Cool, I just stumbled upon this. Now I want to visit Zwolle sometime and eat Zwolle Tamales, LOL. I grew up near the original city of Zwolle in The Netherlands.

You should. This is an extremely interesting area culturally. There's a lot of melding of multiple cultures.

My family is from Zwolle, a laid back quiet little town! So many wonderful memories. My grandparents ran a little grocery store there for many years.

Zwolle. Not pronounced Sue-Wally in Dutch, but SWOH-luh. Swoh as in loft. Luh as in Luck. Though you could argue the Dutch pronounce it incorrectly, because apparently the word Zwolle does indeed come from the Latin Suolle, I just learned. Jan de Goeijen. Not pronounced John DeQueen, but John de GOO-jun. Jun as in gun. It means John the Good in old timey spelling.

Boy, them Europeans are an industrious and hardy bunch of people...To sail for months across oceans to raw and foreign lands and then to prosper is quite a legacy. 🤍
