So, I'm currently teaching my kids to dance with a theme, prompt, or reason rather than moving without a connection to your motivation. Could you give us a bit of background of the motivation or meaning behind some of the choreographic, cinemagraphic, and stylistic choices you have here? Forever inspired...ty
@keoneandmari5 жыл бұрын
Darth gNostikos thank you for passing that knowledge onto kids. We feel that when skill + purpose meet, dance is at it’s best! To answer your question: the theme of our show had a lot to do with a wall/division (whether physically or metaphorically) so we knew we wanted to continue along those themes. Also We like the viewer to interpret things for themselves to allow for a stirring of curiosity, thought or conversation, but generally we wanted to thrive off of the feeling of ‘standing together through division.’ We have our interpretation, but for example some might see the wall as literal (the border between USA and Mexico) or metaphoric (walls within ourselves that hold us back). Nobody is wrong though for feeling what they want to feel from watching. Some imagery points: A tribe of people (us) working/dancing together to show unification. Running to show the journey towards something. The abandoned and run down location to show a world in conflict. The face paint symbolizing the fight/battle against something. Us standing closest to each other when we look at the wall at the end. Hope that offers some insight without spoon-feeding too much 😊 Thanks again for your support!!!

@@keoneandmari Not much dancers take this time to reply in such detail. Much respect to you, Keone and Mariel ☺ lots of love for you all at beyond babel 🎊

Another thing about Keone's choreography's are that they just exhibit absolutely incredible musicality. You can tell that he's a very musical guy because his choreos incorporate such precise movements that align with the music's tempo, rhythm, and emphasize certain musical elements in the song. So when it comes to your children, I personally believe that great dancing first starts with truly feeling the music and having musicality. One of (definitely not all) the things that separates the good dancers from amazing dancers is their musicality.

@@keoneandmari I really appreciate this response. I am currently a CASA in my area and really want to integrate thematic arts to these kids who would otherwise never see it- being able to share videos virtually to give them ideas on how to wiggle their bodies and work out their traumas via dance really inspire me to show off this type of style and to learn it for myself. Describing the walls/borders physically and metaphorically is GOLD and gives me a starting point to work on in my bedroom during quarantine lol Thank you thank you thank you so much :)

Not only are my eyes opened and feeling extremely raw, with both aspects of extremely dynamic choreography and beautiful film that was a the level of beautiful cinematography. But the message, dancing at the border of the USA and Mexico. You could feel the intention with every movement and what better song the loyal by Odesza. I believe this dance is going to spark conversation from all viewers. Thankyou for your hard work and creation!

How does this only have 55k views so far? There’s tons of crap out there that just focuses on trying to be sexy with half the talent getting millions of views while the production value, the choreo, and the sheer rawness of movement, energy, and passion with a message about some shit gets a fraction? Let’s make this go viral! It deserves it! This is some raw shit!
