Stuck in the memory is the right word!

Same! I'm 63 now and like you I've only just 'put it to rest'. I vaguely remember watching it, but it was the theme tune that stuck.

Bought a tear to my eye, I loved this as a child in the 70's. I've been fascinated by the Saami ever since, decades later I went to arctic Finland. The Yoik has always stayed with me.

How good was this program.. I think it spurred my interest in other cultures, living with nature and all things outdoors. I even learned the lyrics to the theme tune.. Just imagine if they served this up to kids nowadays.

I’ve thought of this song on and off for DECADES ! I was in Iceland a few years ago and it popped into my head again, and so I vowed to find the song again. Well here I am and here it is ! I’m so pleased I found it, it’s exactly how I remember if not better… ☺️

På grunn av deres søte kommentarer jeg valgte å se serien i dag 2021 og ble ganske overasket på hvor fin den var. Jeg er 18 fra Syria men bor i Norge. elsker Norske og Samer ❤

Brings back sweet memories from my early childhood. Used to love this tune. Do people knwo that this was coveredby a Finnish Joik-metal band, recently?
@sturlamolden8 жыл бұрын
No it was not. If you are thinking about Intrigue they recorded a different joik, which many non-sámi seem to confuse with this one. Perhaps it sounds similar, I don't know, but both the lyrics and melody is different.

No, we didn't. Now, we'd like to read the LYRICS, the TITLE, WHO composed it?

I watched it in 1978 or 1979, aged 6 years, in Czechoslovak TV. I enjoyed this TV serial very much, and my grandmother made for me and for my brother, Lapland-like sweaters.

This brings back memories. Long distant ones, like those of Belle & Sebastian and the Woodentops. Black and white, yes, but great TV.

I thought I'll try and see if it is on KZbin....but I doubted it, I could still remember the tune and my version of the "words" were pretty close ! I love music and a tune can put me back to the time and place memory wise, this theme is probably responsible for me liking world music too....along with "white horses" .....anyway I just thought I'd share that 👍☺

Saturday mornings must have had about 72 hours in them somewhere. I only remember Tiswas, Swap Shop, Saturday Superstore, Going Live, Live and Kicking and some other dross I'm not even going to name. There was also Sport Billy and Star Fleet but that's about it. Foreign stuff was usually shown during the week, probably a Thursday like the other foreign import Heidi circa 1978

Music The theme music for Ante, Joik written by Kjell Karlsen and performed by Ellen-Anna Buljo, is a traditional Sami joik, an improvised, highly spiritual song. Joiks do not rhyme, and have no definite structure. They are typically about any subject of importance to the singer, and vary widely in content. Purely folk joiks have declined in popularity over the 20th century, due to the influence of pop radio and religious fundamentalism, especially Laestadianism. The theme song was on the Norwegian VG-lista for fourteen weeks in 1975. External Links
