Obviously it’s not easy to find all previous competitions. I only ever got to see you at worlds back in the day. Great content and what a battle you guys had 👏 both legends. Well done liz for the research! And yes! Both of you are legends in strongman and most definitely for England/UK!

The heaviest atlas stone at the 1999 and 2000 Britain's Strongest Man competition weighed only 135kg. The farmer's walk was 120kg in each hand. The overhead log for reps and the viking press for reps was only 115kg and the yoke weighed only 300kg. So yeah, it came a long way! In 2001 they upped the final atlas stone to 160kg and the yoke to 365kg, but it stayed at that weight for a LONG TIME.

Terry you and Mark really expanded the niche group of supporters in strongman. Guys like Martin Cee came along with Voice of Strongman and the small niche following were able to follow and this grew a real die hard base. Watching Terry and I think it was Mark Wood?! In "the cell" in freezing cold weather with axles and truck tyres. Railway sleeper frames. Gas bottles turned into farmers and other homemade equipment gave the early adopters of the sport, the sport being what we know today, something to follow. Then Eddie and the Stoltmans came along and brought it to the general public. Strongman in the UK wouldn't be what it is now without Terry, you and the other early die hards. Your trial and error, your equipment a mate made and your sheer will created the success of this sport. I will also give a shout out to the ministry of muscle who put out a lot of content in the early days. Darren Sadler deserves credit as well.

Brilliant, love strongman since the mid 80`s, still watch it now, one of the best sports in the world imo and does not get enough coverage, love the brits, just a shame that injuries can stop you achieving what you want. don't know how about the 'head to head' thing, but looking at the whole career, very few guys can say they did more than Terry. NINE CONSECUTIVE years in Top 10 WSM. He was not just a competitor, he was an institution.
@edwardchester12 жыл бұрын
Was not expecting it to be that large a difference. Clearly Loz and Terry's peaks were at different times so it's not that surprising but I thiught there were a few more battles that went Terry's way there towards the end. Always felt Terry slightly went off the boil as well. He got so big and there was a sense he was focusing just on WSM and just getting to the final. Kind of the nature of the beast after coming so close, getting older and having some injuries. But definitely felt like if he'd had the coaching and focus (particularly to bring up his overhead) he could've at least got a few more podiums and smaller title wins. Was definitely the guy that got me back into watching strongman, though, after the doldrums of the Marius years.(would also be interesting to know where each placed on average in years where they weren't head to head).
