, I've heard that it's best to put a catch can on from as close to new as possible, is it worth the trouble of installing one now and if so what other pipes need changing etc, etc. Cheers.

Definately worth doing. You may need to just have an intake clean put through the vehicle if there is carbon build up in the intake.

Hi nice video, I have a question is this provent aplicable also for petrol gdi engines? I previous use it on my old diesel suv and I was very happy on it. But now I bought a brand new dacia duster with 1.3 tce petrol gdi engine and I am searching for a working oil catch can. Can I use mann provent on my petrol dacia or I have to search for something else. Please advice some other oil catch cans if the provent is not for petrol engines. Thanks

I think it should be fine to run a provent on your petrol vehicle.

Hi Nick, I'm installing my Provent today...the new version with the relief valve in the filter. The issue that I see is that the new relief valve vents to the drain tube. However the drain tube is sealed shut by the drain valve at the end of the tube. -We of course want to prevent crankcase overpressure resulting in blown seals if the provent filter gets blocked. -If the relief valve opens and attempts to vent to the drain tube, but the drain tube is sealed shut......won't we still have the crank case over pressure problem? -Thinking of making a small hole in the drain tube at the top of a bend. Oil will still flow down the bottom of the bend and be collected, but pressure would be relieved out of the hole if the filter's relief valve ever did open. Any thoughts?
@LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
It releases pressure back into the lower hose so just recycles back into the intake if over pressure occurs. It will be fine.
@victorhare37072 жыл бұрын
@@LowRangeNick Ah yes, I just realised that the diameter of the bottom of the filter is smaller than the diameter of the bottom of the catch can housing. Yes, I see now that if the relief valve opens, it just flows AROUND the bottom of the filter and back out the normal exit. Thanks mate.

Great video Nick, my catch can has heaps of water in the drain pipe. Is that normal? Also how's the hard pipe kit going, is it worth doing the conversion? Cheers
@LowRangeNick4 жыл бұрын
Hi Will! It is normal for there to be condensation in the catch can especially if you do lots of short trips. The hard pipes are going great! Feels more responsive, boost sounds louder and they look great!

@LowRangeNick4 жыл бұрын
Hey Wayne! There shouldnt be much build up at all after only 40k. If you have a catch can fitted now you won't have any issues. You can use a can or 2 of threebond diesel intake cleaner to help break down anything that may be there if you are really concerned.

Hi Nic, I’m awaiting my 2023 Mux and what is this can supposed to do and will it cancel my new car warranty by doing this
@LowRangeNick Жыл бұрын
Hi Natalie, it may affect your new car warranty. I would recommend waiting until your vehicle is out of warranty to fit one. It basically removes the oil from the crank case ventilation system before it goes through the intake.

Another great vid mate. Just as a query. I noticed in your catch can installation and draining vids . You had the hose quite longer. Stating it was just a measure to stop any possible drip from the valve. And that some manufacturers provide a cap. I see in this vid, you've trimmed the hose length down. Has this particular valve proved that it seals quite well? Or have you found a cap for it?
@LowRangeNick4 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig! I have trimmed the line down shorter now. It means I have to drain it a little more frequently then before but makes it easier to drain. The ball valve hasn't leaked, I will probably get a little cap for the hose to prevent crap getting in it though.

Hi Nick. I have an Isuzu and the updated filter. Is there any way I could have had a big oil leak out of the provent 200 release valve? 20,000k in the filter. Thoughts?
@LowRangeNick3 жыл бұрын
Usually only if there is a blockage in the filter it will vent through the valve. May be a good idea to replace the filter and see if it fixes the issue.
